INTRODUCTION Caudate nucleus (CN) contains a variety of neurotransmitters, e. g. acetylcholine (Ach), dopamine (DA), endorphins and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT). It proves that CN has played an important role in acupuncture analgesia. Carlsson (1959) found that the CN was the region of central nerves system (CNS) where DA concentration was the highest.
