For example, a system including salt- H20-CO2 is a common system in CO2 geological storage. During carbonate matrix acidizing, this mixture also appears as the spent acid. Hence, study of the behaviour of this system and the solubility of CO2 in CaCl2 brine in different thermodynamic conditions is critical. In this study, CO2 solubility in 0, 1.90 and 4.80 mol/L CaCl2 solutions at 328.15 to 375.15 K and 68.9 to 206.8 bar were measured. These values are normal for oil reservoirs. A popular thermodynamic model is available in the literature for estimating the CO2 solubility in pure water and NaC1 solutions. In this paper, the available model was modified by experimental work to be applicable for CaCl2 as well. Based on the measured data, the component interaction parameters in the base model were adjusted for a CaCl2-H2O-CO2 system. The developed model could predict CO2 solubility in different conditions with remarkable accuracy, particularly for high concentration solutions and at high pressures. This improvement is up to 65% better than in the base model. This model can be used in Darcy scale models for predicting wormhole propagation during carbonate matrix acidizing.展开更多

A series of waterflooding experiments were carried out in a Hele-Shaw cell at ambient temperature during which areal sweep efficiency was estimated and techniques to ease the fingering problem were examined. The onset and propagation of viscous fingers were monitored as a function of both injection rate and injection/production positions. Image processing techniques were utilized to quantitatively investigate the propagation of fingers. The experimental results show that, under specific conditions, increasing the number of finger branches could improve the areal sweep efficiency, whereas growth of a single narrow finger has a negative impact on oil displacement efficiency. According to the obtained results, increasing the injection rate improves the areal sweep efficiency up to a critical rate at which viscous fingers start to grow. The impact of heterogeneity of the medium on distributing the viscous fingers was also investigated by introducing two different arrangements of fractures in the model. The results show that fractures perpendicular to the direction of flow would distribute the displacing water more uniformly, while fractures in the direction of flow would amplify the unfavorable sweep efficiency.展开更多

The characteristics and displacement mechanisms of the system were investigated via core flow tests and visual simulation experiments. The SHC flooding system composed of DPG particles and surfactants was suitable for the reservoirs with the temperature of 80-110 °C and the salinity of 1×10~4-10×10~4 mg/L. The system presented good characteristics: low viscosity, weak negatively charged, temperature and salinity resistance, particles aggregation capacity, wettability alteration on oil wet surface, wettability weaken on water wet surface, and interfacial tension(IFT) still less than 1×10^(-1) mN/m after aging at high temperature. The SHC flooding system achieved the micro-profile control by entering formations deeply and the better performance was found in the formation with the higher permeability difference existing between the layers, which suggested that the flooding system was superior to the surfactants, DPG particles, and polymer/surfactant compound flooding systems. The system could effectively enhance the micro-profile control in porous media through four behaviors, including direct plugging, bridging, adsorption, and retention. Moreover, the surfactant in the system magnified the deep migration capability and oil displacement capacity of the SHC flooding system, and the impact was strengthened through the mechanisms of improved displacement capacity, synergistic emulsification, enhanced wettability alteration ability and coalescence of oil belts. The synergistic effect of the two components of SHC flooding system improved oil displacement efficiency and subsequently enhanced oil recovery.展开更多

Multi Point Statistic (MPS) algorithms can be used to model these high order relations from a visually and statistically explicit model, a training image. FILTERSIM as a pattern based MPS method attracts much attention. It decreases the complexity of computation, accelerates search process and increases CPU per-formance compare to other MPS methods by transferring training image patterns to a lower dimensional space. 文摘Wax deposition in oil-water stratified flow is commonly encountered onshore and offshore oil production pipe systems, and typically reduces transportation capacity of oil.The accurate predicted model of wax deposition has becomes an indispensable approach to design effective remediation strategies. However,a reliable mechanistic model for wax deposition prediction in oil-water two-phase stratified pipe flow is lacking to validate the deposition process. In this work,a three-dimensional(axial,radial,and angular)robust wax deposit model for oil-water stratified circular pipe flow was developed. The model of formation of a gel deposit based on the first principles of rheology was developed, associated with the results obtained from hydrodynamics and heat/mass transfer simulations. The predictions for wax deposition are found to compare satisfactorily with experimental data with two different oils for single phase and four different water cuts for oil-water stratified pipe flow.It can be seen from the wax gelation mechanism that an increase in water cut can help to reduce the wall/oil-deposit interface shear stress, thereby leading to an increase in the degree of gelation as well as the deposit rate.Furthermore,a local deposit analysis in the circumferential direction was conducted, for water cut 75%and total flow rate 5 m3/h,which provided insights to understand that the thickness on pipe wall was roughly uniformly distributed locates near the top of the pipe and the nearer the position gets close to two points, where the oil-water interface contacts the inner wall, the deposition thickness quickly dropped to 0.It was attributed to the fact that a roughly uniformly thickness far away from the oil-water interface contact the inner wall resulted in the slowly changes temperature along the circumferential pipe wall wetted by oil.
文摘India is currently producing crude oil from matured fields because of insufficient discoveries of new fields. Therefore,in order to control the energy crisis in India, enhanced oil recovery(EOR)techniques are required to reduce the import of crude from the OPEC(Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries). This review mentions chemical EOR techniques(polymers, surfactants, alkali, nanoparticles, and combined alkali-surfactant-polymer flooding)and operations in India.Chemical EOR methods are one of the most efficient methods for oil displacement. The efficiency is enhanced by interfacial tension(IFT)reduction using surfactants and alkali, and mobility control of injected water is done by adding a polymer to increase the volumetric sweep efficiency. This paper also reviews the current trend of chemical EOR,prospects of chemical EOR in Indian oilfields, the development of chemical EOR in India with their challenges raising with economics, and screening criteria for chemical EOR implementation on the field scale.Furthermore, the review gives a brief idea about chemical EOR implementation in Indian oilfields in future prospects to increase the additional oil recovery from existing depleted fields to reduce the import of crude oil.The outcome of this review depicts all chemical EOR operations and recovery rates both at the laboratory scale and field scale around the country. The additional recovery rates are compared from various chemical EOR methods like conventional chemical flooding methods and conventional chemicals combined with nanoparticles on a laboratory scale. The development of chemical EOR in the past few decades and the EOR policy given by the government of India has been mentioned in this review. The analysis provides an idea about enhanced recovery screening and implementation of chemical EOR methods in existing fields will significantly reduce the energy crisis in India.

文摘Underground energy storage is an important function of all energy supply systems, and especially concerning the seemingly eternal imbalance between production and demand.Salt rock underground energy storage, for one,is widely applied in both traditional and renewable energy fields;and this particular technique can be used to store natural gas, hydrogen, and compressed air. However, resource diversification and structural complexity make the supply system increasingly uncertain with the passing years, leading to great challenges for energy storage facilities in the present, and perhaps going into the future as well.Hence,it is necessary to research the operation stability of underground energy storage further. In this paper,a stability evaluation index system of Underground Gas Storage(UGS)is constructed with natural gas as the main medium, according to FLAC 3D cavity creep simulation software, along with fuzzy membership function to comprehensively determine the impact factor scoring model;the subjective weight is calculated based on the improved Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP),the objective weight is calculated by the Entropy Weight Method(EWM),the combined constant weight is obtained by combining the variance maximization theory, and introducing the variable weight theory to obtain a more accurate combined variable weight. Finally, with this all being considered and accounted for,and with the four different conditions designed for UGS deployment case analysis and verification taken into consideration, the combined variable weight evaluation achieved excellent results;compared with the traditional constant weight method,in fact, the new evaluation results are more rigorous and objective.
文摘The application of fluid diversion during hydraulic fracturing is an evolving technology and has become popular amongst E&P operators over the past few years. The primary objective of the fluid diversion is to improve hydraulic fracturing treatment by increasing stimulated reservoir volume and improving hydrocarbon recovery. This is possible by achieving any of the following objectives:creating uniform distribution of treatment slurry within the target zone;treating unstimulated and under-stimulated zones;or by increasing fracture density by creating a complex fracture network. The fluid diversion application is also helpful in decreasing the number of stages(by increasing stage length)for multi-stage plug-n-perf(PnP)fracturing treatment. It is also applied to prevent fracture-driven interactions between adjacent wells, which is currently a major issue, especially in shale. In addition, for successful refracturing treatment, the diverter application is essential for isolating the existing fractures and redirecting the treatment slurry to the desired unstimulated zones. The diversion methods can be broadly categorized into the mechanical and chemical diversion.Several established mechanical diversion techniques are frac plugs, expandable casing patches, expandable liners, swellable packers, straddle packer assembly, sand plugs, frac sleeves, perforation ball sealers, and limited entry technique. The different chemical diversion techniques are particulates, fibers, gels, surfactants, perforation pods, and composite diverting. This paper describes the current status of established mechanical and chemical diverter technologies and examines their comparative advantages and challenges.Various techniques are suitable for diverter application, but the technique is selected based on the desired objective and conditions of the wellbore and reservoir. The general guidelines for selecting diversion techniques and operational considerations are also provided in the paper. The diagnosis of diversion treatment plays an essential role in diversion technique selection and optimization of selection parameters for the subsequent treatments. Therefore, the application of conventional surface pressure monitoring techniques and advanced diagnostic tools to evaluate diversion effectiveness are briefly described.Presently no standard laboratory testing method is established for the performance evaluation of diverting agents. Therefore, researchers have implemented various laboratory methods, which are briefly summarized in the paper.Significant insight into the diversion technology and guidelines for its selection and successful implementation is provided to help engineers to increase the effectiveness of hydraulic fracturing treatments. The limitations of individual diversion techniques are clarified, which provide the future scope of research for improvement in various diversion technologies.

文摘The transmission medium of natural gas gathering and transportation pipelines usually contains cor-rosive gases, which will cause serious corrosion on the inner wall of the pipelines when they coexist with water. Therefore,it is necessary to add corrosion inhibitor to form a protective film to protect the pipeline. The distribution of corrosion inhibitors in a gathering and transportation pipeline in Moxi gas field was studied by combining experiment and simulation. The Pearson function was used to calculate the experimental and simulation results, and the correlation was more than 80%,indicating a high degree of agreement. The simulation results show that:①The larger the pipe angle, filling speed and gas flow rate, the smaller the particle size, the better the distribution of corrosion inhibitor particles in the pipe. The filling amount will affect the concentration, but the distribution trend is unchanged;②A method to determine the filling mode based on the loss was proposed, and for this pipeline, the loss of corrosion inhibitor was determined to be 5.31×10^(-3) kg/s,and the flling amount was recommended to be adjusted to 2o L/h,which has certain guiding significance for the actual flling strategy of pipeline corrosion inhibitor.
文摘In order to evaluate the petrophysical properties, characterize the structural framework and determine the hydrocarbon in place of potential reservoirs in the Baris Field, onshore Niger Delta Basin,Nigeria,3D seismic and well log data from the field were collected and interpreted using Geographix and Petrel software. Two reservoir zones B2 and B5 were identified having porosity ranging from 21%to 22%,permeability from 235 to 523 mD and water saturation from 16%to 28%.Petrophysical parameters show that the two zones are good reservoirs and highly petroliferous.Seismic interpretation revealed the presence of six listric faults, two major faults(F1 and F2 trending in the northwestesoutheast direction)and four minor faults(F3,F4,F5 and F6).Faults 3,4 and 5 trend in the same direction as the major faults, while fault 6 trends in the northeastesouthwest direction. Two major horizons were identified, and they correspond to the two reservoir tops(B2_top and B5_top).Roll-over anticlinal structures between the two major listric faults were identified. The depositional environment of the Reservoirs B2 and B5 have been deciphered to be of a barrier bar or crevasse play and the trapping mechanism in the Baris Field is a four-way structural closure.STOOIP and GIIP for the two zones have been estimated with the zone B5 more prolific with a STOOIP and GIIP of 7.98MMSTB and 12.77MMMSCF respectively.

文摘Most fractured carbonate oil reservoirs have oil-wet rocks. Therefore, the process of imbibing water from the fractures into the matrix is usually poor or basically does not exist due to negative capillary pressure. To achieve appropriate ultimate oil recovery in these reservoirs,a water-based enhanced oil recovery method must be capable of altering the wettability of matrix blocks.Previous studies showed that carbonated water can alter wettability of carbonate oil-wet rocks toward less oil-wet or neutral wettability conditions, but the degree of modification is not high enough to allow water to imbibe spontaneously into the matrix blocks at an effective rate.In this study,we manipulated carbonated brine chemistry to enhance its wettability alteration features and hence to improve water imbibition rate and ultimate oil recovery upon spontaneous imbibition in dolomite rocks.First, the contact angle and interfacial tension(IFT)of brine/crude oil systems were measured for several synthetic brine samples with different compositions.Thereafter, two solutions with a significant difference in WAI(wettability alteration index)but approximately equal brine/oil IFT were chosen for spontaneous imbibition experiments. In the next step, spontaneous imbibition experiments at ambient and high pressures were conducted to evaluate the ability of carbonated smart water in enhancing the spontaneous imbibition rate and ultimate oil recovery in dolomite rocks.Experimental results showed that an appropriate adjustment of the imbibition brine(i.e.,carbonated smart water)chemistry improves imbibition rate of carbonated water in oil-wet dolomite rocks as well as the ultimate oil recovery.
文摘Study of the thermodynamic behaviour of CaCl2-H2O-CO2 systems is important in different scientific areas in the chemical and petroleum engineering fields. This model can be used in Darcy scale models for predicting wormhole propagation during carbonate matrix acidizing.

文摘Viscous fingering is one of the main challenges that could reduce areal sweep efficiency during waterflooding in oil reservoirs. The results show that fractures perpendicular to the direction of flow would distribute the displacing water more uniformly, while fractures in the direction of flow would amplify the unfavorable sweep efficiency.

文摘Considering high temperature and high salinity in the reservoirs, a dispersed particle gel soft heterogeneous compound(SHC) flooding system was prepared to improve the micro-profile control and displacement efficiency. The synergistic effect of the two components of SHC flooding system improved oil displacement efficiency and subsequently enhanced oil recovery.

文摘Green and low cost CO_(2) and CaO were used to stimulate amine emulsions to reveal the responsive behavior of amine emulsions. On this basis,oil-based drilling fluids responsive to CO_(2) and CaO were formulated and their properties were evaluated. The results showed that the amine emulsions inversed from water-in-oil state to oil-in-water state readily and their rheological behavior underwent transitions of decreasing, rising again and decreasing again via induction by CO_(2).These CO_(2) responsive behaviors could be reversed by CaO.Oil-based drilling fluids prepared based on the amine emulsions with oil-water volume ratios of 50:50 to 70:30,densities of 1.4-2.0 g/cm^(3) had good rheological and filtration properties at 160℃;and be readily cleaned up using CO_(2) bubbling. The useless solid phase with low density could be removed efficiently via reducing the viscosity of emulsion by CO_(2) and the residual liquid phase could be restored to the original state by CaO and reused to prepare drilling fluid. The mechanisms analysis indicated that CO_(2)/CaO induced the reversible conversion between amine emulsifiers and their salts, which enabled the reversible regulation of both the hydrophilic-lipophilic balance of amine emulsifiers and the emulsion particles’size and finally caused the controllable-reversion of the form and rheology of amine emulsion.
文摘Facies and fracture network modeling need robust, realistic and multi scale methods that can extract and reproduce complex relations in geological structures. The results quality is not however as satisfactory. This work presents an improved version of FILTERSIM in which pattern extraction, persisting and pasting steps are modified to enhance visual quality and structures continuity in the realiza-tions. Examples shown in this paper give visual appealing results for the reconstruction of stationary complex struc-tures.
