The new structure...We propose a new structure for artificial joints with a joint capsule which is designed to overcome the drawback of current prostheses that omit many functions of the lubricant and the joint capsule. The new structure is composed of three components: lubricant, artificial joint and artificial joint capsule. The lubricant sealed in the capsule can not only reduce the wear of the artificial joint but also prevents the wear particles leaking into the body. So unexpected reactions between the wear particles and body can be avoided completely. A three-dimensional (3-D) finite element analysis (FEA) model was created for a bionic knee joint with capsule. The stresses and their distribution in the artificial capsule were simulated with different thickness, loadings, and flexion angles. The results show that the maximum stress occurs in the area between the artificial joint and the capsule. The effects of capsule thickness and the angles of flexion on stress are discussed in detail.展开更多

A test method appropriate to LED backlight LCD TVs using the local dimming technique is proposed in this paper, and then the test software is developed. The results demonstrate that the test software developed can show the real average power consumption of the LCD using local dimming technique, and by normalization the power consumption become comparable for not only local dimming LCD TVs but global dimming LCD TVs. Using the software developed in this paper, the ratio of power saving is clear when an LCD TV using the local dimming technique compared with one without local dimming technique.展开更多
In order to look for the best proportion of β-tricalcium phosphate(β-TCP)and poly(lactideco-glycolide)(PLGA)we fabricated porous composites β-TCP/PLGA scaffold using freeze-drying method.Morphologicalcharacte...In order to look for the best proportion of β-tricalcium phosphate(β-TCP)and poly(lactideco-glycolide)(PLGA)we fabricated porous composites β-TCP/PLGA scaffold using freeze-drying method.Morphologicalcharacterization using scanning electron microscopy showed that the interconnected pore distribution was even and there was no significant difference with the increase of PLGA content.Moreover,the porosity,compressive strength and degradation in vitro were characterized.The fabricated scaffolds with increased PLGA in the composites β-TCP/PLGA scaffolds willget stronger mechanicalproperty and better appearance,furthermore,get suitable environment for cells.According to the evaluation indexes for the tissue engineering scaffold,the group of scaffold(β-TCP/PLGA=6:4)was selected to evaluate the induced celladhesion and proliferative ability of the scaffolds.Then as transplant embed into the bone criticaldefect sites on rats femur.The repairing processes of bone defect sites were characterized by X-ray analysis within 12 weeks.X-ray analysis showed that the bone defect sites alldisplayed the formation of callus obviously,In summary,our data suggest that the scaffold(β-TCP/PLGA=6:4)has a promising clinicalfuture in regeneration of bone criticaldefects.展开更多
Nanowires and nanotubes of diverse material compositions,properties and/or functions have been produced or fabricated through various bottom-up or top-down approaches.These nanowires or nanotubes have also been utiliz...Nanowires and nanotubes of diverse material compositions,properties and/or functions have been produced or fabricated through various bottom-up or top-down approaches.These nanowires or nanotubes have also been utilized as potential building blocks for functional nanodevices.The key for the integration of those nanowire or nanotube based devices is to assemble these one dimensional nanomaterials to specific locations using techniques that are highly controllable and scalable.Ideally such techniques should enable assembly of highly uniform nanowire/nanotube arrays with precise control of density,location,dimension or even material types of nanowires/nanotubes.Numerous assembly techniques are being developed that can quickly align and assemble large quantities of one type or multiple types of nanowires through parallel processes,including flow-assisted alignment,Langmuir-Blodgett assembly,bubble-blown technique,electric/magnetic-field directed assembly,contact/roll printing,knocking-down,etc..With these assembling techniques,applications of nanowire/nanotube based devices such as flexible electronics and sensors have been demonstrated.This paper delivers an overall review of directed nanowire/nanotube assembling approaches and analyzes advantages and limitations of each method.The future research directions have also been discussed.展开更多

The effects of ultrasonic bonding parameters on the reliability of flip chip GaN-based...This work applied the ultrasonic bonding to package flip chip GaN-based light emitting diodes (flip chip LEDs) on Si substrates. The effects of ultrasonic bonding parameters on the reliability of flip chip GaN-based LED were investigated. In the sequent aging tests, samples were driven with a constant current of 80 mA for hundreds hours at the room temperature. It was found that the electroluminescence (EL) intensity variation had a large correlation to the ultrasonic power, and then to the bonding temperature and force. A high bonding temperature and ultrasonic power and a proper bonding force improved the EL intensity significantly. It was contributed to a strong atom inter-diffusion forming a stable joint at the bonding interface, The temperature fluctuation in the aging test was the main factor to generate a high inner stress forming delamination at the interface between the chip and Au bump. As a result, delamination had retarded the photons to emit out of the LED packaging and decay its EL intensity.展开更多

We study the correlation between detrended fluctuation analysis(DFA) and the Lempel-Ziv complexity(LZC) in nonlinear time series analysis in this paper.Typical dynamic systems including a logistic map and a Duffin...We study the correlation between detrended fluctuation analysis(DFA) and the Lempel-Ziv complexity(LZC) in nonlinear time series analysis in this paper.Typical dynamic systems including a logistic map and a Duffing model are investigated.Moreover,the influence of Gaussian random noise on both the DFA and LZC are analyzed.The results show a high correlation between the DFA and LZC,which can quantify the non-stationarity and the nonlinearity of the time series,respectively.With the enhancement of the random component,the exponent α and the normalized complexity index C show increasing trends.In addition,C is found to be more sensitive to the fluctuation in the nonlinear time series than α.Finally,the correlation between the DFA and LZC is applied to the extraction of vibration signals for a reciprocating compressor gas valve,and an effective fault diagnosis result is obtained.展开更多

It is difficult to measure the distortion. A large-scale flexible test prototype system is built for sheet structure vibration monitoring based on the vibration information of the solar array in space. The system provides an intelligent test method for flexible space structure with embedded sensors and non-visualization reinstruction. Multiple fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors are packaged and embedded into the structure with spatial division multiplexing (SDM) and wavelength division multiplexing (WDM). The sensor interrogator distinguishes wavelength shifts that can be turned into curvature of the curve. The structure shape is reconstructed based on the curvature information and the arc-length, and then displayed. The experiment shows that the system has a high FBG sensitivity. The reconstruction algorithm is fast with high precision. The system has great potential for use in health monitoring of the space sheet structure.展开更多

In the proposed design...This paper presents an efficient VLSI architecture of the contest-based adaptive variable length code (CAVLC) decoder with power optimized for the H.264/advanced video coding (AVC) standard. In the proposed design, according to the regularity of the codewords, the first one detector is used to solve the low efficiency and high power dissipation problem within the traditional method of table-searching. Considering the relevance of the data used in the process of runbefore's decoding, arithmetic operation is combined with finite state machine (FSM), which achieves higher decoding efficiency. According to the CAVLC decoding flow, clock gating is employed in the module level and the register level respectively, which reduces 43% of the overall dynamic power dissipation. The proposed design can decode every syntax element in one clock cycle. When the proposed design is synthesized at the clock constraint of 100 MHz, the synthesis result shows that the design costs 11 300 gates under a 0.25 μm CMOS technology, which meets the demand of real time decoding in the H.264/AVC standard.展开更多

To make lighter-than-air platform a robotic blimp with significant levels of autonomy, the decoupled longitude and latitude dynamic model is developed, and the hardware and software of the flight control system are designed and detailed. Flight control and navigation strategy and algorithms for waypoint flight problem are discussed. This control system has its compacted configuration and reliability. Then the logic implementation and system application are presented based on the fraetal model of the optimal scan architecture, and the application results achieved target of eliminating time redundancy and increasing the scanning availability. The instability of a-Si TFT is ascribed to the defect state in the a-Si channel and SiNx/a-Si interface. It is designed for car body's control. Advanced peripheral bus (APB) is a low speed AMBA bus connecting low-power peripherals. This paper presents an implementation of APB interface for MV10 MCU. After that, MV10 can be integrated into any AMBA system on chips (SoCs) easily. We have built a multi-core system with ABMA to verify this design, In this system ARM9 is a main processor mounted on AHB and MV10 acts as a low-power and low-speed slaver on APB. Before building this system, some operations are encapsulated into a task with dedicated ID. MV10 works as a co-processor with ARM by acquiring task ID from ARM. The result of simulation indicates that MCU can work well as expected. Based on our design, MV10 can be mounted on any AMBA system from now on.展开更多

The Hilbert spectrum thus obtained is able to reflect the distribution of the signal energy ...Hilbert-Huang transform method has been widely utilized from its inception because of the superiority in varieties of areas. The Hilbert spectrum thus obtained is able to reflect the distribution of the signal energy in a number of scales accurately. In this paper, a novel feature called ECC is proposed via feature extraction of the Hilbert energy spectrum which describes the distribution of the instantaneous energy. The experimental results conspicuously demonstrate that ECC outperforms the traditional short-term average energy. Combination of the ECC with mel frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCC) delineates the distribution of energy in the time domain and frequency domain, and the features of this group achieve a better recognition effect compared with the feature combination of the short-term average energy, pitch and MFCC. Afterwards, further improvements of ECC are developed. TECC is gained by combining ECC with the teager energy operator, and EFCC is obtained by introducing the instantaneous frequency to the energy. In the experiments, seven status of emotion are selected to be recognized and the highest recognition rate 83.57% is achieved within the classification accuracy of boredom reaching 100%. The numerical results indicate that the proposed features ECC, TECC and EFCC can improve the performance of speech emotion recognition substantially.展开更多

文摘We study the correlation between detrended fluctuation analysis(DFA) and the Lempel-Ziv complexity(LZC) in nonlinear time series analysis in this paper.Typical dynamic systems including a logistic map and a Duffing model are investigated.Moreover,the influence of Gaussian random noise on both the DFA and LZC are analyzed.The results show a high correlation between the DFA and LZC,which can quantify the non-stationarity and the nonlinearity of the time series,respectively.With the enhancement of the random component,the exponent α and the normalized complexity index C show increasing trends.In addition,C is found to be more sensitive to the fluctuation in the nonlinear time series than α.Finally,the correlation between the DFA and LZC is applied to the extraction of vibration signals for a reciprocating compressor gas valve,and an effective fault diagnosis result is obtained.

文摘The space sheet for a solar array structure is large in dimension, and flexible to induce complex distortion. It is difficult to measure the distortion. A large-scale flexible test prototype system is built for sheet structure vibration monitoring based on the vibration information of the solar array in space. The system provides an intelligent test method for flexible space structure with embedded sensors and non-visualization reinstruction. Multiple fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors are packaged and embedded into the structure with spatial division multiplexing (SDM) and wavelength division multiplexing (WDM). The sensor interrogator distinguishes wavelength shifts that can be turned into curvature of the curve. The structure shape is reconstructed based on the curvature information and the arc-length, and then displayed. The experiment shows that the system has a high FBG sensitivity. The reconstruction algorithm is fast with high precision. The system has great potential for use in health monitoring of the space sheet structure.

文摘This paper presents an efficient VLSI architecture of the contest-based adaptive variable length code (CAVLC) decoder with power optimized for the H.264/advanced video coding (AVC) standard. In the proposed design, according to the regularity of the codewords, the first one detector is used to solve the low efficiency and high power dissipation problem within the traditional method of table-searching. Considering the relevance of the data used in the process of runbefore's decoding, arithmetic operation is combined with finite state machine (FSM), which achieves higher decoding efficiency. According to the CAVLC decoding flow, clock gating is employed in the module level and the register level respectively, which reduces 43% of the overall dynamic power dissipation. The proposed design can decode every syntax element in one clock cycle. When the proposed design is synthesized at the clock constraint of 100 MHz, the synthesis result shows that the design costs 11 300 gates under a 0.25 μm CMOS technology, which meets the demand of real time decoding in the H.264/AVC standard.

文摘Robotic unmanned blimps own an enormous potential for applications in low-speed and low-altitude exploration, surveillance, and monitoring, as well as telecommunication relay platforms. To make lighter-than-air platform a robotic blimp with significant levels of autonomy, the decoupled longitude and latitude dynamic model is developed, and the hardware and software of the flight control system are designed and detailed. Flight control and navigation strategy and algorithms for waypoint flight problem are discussed. A result of flight experiment is also presented, which validates that the flight control system is applicable and initial machine intelligence of robotic blimp is achieved.

文摘A novel asymmetrical pitch system for rotary wing is presented. The pitch control characteristics are studied and analyzed. Because elastic linkage is a key part in whole asymmetrical pitch system, in order to obtain the variation of the elastic linkage deformation, an experimental platform mainly based on the device of micro aerial vehicles (MAVs) and a new control system mounted on TMS320LF2407 are designed. This control system has its compacted configuration and reliability. Finally, using this system to control the MAV for simulating the flying forward, experimental results show the MAV's flight attitude can he controlled based on the variation of the elastic linkage.

文摘Aiming at the time redundancy in the fiat panel display (FPD) imaging process, the paper studied some problems for FPD gray scale controlling based on the fraetal theory, dissertates the construction of the space-time mapping topology architecture, the proposition of optimal scanning structure for FPD's gray imaging, and the creation of the fractal theoretic model. Then the logic implementation and system application are presented based on the fraetal model of the optimal scan architecture, and the application results achieved target of eliminating time redundancy and increasing the scanning availability. The novel control mode that the fractal scanning IP core described with Verilog language embedded in the FPGA hardware frame can efficiently increase the imaging gray scales and quality in the FPDs scanning controller and speed up the frame frequency of display system.

文摘The authors have fabricated bottom gate amorphous silicon thin film transistor (a-Si TFT) array using five-step lithography process. The device shows a field effect mobility of 0.43 cm2/(V.s), on/off ratio of 7.5×10^6 and threshold voltage of 0.87 V. The instability of a-Si TFT is ascribed to the defect state in the a-Si channel and SiNx/a-Si interface. The present a-Si TFT array with SiNs insulator could be a significant step towards the commercialization of active matrix organic lighting diode (AM-OLED) technology.

文摘Ion-exchange polymer-metal composite (IPMC) is a new electroactive material. It has large deformation and high force weight ratio in the presence of low voltage (〈1.5 V). In this study a soft actuator known as artificial muscle based on IPMC was prepared. The IPMC actuator is composed of a perfluorinated ion-exchange membrane and platinum plated on both sides of the membrane by chemical means. Experiences and some key points are introduced in preparation of the IPMC. Electromechanical behaviors of the actuator are investigated, Factors related to the actuator performance are discussed.

文摘MV10 is an MCU which consists of PWM, ADC,CAN and some other function blocks. It is designed for car body's control. Advanced peripheral bus (APB) is a low speed AMBA bus connecting low-power peripherals. This paper presents an implementation of APB interface for MV10 MCU. After that, MV10 can be integrated into any AMBA system on chips (SoCs) easily. We have built a multi-core system with ABMA to verify this design, In this system ARM9 is a main processor mounted on AHB and MV10 acts as a low-power and low-speed slaver on APB. Before building this system, some operations are encapsulated into a task with dedicated ID. MV10 works as a co-processor with ARM by acquiring task ID from ARM. The result of simulation indicates that MCU can work well as expected. Based on our design, MV10 can be mounted on any AMBA system from now on.

文摘High frequency ultrasonic nondestructive testing was conducted using a direct contact method for SUS306 stainless steel treated by high temperature and fracture tensile tests. Reflected ultrasonic echoes were analyzed. The relationships between the ultrasonic attenuation coefficient, strength of backscattering wave and the elongation at break of the samples were obtained. The damages were evaluated by using these results together with the analysis of microstructure and mechanics of the tested material.

文摘Hilbert-Huang transform method has been widely utilized from its inception because of the superiority in varieties of areas. The Hilbert spectrum thus obtained is able to reflect the distribution of the signal energy in a number of scales accurately. In this paper, a novel feature called ECC is proposed via feature extraction of the Hilbert energy spectrum which describes the distribution of the instantaneous energy. The experimental results conspicuously demonstrate that ECC outperforms the traditional short-term average energy. Combination of the ECC with mel frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCC) delineates the distribution of energy in the time domain and frequency domain, and the features of this group achieve a better recognition effect compared with the feature combination of the short-term average energy, pitch and MFCC. Afterwards, further improvements of ECC are developed. TECC is gained by combining ECC with the teager energy operator, and EFCC is obtained by introducing the instantaneous frequency to the energy. In the experiments, seven status of emotion are selected to be recognized and the highest recognition rate 83.57% is achieved within the classification accuracy of boredom reaching 100%. The numerical results indicate that the proposed features ECC, TECC and EFCC can improve the performance of speech emotion recognition substantially.
