In the academic world, scholars believe that online trust is a key factor contributing to online purchasing behavior. This article explored several factors in social media trust and verified the moderating role of offline familiarity by using relevant research on online trust in conjunction with a structure equation model. The results show that independent variables such as reputation, SNS interaction, information quality, reciprocity, satisfaction and shared values have a positive influence on trust, whereas perceived similarity does not, and information quality is the most important factor. In addition, offline familiarity significantly moderates the relations between information quality, reciprocity, reputation, shared values and social media trust. This information is important to assist companies in developing an effective social network marketing strategy.展开更多

The proposed algorithm is characterized by the following four features:(1) the ancestors should be more representative than the descendants,(2) the semantic meaning along the ancestor-descendant paths needs to be coherent,(3) the children of one parent are collectively exhaustive and mutually exclusive in describing their parent, and(4) tags are roughly evenly distributed to their upper-level parents to avoid structural skew. Findings: The proposed algorithm has been compared with a well-established solution Heymann Tag Tree(HTT). The experimental results using a social tag dataset showed that the proposed algorithm with its default condition outperformed HTT in precision based on Open Directory Project(ODP) classification. It has been verified that h-degree can be applied as a better node generality metric compared with degree centrality.Research limitations: A thorough investigation into the evaluation methodology is needed, including user studies and a set of metrics for evaluating semantic coherence and navigation performance.Practical implications: The algorithm will benefit the use of digital resources by generating a flexible domain knowledge structure that is easy to navigate. It could be used to manage multiple resource collections even without social annotations since tags can be keywords created by authors or experts, as well as automatically extracted from text.Originality/value: Few previous studies paid attention to the issue of whether the tagging systems are easy to navigate for users. The contributions of this study are twofold:(1) an algorithm was developed to construct tag trees with consideration given to both semanticcoherence and structural balance and(2) the effectiveness of a node generality metric, h-degree, was investigated in a tag co-occurrence network.展开更多

First of all, we built an S-SWOT theoretical framework for MNC Chinese subsidiary strategy analysis. Then, we conducted an empirical analysis of MNC Chinese subsidiary strategies at different periods of time based on the two questionnaire-based surveys undertaken in 2001 and 2005 and a field interview made with such subsidiary executives in 2006. Our study found that MNC Chinese subsidiary overall strategies and functional strategies significantly changed from 2001 to 2006. In particular, MNC Chinese subsidiaries: became increasingly wholly foreign owned and profit oriented; boosted M&A and alliance activities; localized research and development; paid more attention to intangible assets (brand and image) management; coordinated the extent of localization and integration; and assigned key positions to local personnel. We also noticed both a strategic convergence and a considerable strategic difference between the Chinese subsidiaries of MNCs from different countries during the evolution of their Chinese subsidiary strategies.展开更多

However, realization of human rights is decided not only by lofty ideals but also pragmatic values. That is, can human rights be used for solving major issues of society? With regard to the pragmatic value of human rights, the relationship between human rights and defusing public disputes is one of the questions debated by academic researchers and practitioners. Their focus is whether human rights protection helps in defusing public disputes.展开更多
