The virus can cause reproductive failure, respiratory disease, and growth retardation in the pigs. This review deals with current status of commercial PRRS vaccines presently used to control PRRS. The review focuses on the immunogenicity, protective efficacy and safety aspects of the vaccines. Commercial PRRS modified-live virus(MLV) vaccine elicits delayed humoral and cell-mediated immune responses following vaccination. The vaccine confers late but effective protection against genetically homologous PRRSV, and partial protection against genetically heterologous virus. The MLV vaccine is of concern for its safety as the vaccine virus can revert to virulence and cause diseases. PRRS killed virus(KV) vaccine, on the other hand, is safe but confers limited protection against either homologous or heterologous virus. The KV vaccine yet helps reduce disease severity when administered to the PRRSV-infected pigs. Although efforts have been made to improve the immunogenicity, ef-ficacy and safety of PRRS vaccines, a better vaccine is still needed in order to protect against PRRSV.展开更多

Each pond (a total of 18 ponds) was sampled once in the dry, winter season between January and March and again early in the rainy season between May and June. The data were analyzed by examining correlations among parameters as affected by season, altitude and culture system. Observations were made at sites located in 5 selected provinces of northern Thailand: Chiangrai, Chiangmai, Phayao, Lampang and Nakornsawan. Mean elevation of these areas range from 25 to 582 meters above sea level (masl) and were categorized into low (400 masl) elevation sites. Ponds were 0.8 - 2.0 m deep, 0.16 - 0.64 ha in area and could be further categorized into high and low input systems.Mean air temperature in winter ranged between 16.5°C - 35.8°C while mean water temperature ranged between 25.5°C - 27.1°C. In rainy season, air temperature ranged between 22.0°C - 37.3°C and water temperature ranged between 29.4°C - 31.8°C. The amount of chlorophyll-a in both seasons were comparable (p > 0.05), but chlorophyll-a in high input system was significantly higher (p 0.05) than in low input ponds. Only weak correlation was found between chlorophyll-a, DOmax and DOmin. Multifactor-ANOVA was used to analyze the difference of total bacteria and filamentous cyanobacteria in ponds based upon elevation, culture systems and season. Result shows that there is a significant interaction observed between elevation, culture system and season (p 0.05). Species diversity and composition of phytoplankton in fish ponds in 2 seasons revealed the presence of 90 genera of phytoplankton under all 7 divisions. Divisions Chlorophyta and Cyanophyta had the most number of genera identified in both seasons with Pediastrum spp., and Scendesmus spp., and Anabaena spp. as dominant genera/genus, respectively.展开更多

In this study, we surveyed fish assemblages and investigated environmental and landscape parameters in a total of 135 floodplain waterbodies (rivers, diversion canals, ponds, irrigation ditches, paddy fields, and wetlands) in the Chao Phraya River Basin in rainy (September 2014) and dry (March 2015) seasons. Factors affecting fish species richness in each type of waterbody were analyzed using generalized linear mixed models. Floodplain area around each surveyed waterbody was a major factor determining fish species richness in rivers, diversion canals, and ponds in the region. The contribution of floodplain area was equivalent to that of hydrology (current velocity, water depth) and water quality (dissolved oxygen, turbidity) in the waterbodies. The population of juvenile fishes was increased in temporarily connected floodplain waterbodies to main rivers compared with isolated waterbodies, and fluvial and lacustrine fishes were observed in the temporary inundated floodplain waterbodies during the rainy season. The high dependence of fish species richness on floodplain area in the region appeared to be a result of the use of inundated floodplains by fish species to forage and breed. Our results highlight the impact of flood control measures that reduces floodplain area. These measures must be reviewed to ensure the conservation of fish biodiversity in the Chao Phraya River Basin, one of the world’s most threatened floodplain systems.展开更多

This study aimed to understand how farmers that culture tilapia in earthen ponds perceive and respond to climate impacts. Important climate-related risks identified include extreme temperatures (hot and cold), excessive rainfall, prolonged cloud cover, flood and drought. Site visits and data collection using questionnaires were conducted to identify important factors influencing farm profits, losses, decision to increase or decrease ponds. Special attention was given to knowledge about fish markets and weather and the impacts of weather and climate on fish growth, disease outbreaks and water quality in ponds. Altogether 585 fish farms in four provinces in northern part of Thailand selected to cover a range of elevations above sea level and thus climate were surveyed (Nakornsawan< 100 m, Lampang 100-300 m, Phayao 300-500 m and Chiang Mai > 500 m). Fish farms at different elevations reported different climate and weather-related impacts. In the area where elevation above sea level is < 100 m, farmers were affected more by floods and extreme hot weather which caused fish deaths and stress that reduced feeding and growth rates. Conversely, fish farmers in the area where elevation above sea level is >500 were impacted mainly by drought and cold weather. These conditions also caused disease outbreaks and reduced feeding rates. Farmers responded by reducing the amount of feed supplied and considering non-fish pond or non-farm supplementary occupations as an adaptation strategy. Among non-climate related factors high prices of feed were most commonly identified as a key issue by farmers. The differences among sites at higher and lower elevation provided insights into the kind of changes in risks farmers may face as climate changes that could be helpful in developing adaptation strategies for individual farmers and the sector as a whole.展开更多

Samples were collected monthly for 8 months (January to August 2011 for Phayao Lake, and November 2008 to June 2009 for fish ponds) and were analyzed by HPLC. The highest total microcystin-LR levels in water and fish in Phayao Lake were recorded in April 2010 at 2.60 ± 2.48 μg·L-1 and 0.20 ± 0.03 μg·kg-1 dry weight, respectively. Microcystis aeruginosa Kütz were the dominant species (271.6 ± 72.4 mm3/m3) in the lake. Colony number of Microcystis spp showed a positive correlation with soluble orthophosphate (r2 = 0.77). Similarly, Nile tilapia ponds surveyed along the tributary in Chiang Rai were contaminated with microcystins as well. The highest concentration detected in water was in March 2009 (0.58 ± 0.24 μg·L-1), whilst the maximum concentration in fish was recorded in April 2009 (2.68 ± 0.51 μg·kg-1 dry weight). Microcystis spp. dominated the pond waters and was positively correlated with chlorophyll a (r2=0.80) and soluble nitrate (r2=0.71). The highest concentration of the cyanobacteria was recorded in February 2009 at 4272.5 ± 62.3 mm3/m3. Results showed that total microcystin-LR concentration in fish in Chiang Rai ponds were higher than in Phayao Lake. This study suggested the possible health risks associated with the bioaccumulation of microcystins in fish (Nile tilapia) cultivated in fish ponds along the tributary in Chiang Rai and in Phayao Lake.展开更多

The mitochondrial tRNAGln/tRNA-Met/partial NADH dehydrogenase subunit 2 from 166 specimens was amplified and sequenced. A total of 54 different haplotypes were found. Highly significant genetic differences occurred between populations from different localities. The haplotype network revealed six major haplogroups(G1 to G6) belonging to different clades(clade A–E). Clade D and clade E were newly observed in this study. Haplogroup G4(clade D) was a sympatric population with haplogroup G1(clade B). The populations from northern Thailand were divided into two distinct haplogroups separated by mountain range. Genetic structure and genetic differentiation of the tokay in Southeast Asia was related to the geographical region sampled, spatial distance and natural barriers. Our results indicate that red-spotted tokay geckos from mainland Southeast Asia are cryptically diverse. Morphological comparisons, in addition to an intensive genetic investigation covering the whole species range, are needed to clarify the systematic and population structure of this species group.展开更多

Both strains are of great interests due to their high proteolytic activity. Initially, they were subjected to morphological determination and a series of biochemical tests. These bacteria were Gram-positive, endospore-forming bacilli. Based on 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, the identities of the strains S2-3 and S4-5 were confirmed as Bacillus thuringiensis and B. subtilis, respectively. Additionally, the two strains were also evaluated for their antibiogram profiles. It was found that they were susceptible to chloramphenicol, erythromycin, kanamycin, tetracycline and vancomycin and resistant to ampicillin and intermediately susceptible to bacitracin.展开更多

The 0.07BaTiO33-0.93Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3 ceramic is synthesized using a combination of Zn3Nb2O8 B-site precursor and BaTiO33 perovskite phase stabilizer. Then, x-ray absorption spectroscopy and density functional theory are employed to calculate the local structure configuration and formation energy of the prepared samples. Ba2+ is found to replace Pb2+ in AA-site with Zn2+ occupying BB-site in Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3, while in the neighboring structure, Ti4+4+ replaces Nb5+5+ in BB-site with Pb2+2+ occupying AA-site. With the substitution of BaTiO33 in Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3, the bond length between Zn2+ and Pb2+ is longer than that of the typical perovskite phase of Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3. This indicates the key role of BaTiO33 in decreasing the steric hindrance of Pb2+ lone pair, and the mutual interactions between Pb2+ lone pair and Zn2+ and the formation energy is seen to decrease. This finding of the formation energy and local structure configuration relationship can further extend a fundamental understanding of the role of BaTiO33 in stabilizing the perovskite phase in PbZn13Nb23O3-based materials, which in turn will lead to an improved preparation technique for desired electrical properties.展开更多

Sixty-four male broilers were allotted to 4 groups: a basal diet group (control group), and basal diet groups with DFG at a level of 50 ppm;with DFG at 50 ppm and FCP at 250 ppm (50 ppm DFG + 250 ppm FCP group);and with FCP at a level of 500 ppm (500 ppm FCP group). Feed intake, body weight gain, feed efficiency, carcass quality, small intestinal length and weight, and visceral organ weight were not different among groups. Furthermore, regarding intestinal villus height, villus area and crypt depth, a significant difference was not found among the groups. When these values of the control were expressed as an index of 100, the duodenal villus height of the 50 ppm DFG + 250 ppm FCP group and the 500 ppm FCP group were 114 and 119, respectively. The duodenal villus area of the 50 ppm DFG + 250 ppm FCP group and the 500 ppm FCP group were 125 and 158, respectively. These villus heights and areas are thought to be activated. On the epithelial cells on the villus apical surface in the duodenum and jejunum, the 50 ppm DFG + 250 ppm FCP group had protuberated cells into the intestinal lumen and deeper cells at the sites of recently exfoliated cells, suggesting that these cells are activated. The present results indicate that small amounts of fermented corncob powder can be used as a feed supplement when mixed with fermented ginger powder, due to the synergy between the two ingredients, resulting in a 6% increase in body weight gain。展开更多

Fish data and water quality parameters were collected from January to December 2012. A total of 10,596 fish specimens of 97 taxa in 48 families from four stations, Kham Bay (7°30'9.21''N, 99°18'7.67''E), Boonkong Bay (7°31'2.49''N, 99°17'40.09''E), Ban Pak Klong (7°36'17.67''N, 99°16'32.89''E) and Sai Cape (7°38'30.19''N, 99°14'49.85''E), were collected using gillnets of three different mesh sizes. The three most diverse families were Leiognathidae, Carangidae and Tetraodontidae, respectively. The dominant species were Atherinomorus duodecimalis, Sillago sihama and Pelates quadrilineatus. Specimens were highly abundant in July and less so in January and species richness was high in July and less so in March. Fish assemblages were classified into two patterns and the average of the Shannon index was 2.7. The environmental parameters in each month were analyzed by one-way ANOVA which did not show significant difference (P > 0.05) of pH, orthophosphate, wind speed and rainfall. Fish diversity and assemblage, and environmental parameters, were categorized into four groups. These could be promoted to local fisheries so that conservation programs cpuld be set up to ensure the ecological sustainability of seagrass meadows.展开更多

文摘Re-deposition is a non-volatile etching by-product in reactive ion etching systems that is well known to cause dirt on etching work.In this study,we propose a novel etching method called the polymer-rich re-deposition technique, used particularly for improving the etched sidewall where the re-deposition is able to accumulate. This technique works by allowing the accumulated re-deposition on the etched sidewall to have a higher polymer species than the new compounds in the non-volatile etching by-product.The polymer-rich re-deposition is easy to remove along with the photo-resist mask residual at the photo-resist strip step using an isopropyl alcohol-based solution. The traditional, additional cleaning process step used to remove the re-deposition material is not required anymore,so this reduces the overall processing time. The technique is demonstrated on an Al_(2)O_(3)-TiC substrate by C4F8 plasma, and the EDX spectrum confirms that the polymer re-deposition has C and F atoms as the dominant atoms, suggesting that it is a C–F polymer re-deposition.
文摘Climate is an important factor for aquaculture production. The differences among sites at higher and lower elevation provided insights into the kind of changes in risks farmers may face as climate changes that could be helpful in developing adaptation strategies for individual farmers and the sector as a whole.

文摘Understanding the environmental factors that influence tree species composition is essential for successful management of biodiversity and sustainable use of community forest resources. This study aims to assess tree species composition and distribution in the deciduous Ban Mae Chiang Rai Lum Community Forest in Northern Thailand and to analyze the influence of environmental factors on tree biodiversity in the forest. We conducted a stratified systematic sampling of the forest’s total area of 3925 ha,and twenty-five 0.16 ha survey plots were established in three different stands of the deciduous forests to estimate and characterize the difference in biological diversity among the stands.Canonical correspondence analysis(CCA)was used to investigate the environment factors affecting such differences in biodiversity of the stands. The results showed a high diversity of trees in the forest as 197 species,144 genera, and 62 plant families were recorded. The CCA ordination identified the environmental factors—the most important of which were elevation, distance to streams, soil moisture, organic matter, and distance to communities—that signifi-cantly influenced the diversity and distribution of tree species(p<0.05)in the community forest. Our findings indicate that the implementation of drought reduction measures such as building check dams, fire protection, and monitoring community forest-product usage would be recommended to further biodiversity conservation and the sustainable use of community forest resources.
文摘This study determined the levels of microcystins in water and fish from Phayao Lake, Phayao Province and selected fish ponds along the Ing River tributary in Chiang Rai Province. This study suggested the possible health risks associated with the bioaccumulation of microcystins in fish (Nile tilapia) cultivated in fish ponds along the tributary in Chiang Rai and in Phayao Lake.

文摘This study was performed to explore the genetic diversity and genetic structure of red-spotted tokay geckos(Gekko gecko) from 23 different geographical areas in Thailand, Lao PDR and Cambodia. Morphological comparisons, in addition to an intensive genetic investigation covering the whole species range, are needed to clarify the systematic and population structure of this species group.

文摘In this paper, sine trigonometry operational laws(ST-OLs)have been extended to neutrosophic sets(NSs)and the operations and functionality of these laws are studied. Then, extending these ST-OLs to complex neutrosophic sets(CNSs)forms the core of thiswork. Some of themathematical properties are proved based on ST-OLs.Fundamental operations and the distance measures between complex neutrosophic numbers(CNNs)based on the ST-OLs are discussed with numerical illustrations.Further the arithmetic and geometric aggregation operators are established and their properties are verified with numerical data. The general properties of the developed sine trigonometry weighted averaging/geometric aggregation operators for CNNs(ST-WAAO-CNN&ST-WGAO-CNN)are proved.A decision making technique based on these operators has been developed with the help of unsupervised criteria weighting approach called Entropy-ST-OLs-CNDM(complex neutrosophic decision making)method.A case study for material selection has been chosen to demonstrate the ST-OLs of CNDM method. To check the validity of the proposed method, entropy based complex neutrosophic CODAS approach with ST-OLs has been executed numerically and a comparative analysis with the discussion of their outcomes has been conducted. The proposed approach proves to be salient and effective for decision making with complex information.
文摘Objective: To establish a simple, rapid, precise and accurate high performance thin layer chromatography(HPTLC) method with densitometric detection for the determination of vitexin in Passiflora foetida Linn.(P. foetida). Methods: Ethanolic extract of the plant leaf powder was used for the experimental work.Separation was performed on silica gel 60 F254 HPTLC plates with ethyl acetate:methanol: distilled water: formic acid in the proportion of 50:2:3:6(v/v), as the mobile phase. The determination was carried out using the densitometric absorbance mode at340 nm.Results: Vitexin response was linear over the range of 2.5–17.5 mg/m L with a correlation coefficient of 0.996. Intraday and interday precision studies showed the relative SD was< 3%. Accuracy of the method was determined and the average recovery was 100.3%.The limit of quantitation and limit of detection were 0.879 and 0.290 mg/m L, respectively. The contents of vitexin in P. foetida leaf extracts were within the range of 0.030%–0.310%.Conclusions: The method was evaluated for sensitivity, accuracy, precision and reproducibility. Each analysis by HPTLC is less expensive than current methods. This method is suitable for routine quality control of raw material of the leaves of P. foetida extract and its products.

文摘In this study, two bacilli strains namely S2-3 and S4-5, isolated from Terasi, a traditional fermented seafood product of Indonesia, were studied in terms of their phenotypic and genotypic properties. It was found that they were susceptible to chloramphenicol, erythromycin, kanamycin, tetracycline and vancomycin and resistant to ampicillin and intermediately susceptible to bacitracin.

文摘The local structure of an alternative Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-based perovskite ceramic is investigated. This finding of the formation energy and local structure configuration relationship can further extend a fundamental understanding of the role of BaTiO33 in stabilizing the perovskite phase in PbZn13Nb23O3-based materials, which in turn will lead to an improved preparation technique for desired electrical properties.
文摘To determine whether dried fermented ginger (DFG), fermented with Japanese mugwort silage juice, could be replaced by fermented corncob powder (FCP) as a of feed ingredient source without significant body weight decrease or damage to visceral organs (using gross anatomical observation), to intestinal villi (using light microscopy), or to the epithelial cells on the villus apical surface (using scanning electron microscopy) the following investigation was performed. The present results indicate that small amounts of fermented corncob powder can be used as a feed supplement when mixed with fermented ginger powder, due to the synergy between the two ingredients, resulting in a 6% increase in body weight gain。
文摘We investigated the relationship between environmental variables as descriptors of the fish community, in terms of species diversity indices and fish assemblage patterns, in seagrass meadows at Sikao Bay, Trang Province, Thailand. These could be promoted to local fisheries so that conservation programs cpuld be set up to ensure the ecological sustainability of seagrass meadows.
