An Analysis of English Majors＇ Leaming Motivation in Newly-Founded Universities- A Case Study of Ningbo Dahongying University＊

Motivation is an inner state that arouses individual＇s desire for a goal and maintains their efforts in a certain direction and time. By analyzing the current situation of motivation problems for English majors in Ningbo Dahongying University, the author puts forward some suggestions on strengthening learners＇ motivation with a view to developing the learners＇ autonomous learning abilities. The author finds that using the content of regular college classroom teaching as a meaningful context for the development of responsibility can enhance the learning effect. The teacher＇s guiding role in autonomous learning should never be ignored.

A Survey of Learning Motivation among Junior and Senior English Majors in Non-governmental Universities——A Case Study in Ningbo Dahongying University

Motivation is an important factor to English learning,it plays an important role.In this thesis,the instrument used in the study is a questionnaire,and this thesis was conducted on December 5th,2016 at Ningbo Dahongying University involving 182 students.Based on the questionnaire investigation,this thesis discusses the learning motivation of English major juniors and seniors in Ningbo Dahongying University from the motivation types,factors and strategies.

Developmental Application of Roof Greening against the Background of “Sponge City”: A Case Study of Ningbo City

Characteristic and Functions of Architectural Cultures in Traditional Villages of Ningbo

Further promotion of urbanization has resulted in the broken integrity of architectural environment and cultural system of traditional villages, and some traditional villages with historical architectural styles have been on the verge of extinction. Against the background of building "beautiful Zhejiang and good life", Ningbo City has to optimize the livable environment continuously, integrate natural, humanistic, green, characteristic and comfortable elements into the beautiful countryside construction, thus it is urgent to explore the cultural characteristics and functions of architectural environment in traditional villages. Cultural characteristics and functions of architectural environment in traditional villages of Ningbo should be more systematic, legalized, and scientific. This paper reviewed concepts and cultural connotations of traditional villages, and integrated cultural characteristics and functions of regional architectural environment in traditional villages of Ningbo, and provided references for theoretic researches on the formation of characteristic regional architectural cultures in traditional villages of Ningbo.

Word-Guessing Ability in English Reading Comprehension of Non-English Major Students in Private University

In order to provide English as a foreign language students with effective English language learning approaches, this investigation is focused on how students deal with words when they are doing reading material. It is found that most students can use some skills to guess the unknown words in reading materials, such as explanatory analysis skills, syntactic analysis skills, and structural analysis skills, while they have overlooked how these words are organized metaphorically and metonymically. This investigation will provide students with the target language knowledge metaphors and metonymy, examining the impact on computer vocabulary guessing and reading comprehension through teaching the concept of metaphor and metonymy. In this research, the new word-guessing skill based on the knowledge of metaphor and metonymy was applied to word-guessing teaching in reading comprehension of computer material. The research question is studied in this experiment： Can the training of using ways of word-guessing base on the knowledge of metonymy and metaphor promote students＇ ability of word guessing in reading comprehension of computer material？ The results show that students have gradually paid attention to the word-guessing skill in reading process. The skills based on the knowledge of metaphor and metonymy have helped students get the right meaning of the unknown words in computer reading materials. It has really enlarged students＇ vocabulary and improved their confidence in finishing reading.

On Translation of Chinese Folk Culture Based on Skopos Theory——A Case Study of Commentary of Folk Custom Gallery in Ningbo Museum

A Study on Influence of Students'Intercultural Communication Competence in the Application-oriented University through Short-term Overseas Study Tours

Short-term overseas study tours, as a new type of cross-cultural autonomy education in the era of globalization, aims to help students improve their intercultural communication competence through tourism and cultural learning. Many studies' subjects are concentrated on the higher learning institutions. However, few of them are concerned about application-oriented university students' ICC. So the behavior and role of students' ICC in the overseas study tours in 2016 and 2017 in one of the application-oriented universities in Zhejiang province becomes the main focus. It exams from three aspects: intercultural attitudes, knowledge and behaviors. Basically, students benefit a lot from study tours, especially in the aspect of practical communication, among which, they change from shy, inexperienced learners to be brave, confident, and skilled in the tours. Also, considering the problems of host school are existed, the suggestions proposed by participants that practical courses of destination countries had better be arranged for students to understand and adapt to it beforehand. Besides, more communication and interactions between students and teachers should be increased to create a more active and relaxed classroom atmosphere, which contribute to mobilize students' initiative and enthusiasm to better become a complementary influence to promote students' ICC.

Image denoising algorithm of refuge chamber by combining wavelet transform and bilateral filtering

In order to preferably identify infrared image of refuge chamber, reduce image noises of refuge chamber and retain more image details, we propose the method of combining two-dimensional discrete wavelet transform and bilateral denoising. First, the wavelet transform is adopted to decompose the image of refuge chamber, of which low frequency component remains unchanged. Then, three high-frequency components are treated by bilateral filtering, and the image is reconstructed. The result shows that the combination of bilateral filtering and wavelet transform for image denoising can better retain the details which are included in the image, while providing better visual effect. This is superior to using either bilateral filtering or wavelet transform alone. It is useful for perfecting emergency refuge system of coal mines.

Water Treatment for Waterscapes in Shimao Butterfly Bay Phase-II Project of Kunshan City, China

To guarantee water quality of waterscapes in Shimao Butterfly Bay of Kunshan City, maintain the water quality above the grade-IV specified in National Standards of Surface Water Environmental Quality (GB3838-2002), and achieve the low-cost, long-term and sustainable water maintenance, basic principles of ecological engineering and aquatic ecosystem balance theory were taken as the guidance of water treatment, and several water treatment techniques were applied, for example, configuration of water plants, raising aquatic animals, and putting in microorganisms. In addition, primary water supply, water replenishing and flood drainage were considered in the construction of landscape rivers to ensure landscape effects of the lake. Through the long-term water quality guarantee of principal waterscapes in Shimao Butterfly Bay, rewarding attempts were made in guaranteeing water quality of waterscapes, and favorable effects were achieved.

A mini-review on econophysics:Comparative study of Chinese and western financial markets

We present a review of our recent research in econophysics, and focus on the comparative study of Chinese and western financial markets. By virtue of concepts and methods in statistical physics, we investigate the time correlations and spatial structure of financial markets based on empirical high-frequency data. We discover that the Chinese stock market shares common basic properties with the western stock markets, such as the fat-tail probability distribution of price returns, the long-range auto-correlation of volatifities, and the persistence probability of volatilities, while it exhibits very different higher-order time correlations of price returns and volatilities, spatial correlations of individual stock prices, and large-fluctuation dynamic behaviors. Furthermore, multi-agent-based models are developed to simulate the microscopic interaction and dynamic evolution of the stock markets.

Innovation Practices of Virtual Simulation Teaching Method in Landscape Architecture Majors

Based on foreign and domestic literature about teaching theories and simulation application,advantages and disadvantages of simulation teaching and other teaching methods were compared,organization forms and efficiency of simulation teaching in network environment discussed,students' learning patterns and styles summarized,and the theoretical research foundation for the simulation teaching and students' learning system in network environment established.Common problems of simulation teaching and corresponding students' learning styles were discussed,application and supervision system of simulation teaching established,students' learning styles innovated.Views and innovations of virtual simulation teaching in simulation teaching of landscape architecture were given,and the research framework sorted out as reference.

A Study of the Differences Between China and UK Classroom Teaching in Middle Schools Based on a BBC Documentary

This paper aims to analyze the differences between China and UK classroom teaching in middle school based on a case study ofa BBC documentary, Are Our Kids Tough Enough-Chinese School. The author found that there were many significant differences between the two countries in terms of the relationship between teacher and student, classroom teaching style and teaching methods.

Variations in epidemic distribution with some characteristic parameters

Considering the spread of an epidemic among a population of mobile agents that can get infected and maintain the infection for a period, we investigate the variation in the homogeneity of the distribution of the epidemic with the remaining time of infection % the velocity modulus of the agent v, and the infection rate a. We find that the distribution of the infected cluster size is always exponential. By analyzing the variation of the characteristic infected cluster size coefficient, we show that the inhomogeneity of epidemic distribution increases with an increase in τ for very low v, while it decreases with an increase in τ- for moderate v. The epidemic distribution also tends to a homogeneous state as both v and a increase.

Lateral-Coupled Junctionless IZO-Based Electric-Double-Layer Thin-Film Transistors Gated by Solid-State Phosphorosilicate Glass Electrolyte

We describe the lateral-coupled junctionless indium-zinc-oxide （IZO） thin-film transistors （TFTs） in which there are no junctions between channel and source/drain electrodes and with solid-state phosphorosilieate glass electrolyte （PSG） gating. Due to the three-dimensional high proton conduction and lateral coupled electric-double- layer （EDL） capacitance （〉 1 #Flora2） of the PSG, the low voltage （2.0 V） junctionless IZO TFTs and the dual eoplanar gate devices are obtained. An AND logic function is demonstrated on the basis of the junctionless EDL-TFTs. Such devices are promising for applications in pH sensors, humidity sensors, biosensors, and neuron network simulation.

Effects of Coupling Aquatic Plants with Microorganisms on Inland Water Purification

[Objective]The study was aimed to find out the effects of coupling aquatic plants with microorganisms on inland water purification.[Method]The heavily polluted urban river was selected as the experimental object to carry out the water purification test and study the purification mechanisms.The compound microorganisms consisting of photosynthetic bacteria,Pseudomonas and Bacillus were used as the functional microbial,while the functional plants were the aquatic plants mainly consisting of irises,cattails and Pontederia cordata.The microbubble plug-flow aerator was used to achieve targeted control of oxygenation and functional microbial layout.[Result]Coupling different kinds of aquatic plants with different microorganisms had different treatment effects on the purification of inland river water environment.[Conclusion]The coupling technology of aquatic plant and microorganisms to purify urban inland water should be the future direction of water pollution treatment.
