Molecular modeling as a tool in studying peptide-substrate interactions provides insight on peptide adsorption conformation, adsorption energy, and stability of the peptide-inorganic interface. This work investigates the hydration and interaction of cell-adhesion peptides, specifically RGD and YIGSR, with the hydroxyapatite surface and TiO2 surface in cluster and periodic boundary condition approaches. The comparison of adsorption energies of RGD and YIGSR on both Hydroxyapatite (HA) and TiO2 surfaces reveals the similarities in adsorption energy and orientation pattern of peptides on both surfaces. The models demonstrate that initial peptide orientation affects adsorption energy for both. YIGSR is consistently more strongly adsorbed to HA-(001) surfaces and steps than RGD for both the surfaces. In addition, RGD maintained its “hairpin”-like structure during adsorption on a flat HA-(001) surface, and a slightly “relaxed hairpin” structure on TiO2 (110) surface. Adsorption energies of RGD on TiO2 (110) surface are significantly more favorable compared to HA-(001) surface, suggesting potential role of TiO2 as biomedical implants when tissue regeneration occurs via cell signaling. 展开更多

The paper considers Voss type representation of amino acids and uses FFT on the represented binary sequences to get the spectrum in the frequency domain. Based on the analysis of this spectrum by using the method of inter coefficient difference (ICD), it compares protein sequences of ND5 and ND6 category. Results obtained agree with the standard ones. The purpose of the paper is to extend the ICD method of comparison of DNA sequences to comparison of protein sequences. The topic of discussion is to develop a novel method of comparing protein sequences. The main achievements of the work are that the method applied is completely new of its kind, so far as protein sequence comparison is concerned and moreover the results of comparison agree with the previous results obtained by other methods for the same category of protein sequences. 展开更多

The construction of generalised spherical fuzzy number(GSFN)is a reliable philosophy to design and understanding of vagueness and impreciseness.In this study,at first,the authors have defined the generalised spherical fuzzy set and discussed its several properties.Then,a new score and accuracy functions have been introduced in the generalised spherical fuzzy environment which leads to a new method of conversion of fuzzy number into a crisp number.New exponential operational law has been defined for GSFNs where the bases are positive real numbers&components are GSFNs and its various algebraic properties have been studied explicitly.Using this exponential operational law,a generalised spherical weighted exponential averaging operator has been proposed,which is used to develop a multi-criteria group decision-making(MCGDM)method in the generalised spherical fuzzy environment.The newly developed MCGDM has been demonstrated through a real-life problem and its effectiveness and rationality have been shown through sensitivity analysis. 展开更多

The recent technology under development to overview the situation is the concept of Cognitive Radio (CR). Recently the Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools are being considered for the topic. AI is the core of the cognitive engine that examines the external and internal environment parameters that leads to some postulations for QoS improvement. In this article, we propose a new Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model for detection of a spectrum hole. The model is trained with some pertinent features over a channel like SNR, channel capacity, bandwidth efficiency etc. The channel capacity status could be identified in a quantized index form . This condensed matrix can be nicely applied as a protein sequence descriptor. In fact, with such a condensed representation, comparison of two protein sequences is reduced to a comparison of two such 20 × 20 matrices. As each square matrix has a unique Alley Index/normalized Alley Index, such index is conveniently used in getting distance matrix to construct Phylogenetic trees of different protein sequences. Finally protein sequence comparison is made based on these Phylogenetic trees. In this paper three types viz., NADH dehydrogenase subunit 3 (ND3), subunit 4 (ND4) and subunit 5 (ND5) of protein sequences of nine species, Human, Gorilla, Common Chimpanzee, Pygmy Chimpanzee, Fin Whale, Blue Whale, Rat, Mouse and Opossum are used for comparison. 展开更多

Bound and resonance states of helium atom have been investigated inside a quantum dot by using explicitly correlated Hylleraas type basis set within the framework of stabilization method.To be specific,precise energy eigenvalues of bound 1sns(~1S^e)(n=1-6)states and the resonance parameters i.e.positions and widths of^lS^e states due to 2sns(n=2-5)and 2pnp(n=2-5)configurations of confined helium below N=2 ionization threshold of He^+have been estimated.The two-parameter(Depth and Width)finite oscillator potential is used to represent the confining potential due to the quantum dot.It has been explicitly demonstrated that the electronic structural properties become sensitive functions of the dot size.It is observed from the calculations of ionization potential that the stability of an impurity ion within a quantum dot may be manipulated by varying the confinement parameters.A possibility of controlling the autoionization lifetime of doubly excited states of two-electron ions by tuning the width of the quantum cavity is also discussed here. 展开更多
