In this sense, a full factorial design approach was developed to model the corrosion behavior of patinated tin bronze alloy in sulfate electrolyte. Three experimental factors (the immersion time in the chloride electrolyte, the potential limit for the anodic sweep Elim, and the potential scan rate) were chosen to identify the significant factor on the patina growth process at the bronze substrate. The experimental responses were the kinetic parameters extracted from the electro-chemical spectra (EIS) for eight different experiments. An equivalent electrical circuit containing an electrolyte resistance (Re), a double layer capacitance (CPEdl), a charge transfer resistance (Rt) and Gerischer element (G), was developed to model the patinated bronze corrosion process. The electro-chemical spectra (EIS) show that the corrosion process of the patinated bronze alloy occurred from a chemical reaction is followed by an electrochemical one. Analysis of the experimental responses showed that while the scan rate is the most influent factor for the corrosion potential (Ecorr), the electrolyte resistance (Re), and the double layer capacitance CPEdl variation, the potential limit is the significant factor for charge transfer resistance Rt, reciprocal of the admittance parameter Y0 and the effective transfer rate of the chemical reaction k variation.展开更多

The text is subversive on many levels, namely on the level of form. In order to show some aspects of the author's challenge of the conventional norms and methods of literary writing, a comparison between the writer's original diary of the journey to the industrial North of England, the main site of the coal mines, and the present book could be of great import. This reveals the author's genuine intellectual ability to manipulate and rearrange the events and scenes of the story on the discourse level. The author's manipulation and rearrangement of the story (the journey), events and scenes, clearly reveals his potential literary creativity and imagination. Orwell has deployed many strategies to fulfil this purpose. Each strategy is actually a contribution to the author's overall argument and at the same time it constitutes a further aspect of subversion. The first aspect of subversion lies on the level of form itself. The form of the book is effectively very challenging. Contrary to the conventional view of the fictional novel, the study of Orwell's text based on Grrard Genette's model reveals his challenge of the basic novelistic parameters. The novelistic ingredients such as setting, characterisation, and plot development have been treated in a subverting way. Though not totally discarded, they have been manipulated for the purpose of the author's general argument, which is Socialism. For instance, characters in the novel are treated as types, that is, representatives of their class. Besides, the order of scenes and events has been rearranged for the purpose of foregrounding representative scenes like the description of the Brookers' lodging-house. The author's treatment of the material of the text is primarily based on his personal experience as an outside observer during his journey to the North. Therefore, the exploration of the novel from a structuralist perspective based on Genette's model does not merely aim at the pure application of some literary and critical approaches to Orwell's text. This may be misleading since the investigation may fall in superficiality and simplicity. But the strategy deployed is actually a further contribution to the author's general argument and a manifestation of the novel's status as a creative and subversive text.展开更多

It is advised to make an in-depth study on the characteristics of the aerogenerator and the implantation site before any installation of a wind farm for choosing well the system best adapted to the energy needs. The objective of this study is to sensitize the users of the wind energy on the various problems involved in the aerogenerator installation on any site and to provide a decision-making aid to the judicious choice of the wind system best adapted. The idea is to estimate, for a selected implantation site, the energy production and the operating time of several wind systems. We can thus select the aerogenerator best adapted by making a compromise between a maximum recovery of energy and a high time of production. The influence height of the aerogenerator on energy profitability is also studied. We apply this step to the twenty six Tunisian synoptic sites by implantation scenarios of seven wind systems of various nominal speeds in function of the height.展开更多

Its structure provided a new interesting example of infinite inorganic layers of [CdCl3(H2O)]n n- centered by (-101) planes. The [CdCl5(H2O)]- anions were interconnected by O-H...Cl hydrogen bonds. Acidic protons of the chloride group were transferred to the organic molecule, giving the singly-protonated cations. The ability of ions to form a spontaneous three-dimensional structure through O-H…Cl and N-H…Cl hydrogen bonds was fully utilized. These hydrogen bonds induced notable vibrational effects. IR and Raman spectra were reported and discussed on the basis of group theoretical analysis and on quantum chemical density theory(DFT) calculation. The molecular HOMO-LUMO compositions and their respective energy gaps were also drawn to explain the activity of our compound. The role of the intermolecular interaction in this crystal was analyzed. The optical study was also investigated by UV-Vis absorption spectrum. Thermal analysis reveals the hydrous character of the compound. Cyclic voltammetry was studied to evaluate the spectral and structural changes accompanying electron transfer.展开更多

Compressive behavior of bovine spongious bone was studied using mechanical testing in order to evaluate the elastic-plastic properties in different regions of the proximal tibia. Friction tests were carried out in the aim to evaluate the friction behavior of the contact between bovine spongious bone and stainless steel. A cylindrical stainless steel post inserted in a pre-drilled bovine tibia with an initial interference fit was taken as an in vitro model to assess the contribution of post fixation to the initial stability of the Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) tibial component. Pull-out experiments were carried out for different initial interference fits. Finite Element Models (FEM) using local elastic-plastic properties of the bovine bone were developed for the analysis of the experimental ultimate pull-out force results. At the post/bone interface, Coulomb friction was considered in the FEM calculations with pressure-dependent friction coefficient. It was found that the FEM results of the ultimate force are in good agreement with the experimental results. The analysis of the FEM interfacial stresses indicates that the micro-slip initiation depends on the local bone properties.展开更多

A thermodynamic study showed that the stability of these compounds de-creased as the substitution rate increased. The present work was an attempt to gain more information about the structural changes in-duced by the substitution, in order to understand the observed stability decrease. The samples were successfully synthesized as a sin-gle-phase apatite by a solid-state reaction between 1200 and 1400 °C. The structural refinement indicated that the La3+ions preferen-tially occupied the 6(h) sites. A progressive shift of F-along the c-axis outside its ideal position occurred as a result of the substitution increase. This might be the cause of the observed stability decrease, especially as the energies of the La-O, La-F and Si-O bonds are higher than those of Ca-O, Ca-F and P-O. The distribution of La3+ between the two non-equivalent sites was confirmed by the charge distribution method.展开更多
