The Relationship between Father-Love Absence and Loneliness:Based on the Perspective of the Social Functionalist Theory and the Social Needs Theory

Fathers play an important role in adolescents’development,which is significant for their development and influences their mental health,including feeling of loneliness.However,the effects and mechanisms of father-love absence on individual loneliness are not clear.Based on the social functionalist theory and the social needs theory,this study examines the influence of individual fatherlove absence on loneliness and its underlying mechanisms.A questionnaire survey was administered to 319 junior high school students and 1,476 high school students.The results showed that adolescents with father-love absence had higher levels of loneliness,and that father-love absence affected loneliness levels through mediating pathways of individual gratitude,peer relationships,and gratitude to peer relationships.This study not only confirms the negative effects of father-love absence on adolescents’loneliness,but also explains the mediate roles of individual gratitude and peer relationships.It enriches the theoretical system related to family education and has important theoretical and practical implications for further interventions on adolescents’mental health from the perspective of fatherless parenting.

How Child Maltreatment Enduringly Impacts Aggression: A Perspective Based on Personality Solidification

It has been shown that early experiences of maltreatment can stably influence an individual’s internal and externalaggressive behavior in adulthood. And on what mechanisms do this stability arise? From the perspective of personalitysolidification theory, this study sample of 1951 primary and secondary school students was used toexplore the relationship between child maltreatment, Big Five personality and internalized and externalizedaggression, as well as the different mechanisms of differentiation of personality components in child maltreatmenton two different natures of aggression, using four scales: The Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ), RevisedNEO Personality Inventory (NEO-PI-R), None-suicidal Self-Injury Scale and Aggression Questionnaire. The findingssuggest that (1) neuroticism plays the same mediating mechanism in the effect of child maltreatment on thepersistence of internalized and externalized aggression;and (2) conscientiousness plays a different mechanism ineffect of child maltreatment on both internalized and externalized aggression. Therefore, child maltreatmentshould be discouraged and the development of a sound personality should be guided, thus reducing future aggressivebehavior and promoting child development and social harmony.

Third-party relational governance and collaborative innovation performance:The role of IPR protection

The purpose of this study is to explore the impact of third-party relational governance on the performance of collaborative innovation in China. By integrating the relational view and innovation appropriation perspectives, this study analyses the effects of three mechanisms of third-party relational governancedco-reputation, interorganizational routines, and technological normsdon collaborative innovation performance. Additionally,this study investigates the moderating effects of the protection of intellectual Property Rights(IPR) on the relationship between third-party relational governance and collaborative innovation performance. Survey data of high-technology firms in China are used to empirically test the hypotheses. The results show that third-party relational governance has a positive effect on collaborative innovation performance and that IPR protection has different moderating effects. This study contributes to the relational governance literature by adding the perspective of third parties and analyzing three mechanisms of third-party relational governance in a single model. This study also contributes to the innovation appropriation literature by examining the role of IPR protection in governing collaborative innovation in China. Finally, this study offers suggestions on how Chinese firms should govern their collaborative innovation to remedy the limitations of a weak IPR legal institutional framework.
