Pinning control of a generalized complex dynamical network model

This paper investigates the local and global synchronization of a generalized complex dynamical network model with constant and delayed coupling. Without assuming symmetry of the couplings, we proved that a single controller can pin the generalized complex network to a homogenous solution. Some previous synchronization results are generalized. In this paper, we first discuss how to pin an array of delayed neural networks to the synchronous solution by adding only one controller. Next, by using the Lyapunov functional method, some sufficient conditions are derived for the local and global synchronization of the coupled systems. The obtained results are expressed in terms of LMIs, which can be efficiently checked by the Matlab LMI toolbox. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the theoretical results.

A Research of the Employment Problem on Common Job-seekers and Graduates

A problem on the employment market swarming with both multitudinous common job-seekers and graduates was studied. The employment situation in the market was analyzed firstly. Based on the analysis, the situation was dynamically modeled. The model was properly processed and simplified. A control model corresponding to the method was deduced. As a result, a control solution for the model is obtained, and an example with Simulink demonstrates the control effect. By means of the proposed method, an optimal control for the dynamic balance between multitudinous common job-seekers and graduates can be obtained.

Robust synchronization of uncertain chaotic systems

This paper investigates robust unified （lag, anticipated, and complete） synchronization of two coupled chaotic systems, By introducing the concepts of positive definite symmetrical matrix and Riccati inequality and the theory of robust stability, several criteria on robust synchronization are established. Extensive numerical simulations are also used to confirm the results.

New approach to robust stabilization for a class of singular systems with time-delays

Robust stabilization for a class of singular systems was studied by a new method based on time discretization, and a sufficient condition of the robust stabilization was obtained. Firstly, an approximate system of the closed-loop system of the singular system with time-delays was obtained. The approximate system is a singular system in standard state space. Then, the robust stabilization of the singular system was investigated with time-delays by researching the stability of the approximate system using all the exiting analysis method. Finally, a numerical example was presented to verify the effectiveness of the new method.

Improved delay-dependent globally asymptotic stability of delayed uncertain recurrent neural networks with Markovian jumping parameters

In this paper, we have improved delay-dependent stability criteria for recurrent neural networks with a delay varying over a range and Markovian jumping parameters. The criteria improve over some previous ones in that they have fewer matrix variables yet less conservatism. In addition, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the applicability of the result using the linear matrix inequality toolbox in MATLAB.

Dissipativity Analysis of Neural Networks with Time-varying Delays

A new definition of dissipativity for neural networks is presented in this paper. By constructing proper Lyapunov functionals and using some analytic techniques, sufficient conditions are given to ensure the dissipativity of neural networks with or without time-varying parametric uncertainties and the integro-differential neural networks in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.

Cooling hot rolling steel strip using combined tactics

The coiling temperature control of a typical steel strip mill was investigated. Due to the high speed of a strip and complex circumstance, it is very hard to set up a cooling model with high accuracy. A simplified dynamic model was proposed, based on which a cooling control scheme with combined feedforward, feedback and adaptive algorithms was developed. Meanwhile, the genetic algorithms were used for the optimization of model parameters. Simulations with a model validated using actual plant data were conducted, and the results have confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed control methods. At last, a simulation system for coiling temperature control was developed. It can be used for new product trials and newcomer training.

Identification of lactobacillus casei-BDI and Streptococcus thermophilus by fluorescence spectra

Fluorescence analysis applied in the study of lactic acid bacteria （LAB） provides a new method and theory to study probiotics and realize the detection and identification of the strains. It is also possible to achieve automation and computerization. In this letter, the differences between the fluorescence spectra of lactobacilIus casei-BDI （Lc-BDI） and Streptococcus thermophilus （St） are shown, and the second-order derivative spectra are used to further study the diversity of these two strains. According to the results, with the excitation wavelengths of 285 and 340 nm, there are significant differences between them. The experiment is repeated for 6 times, showing good repetitiveness.

Slant path average intensity of finite optical beam propagating in turbulent atmosphere

The average intensity of finite laser beam propagating through turbulent atmosphere is calculated from the extended Huygens Fresnel principle. Formulas are presented for the slant path average intensity from an arbitrarily truncated Gaussian beam. The new expressions are derived from the modified von Karman spectrum for refractive-index fluctuations, quadratic approximation of the structure function, and Gaussian approximation for the product of Gaussian function and Bessel function. It is shown that the form of average intensity is not a Gaussian function but a polynomial of the power of the binomial function, Gaussian function, and the incomplete gamma function. The results also show that the mean irradiance of a finite optical beam propagating in slant path turbulent atmosphere not only depends on the effective beam radius at the transmitting aperture plane, propagation distance, and long-term lateral coherence length of spherical wave, but also on the radius of emit aperture.
