Priorities Outlined for Maintaining China's Sustainable Economic Growth

The next 15 years will continue to witness the rapid economic rise of China,with an emphasis on both quality and speed.In the first half of the 21st century,rural areas remain to be the"strategic citadel"of expanding domestic demand and economic growth.In the face of energy and resource challenges,China plans to lay the groundwork of a resource-efficient society in 30 years.Other priorities include:building a favourable environment for international exchange,persisting in the path of"bringing-in,going global"and advancing international competition and cooperation based on mutual benefit and win-win situations.Moreover,to pursue independent innovation,develop private-run businesses,and engage the initiative of both local government and enterprises to enhance China’s economic vibrancy and sustainable growth.

Building a Harmonious World and Developing Global Human Rights

Between September 2005 and April 2006, China＇s national leaders made four significant proposals to the international community on bulldlng a harmonious world,t This shows that China, as a responsible country, is bringing to the intemational community its own concepts and ideas on how to cope with intemational conflicts. This action is a great effort and endeavor on China＇s part in resolving current intemational conflicts.

Prof. Zhou Nanjing and the Study of Overseas Chinese History

Professor Zhou Nanjing(周南京)passed away four years ago,yet his voice is still in my ears,his smile in my eyes and his spirit in my heart.In regard to the study of overseas Chinese history in China,Zhou Nanjing is the name to be always remembered.A scholar who dares to tell the truth and perfectly combines academic ideas with academic conscience,Zhou is a typical Chinese intellectual with a lofty virtue worthy of respect among the historians of overseas Chinese studies.As a world-known expert in the field,he is a patriotic overseas Chinese with deep feelings for his motherland.He left us on May 17,2016 at the age of 83.Today,his works and views are still guiding the overseas Chinese studies in China.
