Real-time moving object detection for video monitoring systems

Moving object detection is one of the challenging problems in video monitoring systems, especially when the illumination changes and shadow exists. Amethod for real-time moving object detection is described. Anew background model is proposed to handle the illumination varition problem. With optical flow technology and background subtraction, a moving object is extracted quickly and accurately. An effective shadow elimination algorithm based on color features is used to refine the moving obj ects. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can update the background exactly and quickly along with the varition of illumination, and the shadow can be eliminated effectively. The proposed algorithm is a real-time one which the foundation for further object recognition and understanding of video mum＇toting systems.

PD-type iterative learning control for nonlinear time-delay system with external disturbance

The PD-type iterative learning control design of a class of affine nonlinear time-delay systems with external disturbances is considered. Sufficient conditions guaranteeing the convergence of the n-norm of the tracking error are derived. It is shown that the system outputs can be guaranteed to converge to desired trajectories in the absence of external disturbances and output measurement noises. And in the presence of state disturbances and measurement noises, the tracking error will be bounded uniformly. A numerical simulation example is presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

Feedforward and feedback optimal control for linear time-varying systems with persistent disturbances

The optimal control problem for linear time-varying systems affected by external persistent disturbances with known dynamic characteristics but unknown initial conditions is consider and a design procedure of a feedforward and feedbaek optimal controller is presented. The condition of existence and uniqueness of the control law is given. The disturbanee observer is proposed to make the feedforward control law realizable physically. Simulation results demonstrate that the feedforward and feedbaek optimal control law is more effective and robust than the elassical state feedbaek control law with respect to external disturbanees.

Family genetic algorithms based on gene exchange and its application

Genetic Algorithms （GA） are a search techniques based on mechanics of nature selection and have already been successfully applied in many diverse areas. However, increasing samples show that GA＇s performance is not as good as it was expected to be. Criticism of this algorithm includes the slow speed and premature result during convergence procedure. In order to improve the performance, the population size and individuals＇ space is emphatically described. The influence of individuals＇ space and population size on the operators is analyzed. And a novel family genetic algorithm （FGA） is put forward based on this analysis. In this novel algorithm, the optimum solution families closed to quality individuals is constructed, which is exchanged found by a search in the world space. Search will be done in this microspace. The family that can search better genes in a limited period of time would win a new life. At the same time, the best gene of this micro space with the basic population in the world space is exchanged. Finally, the FGA is applied to the function optimization and image matching through several experiments. The results show that the FGA possessed high performance.

Fuzzy color morphological sieves

To solve the problems that exist in the color morphological sieves, a new fuzzy color morphological sieve is proposed.The method adopts color fuzzy model to define extrema and selects more rational regional merging way to produce better results.It can deal with the maxima or the minima areas respectively and the approach is simple and agile in design.The color fuzzy model and the steps of the algorithm are discussed.The evaluation of the performance shows the new method can produce the best synthetical performance.

Optimal tracking control for linear time-delay large-scale systems with persistent disturbances

An optimal tracking control （OTC） problem for linear time-delay large-scale systems affected by external persistent disturbances is investigated. Based on the internal model principle, a disturbance compensator is constructed. The system with persistent disturbances is transformed into an augmented system without persistent disturbances. The original OTC problem of linear time-delay system is transformed into a sequence of linear two- point boundary value （TPBV） problems by introducing a sensitivity parameter and expanding Maclaurin series around it. By solving an OTC law of the augmented system, the OTC law of the original system is obtained. A numerical simulation is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Optimal deterministic disturbances rejection for singularly perturbed linear systems

Optimal deterministic disturbances rejection control problem for singularly perturbed linear systems is considered. By using the slow-fast decomposition theory of singular perturbation, the existent and unique conditions of the feedforward and feedback composite control （FFCC） laws for both infinite-time and finite-time are proposed, and the design approaches are given. A disturbance observer is introduced to make the FFCC laws realizable physically. Simulation results indicate that the FFCC laws are robust with respect to external disturbances.
