Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy is an excellent way for the diagnosis of high digestive pathology. We report the results of 1022 upper gastrointestinal endoscopy performed at Bobo-Dioulasso CHU-SS, in western Burkina Faso (West Africa). The aim of this study was to document the indications and lesions found in high endoscopy at the CHUSS. Patients and Methods: It was a cross-sectional study, prospective to describe the results of gastroscopy performed from 1st January 2015 to 30th June 2016 at the digestive endoscopy unit CHU-Souro Sanou Bobo-Dioulasso. Results: In the study period, 1022 upper gastrointestinal endoscopies were performed. The main indications were: The epigastric pain (48.6%), portal hypertension (10.7%) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (9.9%). The pathologies observed were dominated by gastropathies (48.11%), peptic ulcer (27%) and oesophageal varices (9.68%). Epigastralgias were the main circumstance for the discovery of: 52.3% of esophagitis, 49.17% of gastropathies and 46.12% of peptic ulcers. Histopathologically, the results of the 236 biopsies were dominated by gastritis (88.56%), stomach cancers (7.63%) and esophagus (3.81%). Conclusion: The main indication of the UGIE at the CHU-Souro Sanou in Bobo-Dioulasso was epigastralgia. The pathologies observed were dominated by gastropathy, esophagitis and PUD. 展开更多

Introduction: The metabolic syndrome according to the IDF (International Diabetes Federation) is at the origin of the double global epidemic of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. This work aims to study the metabolic syndrome in the internal medicine department of CHU Point G. Methodology: This was a descriptive study of patients who presented a metabolic syndrome according to the definition of the IDF definition, hospitalized in the internal medicine department of the CHU du point G for the period from January 1 2010 to December 31, 2019. Results: During the study period, 4189 patients were hospitalized, including 60 with metabolic syndrome, representing a hospital frequency of 1.43%. The sex ratio was 0.36. The age group of 50 and 60 years accounted for 28.3%. Forty-six point six percent (46.6%) of our patients were diabetic, 45% obese, 60% hypertensive, 70% sedentary and 10% smokers. Our patients had in 53.3% of cases a blood pressure figure ≥ 130/85 mmHg, abdominal obesity in 100%, hypertriglyceridemia in 33.3%, HDL-C less than 0.40 g/l in 62.5% of men and less than 0.50 g/l in 77.27% of men, blood sugar ≥ 1 g/l in 88.3%. Conclusion: The metabolic syndrome, in view of the entities that compose it, is a real cardiovascular risk factor and therefore a major public health issue. 展开更多

Introduction: Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) linked to HIV infection is accompanied by auto-immune phenomena. Autoimmune diseases can develop in people living with HIV, most in a context of good immunological control (vasculitis, anti-phospholipid syndrome). Since the advent of antiretroviral therapy, an increasing number of autoimmune connective tissue diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, and syndromes of Sj?gren and scleroderma have been reported. Purpose: To describe this association’s not very common scleroderma and HIV infection. Observation: We report the case of a 56-year-old lady admitted into the service for functional impotence that would have been evolving for a week. Prior to her hospitalization, she presented edemas of the lower limbs associated with anesthesia of the lower limbs for 5 months. The painting is accompanied by a productive cough and an intermittent fever. At the physical examination a weight loss (BMI = 13.74 Kg/m2), fever (38.7°C): Oral candidiasis, lower lip ulceration, perlicking, undernutrition folds, sclerodactyly and homogeneous hepatomegaly was noted. The diagnosis of immunosuppression to HIV Stage 3 with TB co-morbidity and positive hepatitis B Serology was retained while diffuse Scleroderma was selected from the ACR/EULAR criteria of 2012 with a score of 10 (sclerodactyly = 4 point;Raynaud’s phenomenon = 3 point and Ac Anti Scl 70 positive = 3 point). Conclusion: These associations of chronic pathology must be described to improve the future treatment of our patients. 展开更多

Background: Hemorrhoidal disease is most frequently encountered in proctology affection;it is defined by signs or symptoms attributed to hemorrhoids. Its pathogenesis is based on old theories and vascular mechanical which are nevertheless based on the current therapeutic approach. General Aim of the Study: To study haemorrhoids’ pathology in order to improve its management. Methodology: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted over a period of two (2) years from 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2013. Data were collected from outpatients records in hepato-gastroenterology and digestive surgery services at “Polyclinique Notre Dame de la Paix” in Ouagadougou (2294 files). Results: 140 cases of haemorrhoids were recorded during our study period. The frequency was 6.1% of consultations. Males predominated with 75.71% of patients (sex ratio = 3.12). The average age was 39.58 years. Civil servants were most affected by this disease (60%). Rectal bleeding was the most common reason of consultation (52.14%). The crown shape was predominated (59%). The frequency of external haemorrhoids was the highest (65.71%) and stage 4 (40.79%) was the most represented. Anal fissure was the proctologic pathology, the most associated to haemorrhoids (17.14%). Medical treatment concerned 89.28% of patients with 69.6% of favorable short-term evolution. No instrumental treatment was performed. Surgical treatment consisted of 10.71% of patients and the technique used was the Milligan-Morgan performed under spinal anesthesia. The postoperative complications were mainly represented by anal intense pain and acute urinary retention. The healing period of wounds was on average 6 weeks. Conclusion: The hemorrhoid has often underestimated in our regions. The instrumental treatment is nonexistent and should take an important place;it must be an indication before surgery. 展开更多
