Research on the path of effective management of participation in joint-venture railway companies by China railway group

Purpose-Following the regional restructuring,the number of joint-venture railway companies in which the Group participates has significantly increased.This paper aims to explore the challenges faced by China Railway Group in managing participation in joint-venture railway companies.The study seeks to propose specific approaches to ensure the effective management of these companies,thereby maximizing the benefits of the regional restructuring and supporting the development of a strong transportation country and a modern infrastructure system.Design/methodology/approach-Based on the change in the shareholding relationship between China Railway Group and the joint-venture railway companies,and considering the current situation of the regional restructuring of these companies,as well as the insights from existing literature and typical case studies,this paper proposes some specific paths for effective management of joint-stock railway companies which China Railway Group participated in.Findings-The problems in participation management are the unclear dual leadership role of the party committee,the lack of discourse power,the lack of synergy between shareholders,the increasing risk of sustainable operation of the loss-making companies and the role of dispatched personnel is not fully played.Based on the theories,combined with the existing research and practical cases,the paper proposed specific approaches,such as perfecting top-level system design,maintaining the discourse power,carrying out differentiated management,arranging personnel rationally,arranging shareholders synergy,and innovating methods to provide references for China Railway Group’s subsequent management of joint venture railway companies.Originality/value-This paper contributes to the existing literature by providing a comprehensive analysis of the challenges faced by China Railway Group in managing participation in joint-venture railway companies following the regional restructuring.The study offers novel insights and practical recommendations for addressing these challenges.The findings can serve as valuable references for China Railway Group’s subsequent management of joint-venture railway companies which participated in,as well as for other stateowned enterprises facing similar challenges in managing their joint ventures.

Research on dynamic matching model of electric vehicles and charging facilities in China:A case study of taxis in Beijing

Charging infrastructure supports the rapid development of China's new energy vehicle industry.It not only plays a decisive role in providing accessible and convenient services for electric vehicle(EV)users but also,in one of the seven new infrastructure areas,plays an important role in stabilizing growth and unleashing economic potential during the new coronavirus(COVID-19)pandemic,impacting China's economy.In this study,the system dynamics model was used to predict the development of the EV industry and the demand for charging infrastructure,while considering the influence of policy,increase in EV mileage,and consumer purchase intention index.Furthermore,using the matching of EVs and charging infrastructure in Beijing and policy oriented sensitivity analysis,a simulation of the construction of battery swap taxis and power stations under three policy scenarios was conducted.This research shows that with policies implemented to support charging infrastructure and swapping compatible taxis,Beijing can achieve its goal of replacing all EVs with fast-swap batteries and fast-charging functions within three years.

Empirical Analysis on Asset Impairment and Earnings Management under the Background of Accounting Standards Variance

Earning management is a pioneering research subject and a world problem rising in international economics and accounting field since 1980s. It is also common in listed companies of our country and has a degree of adverse effect on sound operation of market economy. The exploration on earning management firstly is based on knowing the related research achievements at home and abroad to compare the environment and background of different theories generating. Then the paper starts from the definition to analyze the effect of concrete accounting standards on earning management complemented with the proof of cases. Lastly, the paper analyzes the data of some listed companies from 2008 to 2011 with empirical method, and verifies the effect of implementing asset impairment criteria on earning management of listed companies from the view of industry. Focusing on the comparative study of industries, the paper draws valuableconclusion which is consistent with the real situation, and the paper refines the research of domestic earning management.

Performance evaluation of high frequency sub-bands of wavelet transform for palmprint recognition

Wavelet decomposition has been applied in palmprint recognition successfully. However, only the low frequency sub-band was used for further feature extraction, while the high frequency sub-bands were consid2 ered to be unsuitable for palmprint recognition due to their sensitivity to noise and shape distortion. In this pa- per, we firstly investigate the performances of all the sub-bands by using principal component analysis （PCA） on the BJTU and PolyU palmprint databases, and then use mean filtering to enhance the robustness of the high frequency sub-bands. We find that the preprocessed high frequency sub-bands not only can be used for palm- print recognition but also contain complementary information with the low frequency sub-band. The experimental results show that the performances of the horizontal and vertical high frequency sub-bands can be promoted up to a competitive level, and the fusion scheme, which combines the matching scores of high frequency sub-bands with that of low frequency sub-band, is superior to the conventional recognition methods.

In recent years,the global surge of High-speed Railway(HSR)revolutionized ground transportation,providing secure,comfortable,and punctual services.The next-gen HSR,fueled by emerging services like video surveillance,emergency communication,and real-time scheduling,demands advanced capabilities in real-time perception,automated driving,and digitized services,which accelerate the integration and application of Artificial Intelligence(AI)in the HSR system.This paper first provides a brief overview of AI,covering its origin,evolution,and breakthrough applications.A comprehensive review is then given regarding the most advanced AI technologies and applications in three macro application domains of the HSR system:mechanical manufacturing and electrical control,communication and signal control,and transportation management.The literature is categorized and compared across nine application directions labeled as intelligent manufacturing of trains and key components,forecast of railroad maintenance,optimization of energy consumption in railroads and trains,communication security,communication dependability,channel modeling and estimation,passenger scheduling,traffic flow forecasting,high-speed railway smart platform.Finally,challenges associated with the application of AI are discussed,offering insights for future research directions.

The restructuring of the manufacturing industry and the development of career path:The dual effect of the sharing economy

With the development of information and communications technology,the sharing economy grows dramatically.For example,the transaction value in China’s sharing economy was about 42942 billion RMB in 2018,increased of 41.6%over the previous year.Critique of the sharing economy points that the presence of the sharing economy prevents its traditional counterpart from developing sustainably by creating unemployment in traditional industries related to the sharing economy.This paper is therefore to study the dual effect of the sharing economy on the restructuring the manufacturing industry and the development of career path.By constructing an economic model,we particularly investigate the change in the labor market structure due to the presence of the sharing economy and the welfare in such a case.We show that the presence of the sharing economy can bring two effects,i.e.,DIVERSIFICATION and INCLUSIVENESS,into the workplace,which enriches the job structure and allows more labor with relative low skills to join.Regardless of the labor skill,the rapid development of the sharing economy provides new paths for their career development.In addition,we demonstrate that the above two effects crucially rely on the characteristic of CORRECTNESS of the government’s policy.The results of the theoretical model explain the necessary of promoting moderate sharing economy in terms of career development and can also be applied in the traditional manufacturing industry to explain the effect of the sharing economy on such industry.

Is China’s Economic Growth Profitled or Wage-led?——A Theoretical Inquiry and Empirical Study on the Impact of Labor Share on Growth

The paper makes a comparative review and evaluation of different theories on impacts of the distribution of labor and capital income on economic growth as well as criticism of the mainstream theories and suggests using Bhaduri-Marglin model as the theoretical basis for relevant research.
