Objective:To examine and compare the synchronization of different brain regions during the Chinese and English Stroop tasks.Methods.Ten native Chinese speakers with a moderate command of English participated in this study,and event-related potentials were recorded while participants performed the Stroop task.Then wavelet-based estimation of instantaneous EEG coherence was applied to investigate the synchronization of different brain regions during Stroop task.Results:A greater negativity for the in- congruent situation than congruent situation appeared from 350ms to 600ms post-stimulus onset over frontal,central,and parietal regions in Chinese Stroop task,while the negativity was absent in English Stroop task.However,not only in Chinese Stroop task but also in English Stroop task was it found signif- icantly higher EEG coherences for the incongruent situation than congruent situation over frontal,pari- etal,and frontoparietal regions before 400ms post stimulus onset atβ(13-30 Hz) frequency band.Conclu- sion:This finding indicated that wavelet-based coherence is more exquisite tool to analyze brain electro- physiological signals associated with complex cognitive task than ERP component,and that functional syn- chronization indexed by EEG coherence is enhanced at the earlier stage while processing the conflicting in- formation for the incongruent stimulus. 展开更多

The generalized regression neural network-one kind of RBF neural network, is chosen to construct the inverse-kinematics model for the shotcrete robot which has redundant degree-of-freedom. The inverse-kinematics model of the object is trained by the general learning method. In constructing model process, different partition methods is tried to divide the joint space and different diffusion coefficient value to train the neural network. The influence of the spread coefficient to the approach ability is also studied. The simulation method is adopted to test the performance of the neural network. Event-related potentials associated with Chinese and English color-word Stroop tasks in Chinese bilinguals

Objective:To investigate the neural electrophysiologieal activity underlying Chinese and Eng- lish Stroop tasks for Chinese English bilinguals.Methods:Event-related potentials(ERPs)were recorded in 14 Chinese bilinguals with a moderate command of English when they performed the Stroop task pre- sented in English words and Chinese characters,respectively.Results:In Chinese task version,it was found an increased positivity over bilateral front-polar regions on incongruent trials compared with congru- ent trials,followed by an increased negativity over fronto-central region and an increased positivity over occipital region.While in English task version,only the increased negativity was observed over fronto-cen- tral region,but with reduced amplitude and anterior distribution.Conclusion:This increased negativity was proposed as an index of the resolution processes of conflicting information in the incongruent situa- tion.The increased positivity over occipital region on Chinese incongruent trials may indicate visually rechecking effect for Chinese character. 展开更多
