Quantum Monte Carlo data are often afflicted with distributions that resemble lognormal probability distributions and consequently their statistical analysis cannot be based on simple Gaussian assumptions.To this extent a method is introduced to estimate these distributions and thus give better estimates to errors associated with them.This method entails reconstructing the probability distribution of a set of data,with given mean and variance,that has been assumed to be lognormal prior to undergoing a blocking or renormalization transformation.In doing so,we perform a numerical evaluation of the renormalized sum of lognormal random variables.This technique is applied to a simple quantum model utilizing the single-thread Monte Carlo algorithm to estimate the ground state energy or dominant eigenvalue of a Hamiltonian matrix. 展开更多

Uncapped double stacked In0.5Ga0.5As quantum dots(QDs) with different spacer layer thicknesses were grown using metal-organic chemical vapour deposition(MOCVD).The precursors used for the growth of the GaAs layer and In0.5Ga0.5As QDs were trimethylgallium(TMGa),trimethylindium(TMIn),and arsine(AsH3).The morphology and optical properties of the self-assembled In0.5Ga0.5As QDs were investigated and characterized using atomic force microscopy(AFM) and photoluminescence(PL).The AFM images revealed that the sizes of the dots on the topmost were not uniformly distributed.The average size of the dots fluctuated as the GaAs spacer layer thickness increased.A room temperature PL measurement was used to establish the quality and quantity of the stacked QDs.The PL peak position remained at 1148 nm for all samples of QDs;however,the PL intensity increased as spacer layer thickness increased.The structure of the spacer layer in the stacked QD affected the morphology of the topmost surface of the QDs.The PL measurement coherently reflected the AFM characterization,in which the strong PL spectra were caused by the uniformity and high density of the QDs.The surface morphology,structure,and optical properties of the stacked QDs are attributed to seed-layer(first layer) formation of dots and spacer layer structures. 展开更多

Herein,we propose a scheme for the realization of two-dimensional atomic localization in aλ-type three-level atomic medium such that the atom interacts with the two orthogonal standing-wave fields and a probe field.Because of the spatially dependent atom-field interaction,the information about the position of the atom can be obtained by monitoring the probe transmission spectra of the weak probe field for the first time.A single and double sharp localized peaks are observed in the one-wavelength domain.We have theoretically archived high-resolution and high-precision atomic localization within a region smaller thanλ/25×λ/25.The results may have potential applications in the field of nano-lithography and advance laser cooling technology. 展开更多

We have theoretically investigated two-dimensional atom localization using the absorption spectra of birefringence beams of light in a single wavelength domain.The atom localization is controlled and modified through tunneling effect in a conductive chiral atomic medium with absorption spectra of birefringent beams.The significant localization peaks are investigated in the left and right circularly polarized beam.Single and double localized peaks are observed in different quadrants with minimum uncertainty and significant probability.The localized probability is modified by controlling birefringence and tunneling conditions.These results may be useful for the capability of optical microscopy and atom imaging. 展开更多
