The ego plays a major role in our life. Practicing Zen in management takes the manager to a level of egolessness. Zen finds its source in the experience of Shakyamuni Buddha, who in the process of enlightenment came across the elements of mindfulness and concentration--The noble eightfold path. These are key elements of success for the "managers in making". The purpose of this paper consists in rethinking today's management systems in order to look for ways of management which are better adapted to human life. It is assumed that a management practice which takes into consideration of the characteristics of human life must be accepted by a large number of people and would be effective and sustainable. This paper highlights the eight elements of"The noble eightfold path" and its effective implications in management for the "managers in making" process--A guide towards success.展开更多

Results of this study indicate that the debt financing of the listed companies in China can reduce the agency cost with a positive governance effect that promotes firm value. Male, better educated, short-tenured, and financially experienced managers are more likely to be overconfident and prefer debt financing. Specifically, the manager's age, level of education, and work experience can significantly promote the effect of debt financing on firm value. Compared with SOEs, private enterprises can improve their firm value more significantly through debt financing;the education and work experience of the managers of private enterprises are more positively correlated with debt financing and can more significantly improve firm value through debt financing. This paper's findings suggest that the manager's characteristics and firm ownership nature must be taken into account to reach valid conclusions on the governance effects of debt financing on firm value. Meanwhile, these conclusions help unravel the mechanism and economic implications of debt financing, and contribute to the improvement of the capital structure decisions and human resources management practices of China's listed companies. This study not only enriches the literature and empirical evidence on the correlation between managers' characteristics and firm financing, but indicate that managers' characteristics and firm ownership are important considerations for investigating the governance effects of debt financing on firm value and have a vital impact on the formulation and implementation of firm financing decisions.展开更多

The purpose of the present study is to investigate the feasibility of TQM model and the attitude of the managers of health field of Yazd medical sciences university towards it. The present study was a descriptive and analytical one which was cross-section ally conducted from 2010 to 2011. The population under study consisted of the managers of the unit of staff vice-chancellor for health and treatment, the managers of health system and centers of cities and also the managers of Yazd’s public hospitals. 64 people were chosen using the formula for calculating the number of samples. A questionnaire with 48 questions was used. The questionnaire’s validity was approved by the faculty members whose major is management and its reliability by using α-cronbach 87%. To analyze the data, the software SPSS V.17 was used. Scoring method was based on likert. The findings of the study show that, considering feasibility of TQM, there is a significant relation between the awareness and attitude of the managers of health and treatment field on one side and the variables, age and University degree, on the other side p = 0.001. Considering binary logistic regression and the results obtained in the form of inter and backward stepwise, the most important factors affecting the feasibility of TQM among the managers of health and treatment field are the level of awareness and attitude with the predicted accuracy 79.3% and 87.9% respectively.展开更多

The aim of this investigation is to determine the mean scores of the possibility of implementing the MCIT standards in Khorasan Razavi hospitals, from the perspective of managers. This was a cross sectional descriptive-analytic study conducted in two steps in all hospitals. In the first step, the applicability of the standards in hospitals was studied. In the second step, the current status of hospitals was compared with international standards MCIT. In order to determine the validity of the questionnaires, opinions of professors and experts were acquired. Regarding the reliability, the SPSS V. 12 calculated the value of Cronbach’s to be 0.95 for the first questionnaire and 0.86 for the second questionnaire. Data were analyzed using statistic tests of one way ANOVA and t-test. The level of significance was fixed at 0.5. In the 16 hospitals studied, the mean and standard deviation of MCIT were (57.25 ± 13.74). The MCIT standards are applicable in hospitals of Khorasan Razavi according to half (49.4%) of managers;nonetheless, their application requires greater efforts by the hospitals.展开更多

文摘Objectives Robotic-assisted surgery(RAS)is a minimally invasive technique practiced in multiple specialties.Standard training is essential for the acquisition of RAS skills. The cost of RAS is considered to be high, which makes it a burden for institutes and unaffordable for patients. This systematic literature review(SLR)focused on the various RAS training methods applied in different surgical specialties,as well as the cost elements of RAS,and was to summarize the opportunities and challenges associated with scaling up RAS.Methods An SLR was carried out based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses reporting guidelines. The PubMed,EBSCO,and Scopus databases were searched for reports from January 2018 through January 2024.Full-text reviews and research articles in the English language from Asia-Pacific countries were included.Articles that outlined training and costs associated with RAS were chosen. Results The most common training system is the da Vinci system. The simulation technique, which includes dry-lab,wet-lab,and virtual reality training, was found to be a common and important practice. The cost of RAS encompasses the installation and maintenance costs of the robotic system, the operation theatre rent, personnel cost, surgical instrument and material cost, and other miscellaneous charges. The synthesis of SLR revealed the challenges and opportunities regarding RAS training and cost. Conclusions The results of this SLR will help stakeholders such as decision-makers,influencers,and end users of RAS to understand the significance of training and cost in scaling up RAS from a managerial perspective. For any healthcare innovation to reach a vast population,cost-effectiveness and standard training are crucial.

文摘This study explores whether manager mobility can influence syndications between private equity(PE)firms by constructing coupling network models.Using data from China’s private equity market from 1993 to 2017,we found that driving forces, resistant forces, and network structure play significant roles in determining resource flows between PE firms.Specifically, driving forces indicate that managers moving from domestic and foreign PE firms to state-owned PE firms are more likely to induce syndications.Furthermore,if the manager is promoted when changing jobs, mobility is likely to enhance the flow of resources.Resistant forces indicate that increased geographical distance reduces syndications. As for the influence of structure,if managers leave PE firms with higher status, they are more likely to induce syndications. This study contributes to the coupling network literature by providing a clarified three-factor framework.By exploring the characteristic of managers in state-owned private equity firms,we specified the syndication theory in China. This study can help private equity firms hire valuable managers and expand syndication networks in practice.
文摘This study examines the influence of green supply chain management(GSCM)practices and green culture on green performance in the manufacturing sector through the mediating effect of proactive environmental strategy(PES)and green product innovation(GPI).A quantitative approach was followed, and partial least squares structural equation modeling(PLS-SEM)was used for hypothesis testing.A questionnaire was used to collect data, and 663 questionnaires were included in the final analysis.Contrary to our expectations, the results showed that GscM practices do not influence green performance, whereas green culture is positively related to green performance. The results show that PES and GPI explain the relationship between GSCM practices, green culture, and green performance.PES and GPI sequentially mediated GSCM practices, green culture, and green performance. Moreover,PES and GPI significantly improved green performance. This study aims to extend the scholarly appreciation of GscM practices and the impact of green culture on green performance by examining the mediating effects of PES and GPI on these relationships. The implications and future research avenues are also discussed.
文摘Managers'characteristics have been identified to have an influence on how they perceive innovation. This study examines the role of top managers'experience and how it influences their propensity to innovate. It employs a logit model to analyze data from the World Bank's Enterprise Surveys, primarily from small-and medium-sized enterprises in Russia. We justify the positive effect of managers'years of experience as an influential factor of enterprises'innovativeness in developing countries. The results show that top managers'years of experience directly affect innovation.
