Understanding their evolution is of great significance not only in scientific research but also in applications potential for human society. The rapid growth of genomic resources provides unprecedented opportunities to dissect the evolutionary histories and molecular mechanisms underlying the distinct characteristics of ruminants. Here we summarize our current understanding of the genetic, morphological, and ecological diversity of ruminants and provide prospects for future studies.展开更多

In this study, the genome size of 14 species of fireflies (Lampyridae) (two genera in Lampyrinae, three genera in Luciolinae, and one genus in subfamily incertae sedis) were estimated by propidium iodide (PI)-based flow cytometry. The haploid genome sizes of Lampyridae ranged from 0.42 to 1.31 pg, a 3.1-fold span. Genome sizes of the fireflies varied within the tested subfamilies and genera. Lamprigera and Pyrocoelia species had large and small genome sizes, respectively. No correlation was found between genome size and morphological traits such as body length, body width, eye width, and antennal length. Our data provide additional information on genome size estimation of the firefly family Lampyridae. Furthermore, this study will help clarify the cost and difficulty of genome sequencing programs for non-model organisms and will help promote studies on firefly genome evolution.展开更多

Based on the equivalent viscous damping theory and using curve fitting to describe the rule of the dissipation factor of damping alloy changing with stress, the nonlinear constitutive relation of Zn-27Al-1Cu damping alloy is given. The nonlinear spring damping contact model is adopted to describe the contact force of the clearance joint.Based on the nonlinear finite element contact theory, the outer impact contact force between the mechanism and its working environment is analyzed, and a coupled dynamic model of structural impact and mechanism motion with clearance joint is put forward. A dynamic model is established for the cannonball transport mechanism partly adhering Zn-27Al-1Cu damping alloy layer and constraint layer under complex impact conditions. At last, the feasibility of the method presented is proved by numerical simulation.展开更多

This paper reports on a numerical investigation of detailed flow structures in an isolated transonic compressor rotor-NASA Rotor 37 at near stall and stalled conditions aimed at improving understanding of changes in 3D tip leakage flow structures with rotating stall inception.Steady and unsteady 3D Navier-Stokes analyses were conducted to investigate flow structures in the same rotor. For steady analysis, the predicted results agree well with the experimental data for the estimation of compressor rotor global performance. For unsteady flow analysis, the unsteady flow nature caused by the breakdown of the tip leakage vortex in blade tip region in the transonic compressor rotor at near stall condition has been captured with a single blade passage. On the other hand, the time-accurate unsteady computations of multi-blade passage at near stall condition indicate that the unsteady breakdown of the tip leakage vortex triggered the short length-scale-spike type rotating stall inception at blade tip region. It was the forward spillage of the tip leakage flow at blade leading edge resulting in the spike stall inception. As the mass flow ratio is decreased, the rotating stall cell was further developed in the blade passage.展开更多

The steady-state weights solution to the APA algorithm is calculated in different step-sizes, which is significantly different from the iteration method. The weights error in steady-state is proved to be zero as the number of the input direction vector increases to infinity, ensuring that the estimated weights of the APA algorithm in steady-state are unbiased and consistent. The sensitivity of the step-size parameter for the steady-state weights is also analyzed. Simulation results show that the steady-state weights of the APA algorithm, obtained from the proposed method, are closer to the true weights than the estimated steady-state weights as determined by the traditional iteration method.展开更多
