Uncovering the Challenges Faced by Primary School Science Teachers in Implementing Experimental Teaching:A Data Analysis Based on a Questionnaire Survey Conducted in Western China

Primary school science is a discipline grounded in experiments,and experimental teaching holds paramount significance in primary school science education in China.Nevertheless,the implementation problems of experimental teaching are frequently disregarded.This research endeavors to disclose the concrete challenges encountered by primary school science teachers in the western region of China during the implementation of experimental teaching,analyze their implications,and put forward corresponding mitigatory measures.Based on a questionnaire survey regarding the current state of primary school science experimental teaching in 21 areas of western China,it is unveiled that primary school science teachers in the western region of China confront deficiencies in scientific professional attainment,the necessity to enhance the attitude towards experimental teaching,and a partial shortage of experimental teaching resources.These hardships result in the deterioration of the quality of experimental teaching,the attenuation of students’learning interests,and the exacerbation of teachers’job burnout.Hence,measures should be initiated in aspects such as teacher training,resource development,and enhanced emphasis to assist primary school science teachers in the western region of China in implementing experimental teaching more effectively and elevating the quality of primary school science experimental teaching. 展开更多

Improving the professional happiness of science teachers in primary schools has become an important topic in the construction of teachers’ team in the new period. At present, the intensity of primary school science teachers’ own work is high, their non-own work is increasing, their physical and mental health is difficult to guarantee, and their professional happiness is reduced. The main causes of the problems are poor individual psychological quality, poor school management style and improper social cognitive evaluation. The aim of this study is to analyze the difficulties of reading and writing experienced by primary school pupils when writing a script for a theatrical performance called "digestion". Our main research questions are: how does a theatrical performance help to reconsider the scripts and to build a model of the digestive system? The pupils were encouraged to stage a theatrical performance for the whole school, explaining the digestion of a sandwich, a glass of water, an apple and a piece of chewing gum. The play helped to develop not only knowledge but also language. Having to produce a text for two different audiences, teachers and other learners led the students to debate between using "academic" vocabulary or more everyday vocabulary. Overall we found that they were more concerned with writing "academic" scripts, influenced by the texts that they consulted, than with writing a play accessible to all audiences. 展开更多

Objective:Only a few studies have investigated the development trends in spatial working memory and attention among a large sample of primary school students over a wide range of ages,while the efficiency of learning and memory processes is fundamental to academic performance,particularly for children,who are in a key developmental stage when their life opportunities can be altered.We aimed to explore how the spatial working memory and attention of primary school children are affected by grade,academic performance,and sex.Methods:In this cross-sectional observational study,students(144 boys,139 girls,6–13 years old)were recruited from Experimental Primary School Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University in Shanghai,China in 2018.The study protocol was reviewed and approved by the Bio-Ethics Board of the Bio-X Institutes,Shanghai Jiao Tong University.Based on a simple Spatial Working Memory and Attention Test on Paired Symbols test,we evaluate 283 participants’working memory and attention ability.Results:Attention and working memory performance were enhanced as a positive function of grade in primary school children,and students who showed better academic achievement also performed better on the working memory task.However,attention and working memory performance were not affected by sex.Conclusion:Attention and working memory performance of primary school students develop with grade and corresponds to Better academic performance.Attention and working memory ability do not differ significantly between boys and girls. 展开更多

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between mental health literacy(MHL)and workplace well-being(WWB)of Chinese grassroots civil servants,with regulatory emotional self-efficacy(RESE)and resilience as mediating variables.A questionnaire survey was conducted among Chinese grassroots civil servants,with a valid sample size of 2673 after excluding missing values and conducting relevant data processing.The PROCESS was used to examine the relationship between MHL,RESE,resilience,and WWB.The study found that MHL among grassroots civil servants was positively and significantly correlated with WWB(r=0.73,p<0.01).RESE partially mediated the relationship between MHL and WWB(β=0.25,95%CI[0.22,0.28]).Resilience partially mediated the relationship between MHL and WWB(β=0.22,95%CI[0.19,0.26]).MHL had a positive effect on WWB through the chain mediating effect of RESE and resilience(β=0.05,95%CI[0.03,0.07]).There is a close relationship between MHL and WWB,where Chinese grassroots civil servants with higher levels of MHL can develop stronger RESE and resilience,leading to higher WWB.The results of this study remind organizational institutions of Chinese grassroots civil servants that enhancing MHL,RESE,and resilience is an important pathway to promoting their WWB. 展开更多

This text is trying to discuss an approximation to the concept of human emancipation,as part of our well-being,in terms of Education and Knowledge.Without abandoning our metaphysical perception of wholeness,as an extension of the continuity principle which connects our conscious and unconscious world,emancipation is considered as a personal struggle against all oppressions.Some of these are grounded in our inner world.In accordance with the Enlightenment request,reasoning and knowledge can help us to structure new forms of acceptances which are shaping our own emancipatory meaning.Under the impact of social influence and personal interpretation,the perceived knowledge is considered as a mental tool containing an upgraded valid information.Taking under consideration that this validity is not able to overcome the metaphysical origins of human thought,it is suggested that when this mental tool is functioning in a self-transformative,self-constructed,and flexible form,human intelligence is structuring a compatible information management mechanism,which can enable us to formulate our personal acceptances,bridge our empirical and hyper-empirical inner world,and enlighten our request for self-criticism,self-determination,and above all emancipation. 展开更多
