Thus, the phenomenon of sexism... Sexism is a phenomenon that exists to a varying extent in different societies and nations. As a mirror of society and a communicating tool, language reflects the social views and values. Thus, the phenomenon of sexism will naturally, be reflected in the use of language. This thesis will probe sexism in English in terms of word formation, word order and word meaning. Then the thesis analyzes the reasons for the existence of sexism in the English language and proposes some measures to eliminate the linguistic sexism. However, only by removing the sexist conception and improving women's social status can linguistic sexism get eliminated. Gender equality is most essential precondition to realize linguistic equality. 展开更多
