In this current study, the effect of varying optimized multiple laser shock peening (LSP) is studied on the surface integrity, microhardness, and mechanical properties. The results show that the LSP-treated specimens have visible signs of valleys, wavy and varying height distribution as well as dimples. However, the presence of non-uniformity and sharp protrusions was detected from the superficiality of the as-received specimen and this was so because of the SiC abrasive material used to polish the superficial layer of the specimen before the test experiment. Prior to LSP, the surface roughness was 2 μm, however, after LSP the roughness increased to 4 μm, 6 μm and 17 μm for 1, 2, and 4 impacts, respectively. High-density dislocation can also be observed close to the grain boundary because the grain boundary prevents the migration of dislocation which could lead to dislocation walls and dislocation tangles. The increase in impacts decrease the average grain size, nevertheless, the micro-strain increased after multiple impacts. Furthermore, coarse grains after LSP were transformed into finer grains. The increase in the number of impacts increases the micro-strain likewise the full-width half maximum (FWHM). Finally, the increase in microhardness increases as the LSP impacts increase.展开更多

Dynamics of intensity of the discharge plasma radiation from the different discharge gap regions in the gas pressure range (0.05-0.7 MPa) was established. It was shown that, the breakdown is occurred owing to the ionization wave, which starts from the electrode with small radius of curvature at both polarity of high voltage pulses. It is seen that formation of bright spots on the fiat electrode at the negative polarity of the electrode with small radius of curvature are observed during the changing of the discharge current polarity. It was shown that, at positive polarity of electrode with a small radius of curvature, the bright spots on the flat electrode arise due to the participation of the dynamic displacement current in the gap conductance.展开更多

文摘This article presents the results of experimental studies concerning the dynamic deformation and failure of a unidirectional carbon fiber reinforced plastic(T700/LY113)under compression. The test samples were manufactured through the filament winding of flat plates. To establish the strain rate dependencies of the strength and elastic modulus of the material, dynamic tests were carried out using a drop tower, the Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar method, and standard static tests. The samples were loaded both along and perpendicular to the direction of the reinforcing fiber. The applicability of the obtained samples for static and dynamic tests was confirmed through finite elementmodeling and the high-speed imaging of the deformation and failure of samples during testing. As a result of the conducted experimental studies, static and dynamic stress-strain curves, time dependencies of deformation and the stress and strain rates of the samples during compression were obtained.Based on these results, the strain rate dependencies of the strength and elasticity modulus in the strain rate range of 0.001-6001/s are constructed. It is shown that the strain rate significantly affects the strength and deformation characteristics of the unidirectional carbon fiber composites under compression. An increase in the strain rate by 5 orders of magnitude increased the strength and elastic modulus along the fiber direction by 42%and 50%,respectively.Perpendicular loading resulted in a strength and elastic modulus increase by 58%and 50%,respectively.The average strength along the fibers at the largest studied strain rate was about 1000MPa.The obtained results can be used to design structural elements made of polymer composite materials operating under dynamic shock loads,as well as to build models of mechanical behavior and failure criteria of such materials, taking into account the strain rate effects.

文摘Laser shock peening is a modernized surface enhancement performed methodically to improve fatigue life, enhance the hardness of the material and make coarse grains flat under the superficial layer. Finally, the increase in microhardness increases as the LSP impacts increase.

文摘An essential stage of mine design is an estimation of the steps of the first and periodic roof caving in longwall mines.Generally, this is carried out using the field experience and can be much enhanced by numerical simulation. In this work, the finite-difference method was applied coupled with the continuum damage mechanics(CDM)approach to simulate the stress-strain evolution of the rock mass with the underground opening during coal extraction. The steps and stages of roof caving were estimated relying on the numerical simulation data, and they were compared with the field data from several operating mines in the south of the Kuznetsk Basin,Russia. The dependence of the first roof caving step in simulation linearly correlates with field data. The results correspond to the actual roofs of longwall panels of the flat-dipping coal seams and the average rate of face advancement is approximately 5 m/day.
文摘In this paper, we analyze the spectral behavior(optical thickness, shape and linewidth) of laser radiation absorption under the correlation heating of ions in an ultracold plasma. The Voigt formula is used to find the absorption coefficient. The spectral line width is shown to grow with time while the optical thickness reduces. Our modeling results are in good agreement with the experimental findings reported in the literature.

文摘The results of measurements of the strength characteristics-Hugoniot elastic limit and spall strength of aluminum and aluminum alloys in different structural states under shock wave loading are presented.Single-crystals and polycrystalline technical grade aluminumА1013 and aluminum alloysА2024,АА6063Т6,А1421,A7,А7075,А3003,A5083,АА1070 in the initial coarse-grained state and ultrafine-grained or nanocrystalline structural state were investigated. The refinement of the grain structure was carried out by different methods of severe plastic deformation such as Equal Chanel Angular Pressing,Dynamic Channel Angular Pressing,High-Pressure Torsion and Accumulative Roll-Bonding.The strength characteristics of shock-loaded samples in different structural states were obtained from the analysis of the evolution of the free surface velocity histories recorded by means of laser Doppler velocimeter VISAR.The strain rates before spall fracture of the samples were in the range of 10^(4)-10^(5 )s^(-1),the maximum pressure of shock compression did not exceed 7 GPa.The results of these studies clearly demonstrate the influence of structural factors on the resistance to high-rate deformation and dynamic fracture, and it is much less than under the static and quasi-static loading.

文摘Objective of the study:We used fluorescence imaging methods of apoptosis and necrosis in human renal carcinoma A498 tumor cells in vitro to reveal the indicated forms of cell death under the combined effect of flavonoid-containing extract of Gratiola officinalis and cytostatic(cyclo-phosphamide).Materials and methods:The dyes were propidium iodide and acridine orange, which were used in the"alive and dead"test. This test helped us to identify the total number of dead cells in the forms of necrosis and apoptosis and the number of cells in which apoptosis had started,it was characterized by the appearance of apoptotic bodies or nucleus pyknosis. Results:We found the most pronounced cytotoxic activity at the ratio of extract of Gratiola officinalis and cyclophosphamide concentrations of 1∶1.The number of living cells decreased when exposed to the ratio of extract and cytostatic concentrations of 2∶1.When the ratio of concentration of the extract relative to the cytostatic increased to 3∶1,the cytostatic activity of the extract began to appear, the total number of tumor cells decreased. The number of cells with nucleus pyknosis and the number of cells with apoptosis signs significantly increased at a 3∶1 ratio of extract and cytostatic concentrations, which confirms the presence of pro-apoptotic activity of the studied combination. This trend indicates the dependence of a certain form of cell death(apoptosis, necrosis)on the ratio of extract and cytostatic doses, and it also demon-strates the cytostatic and cytotoxic effects of this combination. Conclusion:Fluorescence methods of investigation in the"alive and dead"test allowed us to visualize the forms of cell death of human kidney carcinoma A498 by combined exposure to the fiavonoid-containing extract of Gratiola officinalis and cytostatic(cyclophosphamide)24 h after exposure. We found that the combination with a concentration ratio of the extract and cyclophosphamide of 3:1 has the greatest effectiveness due to stimulation of the cytostatic effect and cytotoxic effect.
文摘The effect of air pressure(12.5,25,50,and 100 kPa)on the gen eration of runaway electron beams in a non-uniform electric field when applying voltage pulses(~35 kV)with a rise time of?200 ns has been studied. The results show that the discharge has various stages:streamer, diffuse, and spark.Initially,a wide streamer develops in the gap and a diffuse discharge is formed.A spark is formed u 100 ns after the breakdown. The current pulse of a supershort avalanche electron beam(SAEB)was measured with a collector at various pressures of air.Experiments show that there are two modes of generation of run away electrons. At an air pressure of 25-100 kPa,a single SAEB current pulse with a full width at half-maximum(FWHM)of 120-140 ps is observed. At the air pressure of 12.5 kPa,two current pulses of the electron beam are observed.FWHM of the first and second current pulses are ul40ps and u300 ps,respectively. The current pulse amplitude of the second electron beam is higher than that of the first one,but the electron energy is less.

文摘Optical immersion clearing is a technique that has been widely studied for more than two decades and that is used to originate a temporary transparency effect in biological tissues. If applied in cooperation with clinical methods it provides optimization of diagnosis and treatment procedures. This technique turns biological tissues more transparent through two main mechanisms-tissue dehydration and refractive index(RI)matching between tissue compo-nents.Such matching is obtained by partial replacement of interstit ial water by a biocompat ible agent that presents higher RI and it can be completely rever sible by natural rehydration in vrivo or by assisted rehydration in ex vivo tissues.Experimental data to characterize and discriminate between the two mechanisms and to find new ones are necessary.Using a simple method, based on collimated transmittance and thickness measurements made from muscle samples under treatment,we have estimated the diffusion properties of glucose, ethylene glycol(EG)and water that were used to perform such char acterization and discrimination.Comparing these properties with data from literature that characterize their diffusion in water we have observed that musde cell membrane permeability limits agent and water diffusion in the muscle. The same experi-mental data has allowed to calculate the optical dearing(OC)eficiency and make an inter-pretation of the internal changes that occurred in muscle during the treatments. The same methodology can now be used to perform similar studies with other agents and in other tissues in order to solve engineering problems at design of inexpensive and robust technologies for a consider.able improvement of optical tomogr aphic techmiques with better contrast and in depth imaging.

文摘The formation of runaway electron pre-ionized diffuse discharges at the pressures 0.05-0.7 MPa of in air, argon, nitrogen, and SF6 in an inhomogeneous electric field was investigated. It was shown that, at positive polarity of electrode with a small radius of curvature, the bright spots on the flat electrode arise due to the participation of the dynamic displacement current in the gap conductance.

文摘Supershort avalanche electron beam(SAEB)plays an important role in nanosecond-pulse discharges. This paper aims at reviewing ex-periments results on characteritics of SAEB and its spectra in different gases in nanosecond-pulse discharges. All the joint experiments were carried in the Institute of High Current Electronics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In these experiments, the generation of a SAEB in SF 6 in an inhomogeneous electric field was studied on three generators with pulse rise times of 0.3,0.5 and~2 ns.Firstly, the comparison of SAEB parameters in SF 6 with those obtained in other gases(air, nitrogen, argon, and krypton)is introduced.Secondly, the SAEB spectra in SF 6 and air at pressures of 10 kPa(75 torr),and 0.1 MPa(750 torr)are reviewed and discussed.Finally,1.5-D theoretical simulation of the supershort pulse of the fast electron beam in a coaxial diode filled with SF 6 at atmospheric pressure is described. The simulation was carried out in the framework of hybrid model for discharge and runaway electron kinetics. The above research progress can provide better understanding of the investigation into the mechanism of nanosecond-pulse discharges.
