Analysis of the Harmonious Discourse of Publicity Documentary Seasons of China Based on Transitivity System

Publicity documentaries play an important role in shaping the image of one country during the international communication.Seasons of China is a publicity documentary introducing the traditional Chinese culture 24 solar terms.Under the guidance of the framework of Harmonious Discourse Analysis,this thesis uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze the harmonious discourse of this documentary based on the transitivity system.The research finds that the discourse of Seasons of China conveys the China’s ecological concept of respecting,following and protecting the nature,while telling the stories of Chinese traditional culture 24 solar terms,highlighting the image of China as a responsible country for ecological civilization construction.

PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS ON THE INTENSITY AND STRUCTURE OF TYPHOON MORAKOT(2009) DURING ITS LANDING PROCESS

NCEP GFS(Global Forecast System)analytical data(available 4 times per day),satellite cloud image data and real-time observations of path and intensity of Typhoon Morakot are employed to investigate the variation of synoptic dynamics in its intensity and structure before and after the landing.This study intends to offer some hints for the forecast of intensity and structure of typhoons.Results show that in the tangential direction,the averaged asymmetry amplitude of wind on the radius of a large-value center of the low-level wind can be used as an important parameter for diagnosing the intensity of typhoons.Besides,the maximum of the upper dry potential vorticity in Morakot’s center tends to extend downward along the intensive gradient of tangential wind situated on the inner side of a large-value center of the low-level tangential wind.Additionally,the radial advection of the tangential wind determines the variation of tangential wind in conjunction with the vertical transmission of the tangential wind,the inertial centrifugal force and the Coriolis force.These four items are dominant in the motion equation of tangential wind based on a cylindrical coordinate without the effects of friction and turbulence.Moreover,the low-level convergence center of the typhoon has a tendency of shifting and developing along the intensive gradient of the tangential wind in the tangential direction.

An Analysis of Ecowomanism in The Color Purple

The Color Purple is a well known work of Alice Walker, which describes black women living in the bottom of that society and a course of them keep fighting for realizing spiritual liberation and personality independence, as well as equality in politics and race. Many scholars at home and abroad prefer to study this novel from feminism, womanism, and writing technique, but few study it from ecowamnism perspcctive. This thesis intends to take The Color Purple of Alice Walker as a research object, ecowomanism as a theoretical basis for reflecting ecowomanism in it and actual meanings. Only when women bravely realized their selfvalue, beauty and preciousness and knew the self-importance and being an independent person from spiritual and body, can they achieve happiness. Only we respect, close, head for nature, can harmonious coexistence with nature be realized.

Translation of The Catcher in the Rye from the Perspective of Skopos Theory——A Case Study of Sun Zhongxu's Translation Work

This paper analyzes the E-C translation of the book The Catcher in the Rye from the perspective of Skopos theory,taking Sun Zhongxu's translation work as an example,in which,literature method and case study method are adopted.The paper finds that Sun Zhongxu uses many colloquial expressions to convey the meaning of the source language.His translation strategies,his translation of American slangs,and his choices of words all reflect the three rules of Skopos theory.

Modeling and Analysis of Complex Equipment Maintenance Dynamics

An equipment maintenance system is naturally a complex dynamical system. The effective mamanagement must be based on the knowledge of the system＇s intrinsic dynamics. And the strueture of the maintenance system determines its behavior. This paper analyzes the basic structures and elements of a maintenance system for complex multi-components equipment. The maintenance system is considered as a dynamic system whose behavior is influenced by its structure＇s feedback and interaction, and the system＇s available resources. Building the dynamical model with Simulink, we show some results about the maintenance system＇s nonlinear dynamics, ods. The model can be used for understanding and which operational adjustments of maintenance which are never given by stochastic process methdetermining maintenance system behavior, towards n of maintenance requirements and timely supply of maintenance resources can be made in a more informed way.

Education and the Fourth Industrial Revolution:Lessons from COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted educators to rethink educational practices,especially with regard to technology.The COVID-19 pandemic is a huge challenge to education systems around the world.This Viewpoint offers guidance to teachers,institutional heads,and officials on addressing the crisis.This study investigated technology use in teaching during the COVID-19 lockdown inMalaysia,focusing on technology-based teaching methods,modifications necessitated by this new teaching style,and challenges teachers faced when using technology.Using purposive sampling,a qualitative study was undertaken with a sample of 10 English language teachers from Arabic schools in Malaysia.The results indicated that a digital leap occurred in education during the COVID-19 lockdown because teachers had to quickly adapt to a more technology-based teaching style.The challenges teachers faced included managing virtual classes,ensuring reliable Internet connections,overcoming a lack of preparedness and low digital competence,and dealing with students’mental health.Such changes in teaching methods have created new roles for teachers while also increasing their acceptance of e-learning and remote learning.The contribution of this research is to provide a holistic picture of remote education activities during the pandemic period to establish a linkage between the online teaching-learning process during the COVID-19 outbreak as to ensure the resumption of teaching-learning education as a normal course of procedure in the education system.Despite the human suffering brought by the pandemic,the new norms of education during COVID-19 generally have some pockets of excellence to drive the education into the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Abstract:Recent years witness the great concerns and anxieties from an increasing number of researchers upon the issue of media globalization and culture identity,or rather homogenization and heterogeneity.There,however,exists a harmonious relationship between media globalization and culture identity,rather than a contradictive one.Media globalization can effectively represent audience’s culture identity in its process of localization.In sense of culture,reasons to media localization and measures to achieve localization will be discussed from the commercial,social and practical perspectives.

A Study on“Chinese Culture Aphasia”in College English Teaching

With the rapid development of globalization and internationalization, English plays an increasingly important role in international exchanges. Many Chinese experts and scholars believe that the primary goal of foreign language teaching is the development of intercultural communicative competence. Intercultural communication, equal and bidirectional, is not only the cultural exchange of target language, but the Chinese language. Foreign language teachers and scholars have emphasized the target language teaching of the west in Chinese universities, and Chinese culture has been neglected for a long time, contributing to"Chinese culture aphasia."Based on this situation, some Chinese cultural enlightenment can be acquired, which improve the ability of Chinese college students to express Chinese culture in English from the analysis of this study.

Study on carbon emission calculation method and carbon reduction indexes of urban building stock

Carbon emissions associated with buildings are a major source of urban emissions. To put forward the methods and strategies to curb carbon emissions from urban building stock, it is not only necessary to establish a carbon emission calculation method for fine statistical analysis, but also to evaluate carbon emissions of urban planning schemes with applicable indexes. Currently,researches mainly focus on carbon emissions of individual buildings. When expanded to urban building stock, the calculation faces the lack of basic data, inadequate spatial analysis and unspecific carbon reduction indexes. Therefore, this study proposes a bottom-up calculation method for urban building stock, conducts spatial analysis based on carbon balance of urban grids, reveals the coupling mechanism between urban carbon reduction indexes and grid carbon emissions, and systematically establishes a carbon-reduction-oriented urban planning method that comprises calculation, analysis and evaluation, which is applied to Xi'an,China. This study provides a theoretical reference for cities to formulate carbon reduction targets and implement planning strategies by evaluating and predicting carbon emissions from urban building stock.

A Knowledge Graph Based Approach to Social Science Surveys

Recent success of knowledge graphs has spurred interest in applying them in open science,such as on intelligent survey systems for scientists.However,efforts to understand the quality of candidate survey questions provided by these methods have been limited.Indeed,existing methods do not consider the type of on-the-fly content planning that is possible for face-to-face surveys and hence do not guarantee that selection of subsequent questions is based on response to previous questions in a survey.To address this limitation,we propose a dynamic and informative solution for an intelligent survey system that is based on knowledge graphs.To illustrate our proposal,we look into social science surveys,focusing on ordering the questions of a questionnaire component by their level of acceptance,along with conditional triggers that further customise participants’experience.Our main findings are:(i)evaluation of the proposed approach shows that the dynamic component can be beneficial in terms of lowering the number of questions asked per variable,thus allowing more informative data to be collected in a survey of equivalent length;and(ii)a primary advantage of the proposed approach is that it enables grouping of participants according to their responses,so that participants are not only served appropriate follow-up questions,but their responses to these questions may be analysed in the context of some initial categorisation.We believe that the proposed approach can easily be applied to other social science surveys based on grouping definitions in their contexts.The knowledge-graph-based intelligent survey approach proposed in our work allows online questionnaires to approach face-to-face interaction in their level of informativity and responsiveness,as well as duplicating certain advantages of interview-based data collection.

汉语话题句中语迹的神经机制研究(英文)

语迹理论是生成语法框架下所提出的重要理论假设,但这种理论假设正确与否,句法表征中是否真正存在没有语音形式的语迹,必须得到与语言相关的脑神经机制的实验验证。本研究在生成语法理论背景下,利用高时间分辨率的事件相关电位技术,以汉语话题句为研究语料,考察了汉语语迹的神经机制问题。实验结果表明,在汉语话题句的加工过程中所诱发的持续负波、动词位置的负成分以及句末位置的P600成分,均反映了句首话题成分移位后会在原有位置留有语迹,二者之间存在句法依存关系。根据实验结果,我们认为,语迹在汉语话题句中有其神经机制,语迹理论假设的合理性能够得到大脑神经机制上的证明。同时研究也从神经机制的角度逆向证实了汉语话题句是经由移位生成的句法结构。

Literary Activities among the ＂Educated Youth＂： Background on Bei Dao＇s Waves

This paper discusses how the literature was created based on the experiences of the ＂Educated Youth＂ in the reform and opening-up era. Firstly, the author summarizes the network and literary activities of the Educated Youth. Second, he analyzes the poetry of literary magazines that they expressed their own experiences in the reform era, and thirdly, he discusses the trial by the magazine＇s editorial staff to describe their experiences in fiction and its difficulties. Furthermore, this paper examines the origin of Chinese literature on 198os, especially the origin of modernism literature in China.

A PO-CI/MC-CDMA scheme for high modulation styles

Through analyzing the theoretical spreading principle,it has been proved in this paper that the benefit of pseudo-orthogonal carrier interferometry(PO-CI)spreading code is not supported when complex signal modulation(e.g.,quadrature phase-shift keying(QPSK)and quadrature amplitude modulation(QAM))types are employed.On this basis,a novel and feasible structure for this problem is brought forward.Within the structure mentioned,instead of complex modulation patterns,pulse amplitude modulation(PAM)combined with PO-CI spreading code is utilized.This allows us to maintain the throughput increase of a multi-carrier code division multiple access(MC-CDMA)system with minimal loss in performance and no bandwidth expansion.
