Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are a group of highly conserved molecules which initiate the innate immune response to pathogens by recognizing structural motifs of microbes. Understanding the changes in chicken Toll-like receptors (ChTLRs) and signal adaptors expression that occur with Eimeria tenella infection will help to elucidate the molecular basis of immune control of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria. The present study detected the dynamic changes in the expression of ChTLRs and associated signal adaptors in the spleen and cecum ofE. tenella-infected chickens during the early stage of infection. The results showed that the expression peak for ChTLRs, MyD88 and TRIF occurred at 12 h post-infection (hpi), ChTLR3, ChTLRI 5 and MyD88 mRNA expression in the spleen ofE. tenella infected chickens were significantly higher (P〈0.05) than that of negative control chickens, and there were similar tendencies of these molecules expression in the cecum and spleen of E. tenella-infected chickens. The expression of MyD88 was upregnlated at four time points in the cecum of E. tenella-infected chickens. The results of this study indicate that ChTLR3, ChTLR15 and MyD88 play a role in young chickens infected with E. tenella. 展开更多

A high-yield high-quality orchardgrass line suitable for seed production in western Chongqing region was found, [ Result] The orohardgra^s in western Chongqing region had excellent seed production performance. Among these cultivars, orGhardgrass 01076 had the highest seed produc. tion, up to 512 kg/hm^2. Its germinability, germination rate and germination index were also highest, 49%, 84% and 11, respectively. [Condusion] The orchardgrass 01076 is worth planting in large scale in westem Chongqing region for seed production. 展开更多

The results showed that the lamb meat of Dazu black goats was dch in nutrients, fresh, tender, palatable and fine in texture as well as non-hazardous in quality. Thus, the meat of Dazu black goat is a kind of healthy and nutritious food with rich nutrients, and it has better prospects of exploitation and utilization in the food industry. 展开更多

[ Objective] To extract non-specific transfer factors (TFs) from goose spleens and to detect the activity of the extracts. [Methodl The non-specific TFs were extracted crudely from goose spleens using the dialysis method, and the effects of the extracts on immunity were studied. [ Result] The extracts of goose TFs were transparent, light yellow and non-toxic. The extracts were at pH 6.72 and did not contain higher molecular weight proteins. The concentration of minor polypeptides was 23.78 ug/ml. The results of immunization test showed that the level of antibodies was higher in the geese inoculated with the inactivated vaccine against infections serositis and the extracts of TFs than in the control geese injected with normal saline. In addition, the level of antibodies was significantly higher in the geese only inoculated with inactivated vaccine than in the control geese. The results showed that the extracts of TFs from goose spleens could enhance immunity to a certain extent. [ Conclusion] The study pro- vides a theoretical basis and technical reference for further researches on the biological activity of non-specific TFs from goose spleens as well as for application of the extracts. 展开更多

[Results] After optimizing TLC conditions of Jin Weng Zhi Li Granule,that is,the thin layer plate was pre-equilibrated in the expansion cylinder for 5 min after spotting,the separation effect of TLC of test samples was favorable. The spot color was clear,reproducibility was good,precision was high,specificity was better. [Conclusions] The method was of good feasibility,reproducibility and specificity,and could be used for qualitative detection of matrine in Jin Weng Zhi Li Granule dampnessheat and diarrhea disease. 展开更多

The phytoestrogen puerarin has been shown to protect neurons and astrocytes in the brain, and is therefore an attractive drug in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and cerebral ischemia. Whether puerarin exhibits the same biological processes in neurons and astro-cytesin vitro has rarely been reported. In this study, cortical neurons and astrocytes of newborn Sprague-Dawley rats were separated, identiifed and co-cultured in a system based on Transwell membranes. The retention time and distribution of puerarin in each cell type was detected by lfuorescence spectrophotometry and lfuorescence microscope. The concentration of puerarin in both co-cultured and separately cultured neurons was greater than that of astrocytes. Puerarin concentration reached a maximum 20 minutes after it was added. At 60 minutes after its addi-tion, a scant amount of drug was detected in astrocytes; however in both separately cultured and co-cultured neurons, the concentration of puerarin achieved a stable level of about 12.8 ng/mL. The results indicate that puerarin had a higher concentration and longer retention time in neu-rons than that observed in astrocytes. 展开更多

Contemporary pharmacological research has demonstrated that puerarin, the most important phytoestrogen extracted from Pueraria lobata(Willd.) Ohwi, has protecting functions on the cardiovascular system, nervous system, osteoporosis, liver injury, and inflammation in vivo and in vitro. Most of these research studies focused on inhibiting oxidative stress and apoptosis through regulating various bioactivators and signal pathways. Among these, superoxide dismutase(SOD), endothelial nitric oxide synthase(eNOS) and malondialdehyde(MDA), and PI3K/Akt, MAPK, and NF-κB are of great importance. The data cited in this review were mainly obtained from articles listed in PubMed and Elsevier SDOL published from 1959 to 2013, and the search term used was "puerarin". 展开更多
