The main focus of the study is to analyze the tower shadow effect on the aerodynamic performance of the wind turbine under different inlet flow conditions. Subsequently, the finite element model is established by considering fluid/structure interactions to study the structural stress, displacement, strain distributions and flow field information of the structure under the uniform wind speed. Finally, the fluid-structure interaction model is established by considering turbulent wind and the tower shadow effect. The variation rules of the dynamic response of the one-way and two-way fluid-structure interaction(FSI) models under different wind speeds are analyzed, and the numerical calculation results are compared with those of the centralized mass model. The results show that the tower shadow effect and structural deformation are the main factors affecting the aerodynamic load fluctuation of the wind turbine, which in turn affects the aerodynamic performance and structural stability of the blades. The structural dynamic response of the coupled model shows significant similarity, while the structural displacement response of the former exhibits less fluctuation compared with the conventional centralized mass model. The one-way fluid-structure interaction(FSI)model shows a higher frequency of stress-strain and displacement oscillations on the blade compared with the two-way FSI model.展开更多

A three-dimensional steady-state finite difference numerical groundwater flow model was used to assess the groundwater resource potential on a one-kilometre river stretch scale along the Motloutse River catchment in eastern Botswana. The model area is a single-layer unconfined aquifer system. A uniform grid was laid over this phreatic aquifer, and an overall size of 50 columns x 54 rows was developed. The model yielded calibrated K values of 145 m/day and 11 m/day for the riverbed and riverbank sediments, respectively, and calibrated recharge and evaporation of 172 mm/yr and 120 mm/yr, respectively. A sustainable groundwater yield of 120 m3/day with the potential to irrigate an area of 2.4 hectares was determined. The result also shows that the Motloutse alluvial aquifer yields a safe yield of 29,400 m3 for a kilometre of river stretch.展开更多

PET is an extensively used aromatic polyester, and poly-H, poly-G, and poly-S can be considered semi-aromatic poly (lactic acid) modifications. All these polyesters have been depolymerized at neutral pH and by acid- and base-catalyzed hydrolysis at two temperatures, i.e., 50˚C and 80˚C. Base-catalyzed depolymerization of virgin PET leads to an isolated yield of 38% after 48 hours of reaction at 80˚C. Contrary to these results for PET, almost all the monomers of the semi-aromatic polyesters poly-H, poly-G, and poly-S are recovered with isolated yields larger than 90% at the same temperature after 15 minutes in a facile manner. A shrinking particle model used to determine the global kinetics of the base-catalyzed depolymerization showed that the rate rises with increasing temperature. Using the shrinking particle model, the intrinsic reaction rate constants were determined. It has been demonstrated that the rate coefficients of the depolymerization of the semi-aromatic polyesters poly-H, poly-G, and poly-S are between 2 and 3 orders of magnitude higher than those for PET.展开更多

文摘Highway maintenance mileage reached 5.25 million kilometers in China by 2021.Ultra-thin overlay is one of the most commonly used maintenance technologies, which can significantly enhance the economic and environmental benefits of pavements. To promote the low-carbon development of ultrathin overlays, this paper mainly studied the mechanism and influencing factors of several ultra-thin overlay functions.Firstly, the skid resistance, noise reduction, rutting resistance, and crack resistance of ultrathin overlays were evaluated. The results indicated that the high-quality aggregates improved the skid and rutting resistance of ultra-thin overlay by 5%-20%.The optimized gradations and modified binders reduced noise of ultra-thin overlay by 0.4-6.0 dB.The high viscosity modified binders improved the rutting resistance of ultra-thin overlay by about 10%-130%.Basalt fiber improved the cracking resistance of ultra-thin overlay by more than 20%.Due to the thinner thickness and better road performance, the performance-based engineering cost of ultra-thin overlay was reduced by about 30%-40%compared with conventional overlays.Secondly, several environmentally friendly functions of ultra-thin overlay were investigated, including snow melting and deicing, exhaust gas purification and pavement cooling. The lower thickness of ultra-thin overlay was conducive to the diffusion of chloride-based materials to the pavement surface. Therefore, the snow melting effect of self-ice-melting was better. In addition, the ultra-thin overlay mixture containing photocatalytic materials could decompose 20%-50%of the exhaust gas.The colored ultra-thin overlay was able to reduce the temperature of the pavement by up to 8.1℃.The temperature difference between the upper and lower surfaces of the ultra-thin overlay containing thermal resistance materials could reach up to 12.8℃.In addition, numerous typical global engineering applications of functional ultra-thin overlay were summarized. This review can help better understand the functionality of ultra-thin overlays and promote the realization of future multi-functional and low-carbon road maintenance.

文摘Systematically determining the discriminatory power of various rainfall properties and their combinations in identifying debris flow occurrence is crucial for early warning systems. In this study,we evaluated the discriminatory power of different univariate and multivariate rainfall threshold models in identifying triggering conditions of debris flow in the Jiangjia Gully,Yunnan Province,China. The univariate models used single rainfall properties as indicators, including total rainfall(R_(tot)),rainfall duration(D),mean intensity(I_(mean)),absolute energy(Eabs),storm kinetic energy(E_(s)),antecedent rainfall(R_(a)),and maximum rainfall intensity over various durations(I_(max_dur)).The evaluation reveals that the I_(max_dur)and Eabs models have the best performance, followed by the E_(s),R_(tot),and I_(mean)models,while the D and R_(a)models have poor performances.Specifically, the I_(max_dur)model has the highest performance metrics at a 40-min duration. We used logistic regression to combine at least two rainfall properties to establish multivariate threshold models. The results show that adding D or R_(a)to the models dominated by Eabs,E_(s),R_(tot),or I_(mean)generally improve their performances, specifically when D is combined with I_(mean)or when R_(a)is combined with Eabs or E_(s).Including R_(a)in the I_(max_dur)model,it performs better than the univariate I_(max_dur)model.A power-law relationship between I_(max_dur)and R_(a)or between Eabs and R_(a)has better performance than the traditional I_(mean)–D model, while the performance of the E_(s)–R_(a)model is moderate. Our evaluation reemphasizes the important role of the maximum intensity over short durations in debris flow occurrence. It also highlights the importance of systematically investigating the role of R_(a)in establishing rainfall thresholds for triggering debris flow.Given the regional variations in rainfall patterns worldwide,it is necessary to evaluate the findings of this study across diverse watersheds.

文摘The use of the Internet of Things(IoT)is expanding at an unprecedented scale in many critical applications due to the ability to interconnect and utilize a plethora of wide range of devices. In critical infrastructure domains like oil and gas supply, intelligent transportation, power grids, and autonomous agriculture,it is essential to guarantee the confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of data collected and exchanged. However, the limited resources coupled with the heterogeneity of IoT devices make it inefficient or sometimes infeasible to achieve secure data transmission using traditional cryptographic techniques.Consequently, designing a lightweight secure data transmission scheme is becoming essential. In this article,we propose lightweight secure data transmission(LSDT)scheme for IoT environments.LSDT consists of three phases and utilizes an effective combination of symmetric keys and the Elliptic Curve Menezes-Qu-Vanstone asymmetric key agreement protocol. We design the simulation environment and experiments to evaluate the performance of the LSDT scheme in terms of communication and computation costs.Security and performance analysis indicates that the LSDT scheme is secure, suitable for IoT applications, and performs better in comparison to other related security schemes.

文摘Unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)paths in the field directly affect the efficiency and accuracy of payload data collection.Path planning of UAV advancing along river valleys in wild environments is one of the first and most difficult problems faced by unmanned surveys of debris flow valleys. This study proposes a new hybrid bat optimization algorithm,GRE-Bat(Good point set,Reverse learning,Elite Pool-Bat algorithm),for unmanned exploration path planning of debris flow sources in outdoor environments. In the GRE-Bat algorithm, the good point set strategy is adopted to evenly distribute the population, ensure sufficient coverage of the search space, and improve the stability of the convergence accuracy of the algorithm.Subsequently,a reverse learning strategy is introduced to increase the diversity of the population and improve the local stagnation problem of the algorithm. In addition,an Elite pool strategy is added to balance the replacement and learning behaviors of particles within the population based on elimination and local perturbation factors. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the GRE-Bat algorithm,we conducted multiple simulation experiments using benchmark test functions and digital terrain models.Compared to commonly used path planning algorithms such as the Bat Algorithm(BA)and the Improved Sparrow Search Algorithm(ISSA),the GRE-Bat algorithm can converge to the optimal value in different types of test functions and obtains a near-optimal solution after an average of 60 iterations. The GRE-Bat algorithm can obtain higher quality flight routes in the designated environment of unmanned investigation in the debris flow gully basin, demonstrating its potential for practical application.

文摘This paper investigates the hydrodynamic characteristics of floating truncated cylinders undergoing horizontal and vertical motions due to earthquake excitations in the finite water depth. The governing equation of the hydrodynamic pressure acting on the cylinder is derived based on the radiation theory with the inviscid and incompressible assumptions. The governing equation is solved by using the method of separating variables and analytical solutions are obtained by assigning reasonable boundary conditions. The analytical result is validated by a numerical model using the exact artificial boundary simulation of the infinite water. The main variation and distribution characteristics of the hydrodynamic pressure acting on the side and bottom of the cylinder are analyzed for different combinations of wide-height and immersion ratios. The added mass coefficient of the cylinder is calculated by integrating the hydrodynamic pressure and simplified formulas are proposed for engineering applications. The calculation results show that the simplified formulas are in good agreement with the analytical solutions.

文摘Forests play an important role in controlling the formation and movement processes of debris flows. They contribute to soil stabilization, regulation of soil water content, and act as robust structures impeding the downstream progression of debris flows. On the positive side, trees,to some extent, can intercept debris flows and effectively mitigate their velocity by increasing flow resistance. On the negative side, trees may suffer damage from debris-flow hazards, characterized by the generation of substantial quantities of wood fragments and consequential ramifications such as river channel blockage, resulting in backwater rise.In extreme cases, this blockage collapse can lead to instantaneous discharge amplification, thereby adversely impacting urban safety and impeding sustainable development. Therefore,in order to grasp the effects of tree characteristics on tree failure modes, the tree failure modes and corresponding parameters, diameters at breast height(DBH)and root-soil plate size, were identified and recorded through the post-event field investigation in Keze Gully,a region prone to debrisflow events in Sichuan,China, respectively. To investigate the impact of spatial variability in tree root distribution on tree failure modes, the root crosssectional area ratio(RAR),root density(RD),root length density(RLD)and soil detachment rate(SDR)were obtained. The findings indicated that:(1)Tree characteristics reflect the interactions of debris flows and trees, and influence the tree failure modes ultimately. The root distribution characteristics influence the size and shape of the root-soil plate to affect the resistance of trees.(2)Compared to burial and abrasion, stem breakage and overturning are the predominant modes of tree failure in debris-flow hazards.Trees with a smaller DBH primarily experience stem breakage and bending, and trees with a larger DBH mostly experience overturning.(3)The root-soil plate shapes of overturned trees, affected by the root architecture and root growth range, are generally semielliptical or semicircular, and the horizontal and vertical radii increase with DBH,but the correlation between the root-soil plate’s breadth-depth ratio and DBH is low.(4)The biomass and RAR decrease with distance. The RAR distribution exhibit the order of upslope direction>downslope direction>lateral direction. The coarse root biomass significantly increases with DBH,but no clear trend in fine root biomass.(5)The roots can significantly enhance the soil erosion resistance, but the erosion resistance of coarse roots is not as significant as that of fine roots. The erosion resistance increases with DBH,and follows the order of upslope direction>downslope direction>lateral direction. The results could provide new insights into the influences of tree and root distribution characteristics on tree failure modes during debris flows.

文摘Landslide susceptibility prediction assesses the likelihood of landslides occurring in specific areas, providing crucial scientific support for mitigating the threat to people’s lives and property posed by landslide disasters. To address the challenges in the existing landslide susceptibility prediction methods, such as insufficient representativeness of selected nonlandslide points, limited ability to capture nonlinear relationships, and a tendency to fall into local optima, the traditional Self-Organizing Maps(SOM)is improved in this paper by using a hierarchical approach to form Hierarchical Self-Organizing Maps(HSOM),and a model integrating the Information Value(IV),Adaptive Bat Precise Algorithm(ABPA),and Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)is proposed, termed IABPA-CNN.Evaluation factors such as topography, basic geology and hydrometeorology were selected with the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake-hit disaster area as the study area. The data were preprocessed,Pearson correlation coefficient, tolerance(TOL),and variance inflation factor(VIF)were employed to assess the correlation among all the factors.Subsequently, the information value for each evaluation factor's classification was calculated, thereby establishing a high-quality sample dataset, which was input into the IABPA-CNN model and IVCNN model(contrast model),respectively. The Receiver Operating Characteristic(ROC)curve was used to compare and analyze the accuracy and performance. The Area Under Curve(AUC)values for the two models is 0.89 and 0.85,respectively,indicating that the IABPA-CNN model has higher predictive accuracy.Compared with the IV-CNN model, the proportion of landslides predicted by the IABPA-CNN model in the high susceptibility and very high susceptibility area increased to 28.18%and 30.76%,respectively.Although the area proportions of very low susceptibility and low susceptibility area increased, the proportion of landslides quantity decreased.Furthermore,Monte Carlo method was employed to analyze the uncertainty of IABPA-CNN model, and average variance of 0.0083,which indicates that the model has high reliability in landslide susceptibility prediction. Therefore, the research results in this study provide a reliable scientific basis for the work of landslide disaster prevention and mitigation in Wenchuan earthquake disaster area.

文摘A 5-MW wind turbine has been modeled and analyzed for fluid-structure interaction and aerodynamic performance. In this study, a full-scale model of a 5-MW wind turbine is first developed based on a computational fluid dynamics(CFD) approach, in which the unsteady, noncompressible Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) method is used. The one-way fluid-structure interaction(FSI)model shows a higher frequency of stress-strain and displacement oscillations on the blade compared with the two-way FSI model.

文摘Concerns about the durability of transportation infrastructure due to freeze-thaw(F-T)cycles are particu-larly significant in the Chinese plateau region, where concrete aging and performance deterioration pose substantial challenges. The current national standards for the frost resistance design of concrete struc-tures are based predominantly on the coldest monthly average temperature and do not adequately address the comprehensive effects of the spatiotemporal variance, amplitude, and frequency of F-T cycles. To address this issue, this study introduced a spatiotemporal distribution model to analyze the long-term impact of F-T action on concrete structures by employing statistical analysis and spatial inter-polation techniques.Cluster analysis was applied to create a nationwide zonation of F-T action level from data on the freezing temperature, temperature difference, and the number of F-T cycles.Furthermore, this study explored the similarity between natural environmental conditions and laboratory-accelerated tests using hydraulic pressure and cumulative damage theories.A visualization platform that incorporates tools for meteorological data queries, environmental characteristic analyses, and F-T action similarity calculations was designed. This research lays theoretical groundwork and provides technical guidance for assessing service life and enhancing the quantitative durability design of concrete structures in the Chinese plateau region.

文摘Climate warming is constantly causing hydro-meteorological perturbations, especially in high-altitude mountainous regions, which lead to the occurrences of landslides. The impact of climatic variables(i.e.,precipitation and temperature)on the distribution of landslides in the eastern regions of the Himalayas is poorly understood. To address this, the current study analyzes the relationship between the spatial distribution of landslide characteristics and climatic variables from 2013 to 2021.Google Earth Engine(GEE)was employed to make landslide inventories using satellite data. The results show that 2163,6927,and 9601 landslides were heterogeneously distributed across the study area in 2013,2017,and 2021,respectively.The maximum annual temperature was positively correlated with the distribution of landslides, whereas precipitation was found to have a non-significant impact on the landslide distribution.Spatially, most of the landslides occurred in areas with maximum annual precipitation ranging from 800 to 1600 mm and maximum annual temperature above 15℃.However,in certain regions, earthquake disruptions marginally affected the occurrence of landslides.Landslides were highly distributed in areas with elevations ranging between 3000 and 5000 m above sea level, and many landslides occurred near the lower permafrost limit and close to glaciers. The latter indicates that temperature change-induced freeze-thaw action influences landslides in the region.Temperature changes have shown a positive correlation with the number of landslides within elevations, indicating that temperature affects their spatial distribution.Various climate projections suggest that the region will experience further warming, which will increase the likelihood of landslides in the future. Thus,it is crucial to enhance ground observation capabilities and climate datasets to effectively monitor and mitigate landslide risks.

文摘Artificially cemented soils have been widely used as filling materials in highway and railway construction. The shear strength evolution of filling materials upon moist variation can determine the stability of subgrade and embankments. This study conducted water retention tests,MIP tests, and multi-stage triaxial shear tests on cement-treated granite residual soil(GRS)to determine its water retention curve(WRC)upon free drying, pore structure, and peak shear strength qf,respectively. The water retention behavior and shear strength evolution upon free drying were modeled based on the dual-porosity structure of cement-treated GRS and the effective stress principle, respectively. Results show that the drying-WRC is bimodal and higher cement dosage yields a more severe decrease in the water retention capacity within a specific suction range. For a given confining pressure, the peak shear strength qf increased with increasing cement dosage or suction value s.The peak shear strength qf also solely depends on the suction value in the peak stress state. In addition, the cement-treated GRS has a bimodal pore size distribution curve, and its macro-and micro-void ratios remain almost unchanged after free drying. The bimodal drying-WRC of the cement-treated GRS can be modeled by differentiating the water retention mechanisms in macro-and micro-pores.Moreover,using the macro-pore degree of saturation as the effective stress parameterχ=S_(rM),the q_(f)–p′_(f)relationship(where p′_(f)is the effective mean pressure at failure)under various suction and stress conditions can be unified, and the q_(f)–s relationships at various net confining pressuresσ_(3),net can be well reproduced. These findings can help design subgrade and embankments constructed by artificially cemented GRS and assess their safe operation upon climate change.
文摘The potential groundwater reserve in alluvial aquifers and sandy river beds has not been well studied, and yet their benefit in meeting rural water supply demands cannot be underestimated. The result also shows that the Motloutse alluvial aquifer yields a safe yield of 29,400 m3 for a kilometre of river stretch.
文摘The molecular recyclability of poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET) and three semi-aromatic polyesters poly (phloretic acid) (poly-H), poly (dihydroferulic acid) (poly-G), and poly (dihydrosinapinic acid) (poly-S) is evaluated in this study. It has been demonstrated that the rate coefficients of the depolymerization of the semi-aromatic polyesters poly-H, poly-G, and poly-S are between 2 and 3 orders of magnitude higher than those for PET.
文摘Eddy current dampers (ECDs) have emerged as highly desirable solutions for vibration control due to theirexceptional damping performance and durability. However, the existing constitutive models present challenges tothe widespread implementation of ECD technology, and there is limited availability of finite element analysis (FEA)software capable of accurately modeling the behavior of ECDs. This study addresses these issues by developing anewconstitutivemodel that is both easily understandable and user-friendly for FEAsoftware. By utilizing numericalresults obtained from electromagnetic FEA, a novel power law constitutive model is proposed to capture thenonlinear behavior of ECDs. The effectiveness of the power law constitutive model is validated throughmechanicalproperty tests and numerical seismic analysis. Furthermore, a detailed description of the application process ofthe power law constitutive model in ANSYS FEA software is provided. To facilitate the preliminary design ofECDs, an analytical derivation of energy dissipation and parameter optimization for ECDs under harmonicmotionis performed. The results demonstrate that the power law constitutive model serves as a viable alternative forconducting dynamic analysis using FEA and optimizing parameters for ECDs.

文摘The boulder impact force in debris flow is generally calculated by static methods such as the cantilever beam models. However, these methods cannot describe the dynamic scenario of boulder collision on structures,so the inertia and damping effects of the structures are not involved causing an overestimation on the boulder impact force. In order to address this issue,a dynamic-based model for calculating the boulder impact force of a debris flow was proposed in this study, and the dynamic characteristics of a cantilever beam with multiple degrees of freedom under boulder collision were investigated.By using the drop-weight method to simulate boulders within debris flow, seven experiments of drop-weight impacting the cantilever beam were used to calibrate the error of the dynamicbased model. Results indicate that the dynamic-based model is able to reconstruct the impact force history on the cantilever beam during impact time and the error of dynamic-based model is 15.3%in calculating boulder impact force, significantly outperforming the cantilever beam model’s error of 285%.Therefore,the dynamic-based model can overcome the drawbacks of the static-based models and provide a more reliable theoretical foundation for the engineering design of debris flow control structures.

文摘The specialized equipment utilized in long-line tunnel engineering is evolving towards large-scale,multifunctional,and complex orientations. The vibration caused by the high-frequency units during regular operation is supported by the foundation of the units, and the magnitude of vibration and the operating frequency fluctuate in different engineering contexts, leading to variations in the dynamic response of the foundation. The high-frequency units yield significantly diverse outcomes under different startup conditions and times, resulting in failure to meet operational requirements, influencing the normal function of the tunnel, and causing harm to the foundation structure, personnel, and property in severe cases. This article formulates a finite element numerical computation model for solid elements using three-dimensional elastic body theory and integrates field measurements to substantiate and ascertain the crucial parameter configurations of the finite element model.By proposing a comprehensive startup timing function for high-frequency dynamic machines under different startup conditions, simulating the frequency andmagnitude variations during the startup process, and suggesting functions for changes in frequency and magnitude,a simulated startup schedule function for high-frequency machines is created through coupling.Taking into account the selection of the transient dynamic analysis step length, the dynamic response results for the lower dynamic foundation during its fundamental frequency crossing process are obtained. The validation checks if the structural magnitude surpasses the safety threshold during the critical phase of unit startup traversing the structural resonance region. The design recommendations for high-frequency units’dynamic foundations are provided, taking into account the startup process of the machine and ensuring the safe operation of the tunnel.
