Studies on China＇ s Foreign Language Education Policies in Multimedia Context ( 1920 -2015)

This paper reviews the evolving foreign language education policies and their interaction with the development of the multimedia education and information technology in China since the 1920 s.Major national foreign language education policies have been cited to analyze their emergence in the multimedia context and their influences on foreign language education.Studies show that foreign language education in China has experienced several ups and downs throughout these years.The policy-making and the education practices maintain a dynamic balance between each other.

The Basic Role of Cultural Knowledge of Both the Source and Target Culture in Translation

Cultural knowledge of both the source and target culture plays a significant role in the translation. For the reason that translation is an activity of cross-cultural communication, cultural knowledge can bring the important impact on translation, including facilitating the quality of translation, overcoming cultural barriers and equipping translators as qualified intercultural communicators. From above aspects, cultural knowledge is taking up a dominant position in translation and influencing translation effectively.

The Constraints of CLT' s Application in ELT Classroom

Communicative Language Teaching(CLT) aims to develop students' communicative competence,while it does not work as expected with many students lacking of successful experience in English communication.In terms of the principles and characteristics of CLT,this paper tries to make an analysis on the causes of this phenomenon from three aspects:students,teachers and educational system.Some suggestions,presented in the end,hopefully,can bring some enlightenment on the English Language Teaching(ELT) of China.

On Gender Difference of Language in Emma

Many findings suggest that gender has a great influence on the using of language. The thesis attempts to discuss the gender difference of language in Emma by analyzing certain selected sections of the novel from the perspective of, lexicon, syntax,and discourse with the knowledge of linguistics and pragmatics, so as to draw a general conclusion on the gender difference in lexicon, syntax, and in the application of conversational principles. Through the analysis of gender difference of language in Emma,the thesis expects to help the readers acknowledge the difference in women's speech and men's speech, so as to reduce the barriers of cross-gender communication, and promote the harmonious communication between men and women.

An Ecocritical Reading of Tess of the d' Urbervilles

Tess of the d'Urbervilles,Tomas Hardy's masterpiece,was published in 1891,marking a turning point in Hardy's literary life.This essay attempts to analyze Tess of the d'Urbervilles in the light of Ecocriticism and seeks to throw a new light on this novel.Through a close study of the relationship between Tess and nature,the essay interprets the process of Tess's tragedy as the inharmonious relationship between nature and the modern civilization which is represented by Alec and Angel.In this way,this thesis tries to provide a fresh perspective that may enable us to realize the importance of environmental protection and have a better understanding of this novel.

THE THEORETICAL MODEL OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE POWER OF THE TRAFFIC POLICE IN CHINA

The field of administrative power of the traffic police in China has been relatively under-researched and has not been comprehensively regarded as a separate legal category. Previous research on this topic has been mostly restricted to limited understanding of the administrative power of the traffic police in China, let alone feasible legislative regulations. This study will deal with this issue by deconstructing the power of the traffic police. Based on the investigation of the administrative power and its practice of the traffic police,the administrative power model of the traffic police in China can be refined and modeled as the power of licensing, the investigative power, the determinative power, the mediation power, the reward power, the guidance power, and other forms of power. This theoretical model illustrates the theoretical framework of the administrative power of the traffic police in China, and helps administrative counterparts realize the traffic right of way and protect their legal rights.Meanwhile, it is conducive for traffic administrative departments to effectively regulate its power and practice. It will also improve the modernization of the national governance system and governance capacity, and facilitate the in-depth implementation of particular administrative laws, especially the police law.
