Time series prediction has been successfully used in several application areas, such as meteoro-logical forecasting, market prediction, network traffic forecasting, etc. , and a number of techniques have been developed for modeling and predicting time series. In the traditional exponential smoothing method, a fixed weight is assigned to data history, and the trend changes of time series are ignored. In this paper, an uncertainty reasoning method, based on cloud model, is employed in time series prediction, which uses cloud logic controller to adjust the smoothing coefficient of the simple exponential smoothing method dynamically to fit the current trend of the time series. The validity of this solution was proved by experiments on various data sets. 展开更多

The normal distribution is very popular in the nature and our society. The idea of membership functions is the foundation of the fuzzy sets theory. While the fuzzy theory is widely used, the completely certain membership function that has no any fuzziness at all has been the bottleneck of the applications of this theory. Cloud models are the effective tools in transforming between qualitative concepts and their quantitative expressions. It can represent the fuzziness and randomness and their relations of uncertain concepts. Also cloud models can show the concept granularity in multi-scale spaces by the digital characteristic Entropy (En). The normal cloud model not only broadens the form conditions of the normal distribution but also makes the normal membership function be the expectation of the random membership degree. In this paper, the universality of the normal cloud model is proved, which is more superior and easier, and can fit the fuzziness and gentleness of human cognitive processing. It would be more applicable and universal in the representation of uncertain notions. 展开更多

In this paper,an approach to improving consistency of judgement matrix in the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is presented,which utilizes the eigenvector to revise a pair of entries of judgement matrix each time.By using this method,any judgement matrix with a large C.R.can be modified to a matrix which can both tally with the consistency requirement and reserve the most information that the original matrix contains.An algorithm to derive a judgement matrix with acceptable consistency (i.e.,C.R.<0.1) and two criteria of evaluating modificatory effectiveness are also given. 展开更多

In the light of the increasingly serious I/O bottleneck problem, the paper puts forward a method named RAID-M (RAID Matrix) to build high performance mass storage from cheap PC components based on the idea of multi-channel I/O and parallel access. Theoretical analyses prove that different RAID-M configurations vary their performance, space utilization and reliability, meeting various application goals. Experiments show that both the sequential read performance and sequential write performance of a RAID-M prototype machine have broken through the limitation of 32 bit/33 MHz PCI bus. 展开更多

Yager and Filev further presented the Induced Ordered Weighted Averaging (IOWA) operator. In this paper, we propose a Generalized Induced Ordered Weighted Geometric (GIOWG) operator and establish a simple objective-programming model to learn the associated weighting vector from observational data. Each object processed by the GIOWG operator consists of three components, where the first component represents the importance degree or character of the second component, and the second component is used to induce an ordering, through the first component, over the third components which are then aggregated. The desirable properties, such as commutativity, idempotency and monotonicity, etc., associated wlth the GIOWG operator are studied in detail, and some numerical examples are given to show the practicality and effectiveness of the developed operator. 展开更多
