Objective To evaluate the efifcacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) combined with Western medicine in the treatment of patients with common hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) by conducting a prospective, controlled, and randomized trial. Methods A total of 452 patients with common HFMD were randomly assigned to receive Western medicine alone (n=220) or combined with TCM (Reduning or Xiyanping injections) (n=232). The primary outcome was the incidence rate of rash/herpes disappearance within 5 days, while secondary outcomes included the incidence rate for fever, cough, lethargy, agitation, and vomiting clearance within 5 days. Results The rash/herpes disappearance rate was 45.5% (100/220) in Western medicine therapy group, and 67.2% (156/232) in TCM and Western medicine combined therapy group, with significant difference (P<0.001). Moreover, TCM remarkably increased the incidence rate of secondary disappearance, which was 56.4%in Western medicine therapy group and 71.4%in TCM and Western medicine combined therapy group (P=0.001). No drug-related adverse events were observed. Conclusions It’s suggested that the integrative TCM and Western medicine therapy achieved a better therapeutic efficacy. TCM may become an important complementary therapy on relieving the symptoms of HFMD. 展开更多

[Objectives]To establish a method for determining the naringin content in the peel of Guangxi Citrus maxima(Burm.)Merr.[Methods]The high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)method was applied. The chromatographic column was Agilent HC-C18(4.6 mm×250 mm,5μm);the mobile phase was acetonitrile-0.1%phosphoric acid(18∶82);the flow rate was 1.0 mL/min;the column temperature was 25℃;the detection wavelength was 283 nm.[Results]Naringin showed a good linear relationship in the range of 0.164-3.27μg,r=0.9999.The average recovery rate was 98.66%,and RSD=1.80%(n=6).[Conclusions]This method is simple, feasible, reproducible, and accurate,so it can be used for the determination of naringin content in the peel of Guangxi C.maxima. 展开更多

AIM: To evaluate the visual outcomes of Contoura Vision(CV) with automatic eye tracking system in eyes with myopia and myopic astigmatism.METHODS: This prospective study included 160 eyes(80 patients) with moderate myopia and irregular astigmatism between January and August 2018. Subjects were randomly divided into CV group(80 eyes) that under went CV femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis(FS-LASIK) and a control group(80 eyes) that underwent wavefrontoptimized FS-LASIK. Visual outcomes and astigmatic vector analysis were evaluated and compared between preoperatively and 3 mo postoperatively. RESULTS: Basic details were similar in both groups(P>0.05). At 3 mo postoperatively, uncorrected distance visual acuity was 20/16, 20/20, and 20/25 in 24, 76, and 80 eyes of patients in CV group, respectively. The CV group was better in predictability of astigmatism correction at 3 mo postoperatively. In CV group, 64 eyes had deviation of astigmatic axis within 15° and 28 eyes had deviation of astigmatic axis within 5°, both were better than those in the control group. The number of eyes with residual astigmatism within 0.5 D were less in CV group(48 eyes) than the control group(40 eyes). Compared with the preoperative, C7 significantly reduced to 0.056±0.030 in CV group at 3 mo after the procedure(P<0.05), and were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION: CV with automatic eye tracking system is safe and effective for the correction of myopia and myopic astigmatism. 展开更多
