The Buffering analysis to identify common geographical factors within the vicinity of severe injury related to motor vehicle crash in Malaysia

BACKGROUND:The main objective was to identify common geographical buildup within the100-meter buffer of severely injured based on injury severity score(ISS) among the motor vehicle crash(MVC) victims in Malaysia.METHODS:This was a prospective cohort study from July 2011 until June 2013 and involved all MVC patients attending emergency departments(ED) of two tertiary centers in a district in Malaysia.A set of digital maps was obtained from the Town Planning Unit of the district Municipal Office(local district map).Vector spaces were spanned over these maps using GIS software(ARCGIS 10.1licensed to the study center),and data from the identified severe injured cases based on ISS of 16 or more were added.Buffer analysis was performed and included all events occurring within a 100-meter perimeter around a reference point.RESULTS:A total of 439 cases were recruited over the ten-month data collection period.Fifty two(11%) of the cases were categorized as severe cased based on ISS scoring of 16 and more.Further buffer analysis looking at the buildup areas within the vicinity of the severely injured locations showed that most of the severe injuries occurred at locations on municipal roads(15,29%),straight roads(16,30%) and within villages buildup(suburban) areas(18,35%).CONCLUSION:This study has successfully achieved its objective in identifying common geographical factors and buildup areas within the vicinity of severely injured road traffic cases.

Wetland Ecotourism Development Research-- In the Case of Yinchuan National Wetland Park

Wetland ecotourism is a special form of ecological tourism,and is also an effective way of protecting wetland ecosystem and developing wetland resource.Wetland resources of Yinchuan are rich,and its wetland ecotourism resource condition is very superior.Taking Yinchuan National Wetland Park as the object of empirical study,SWOT analysis is conducted in this paper.By internal and external environmental analysis matrix method,the feasibility of developing wetland tourism in Yinchuan is obtained.Taking"ecological security as the bottom line,ecological culture as the core,and ecological civilization as the goal"as the development ideas,and community participation,policy and fund as the safeguard mechanisms,and improving ecotourism service facility,upgrading tourism product and enriching tourism format as the development ways,ecotourism development model of Yinchuan National Wetland Park is established,in order to realize the sustainable development of wetland ecotourism in Yinchuan.

Research on Impact of Urban System Hierarchy Restructuring upon Spatial Planning

Economy is a major force in determining the hierarchy of urban system. As regional economy globalizes, urban systems in many countries are making their transition from the scale-based hierarchy to the networked system, while that in China still maintains an administrative stratification. The paper discussed the triumph of Baigou Town in the East Baoding Sub-center Campaign. It significantly shattered the administrative hierarchy of the urban system in China, which owes largely to the new type of economical development, i.e. government-led fixed assets investment and real estate development, as demonstrated in the urban expansion. Under the pattern of "territory" logic, spatial planning not only lost efficacy, but also stimulated bottom-up over development in local areas. The paper recommended foreign action- and collaboration-oriented urban planning theories, and that the absolute top-down spatial blueprint planning must be abandoned, and a harmonious synergy of planning roles, work content and methodology be facilitated.

Problems and Countermeasures of Chinese Cultural Communication about the Confucius Institutes in Africa

Chinese cultural communication in Africa has developed quickly under the framework of the Confucius Institutes. The Confucius Institutes in Africa have opened multilevel Chinese classes and held rich and colorful cultural activities. At the moment, however, Chinese cultural communication through the Confucius Institutes in Africa is still confronted with problems, such as the difficult communication environment, lack of local high-level Chinese talents, language and cultural differences, and degree of acceptance. This paper puts forward strategies for Chinese cultural communication: Constructing models with multiple Chinese teaching spots supported by individual Confucius Institutes; strengthening the training of high-level talents for Chinese cultural communications; pushing forward localization of Chinese cultural communications; focusing on the interactivity of language in cultural communications; and establishing a Chinese cultural communication model with multiple subject participation.

College Students’Cognition of Internet Accidental Injury Insurance:A Case Study of Guangdong Province

To explore college students'understanding and satisfaction of internet accidental injury insurance,and to analyse the factors influencing college students'awareness and satisfaction of internet accidental injury insurance.836 college students in Guangdong Province were selected by stratified random sampling.They were investigated with the self-designed questionnaire"College Students'Cognition of Internet Accidental Injury Insurance(CSCIAII)".29.67%,52.18%,10.13%and 8.02%of the college students didn't know,knew a little,knew relatively well and knew very well about internet accidental injury insurance,respectively.The percentage of college students who were very satisfied with the internet accidental injury insurance,thought the internet accidental injury insurance basically met their own needs,think it was acceptable but needed to be improved,did not agree with and were not satisfied with it at all were 9.55%,16.82%,47.73%,11.82%and 14.09%,respectively.College Students’awareness of insurance is weak,and they do not pay enough attention to accidental injury insurance.The design,publicity and sale strategies of internet insurance products may be important factors affecting college students'understanding and satisfaction with internet accidental injury insurance.

The Influence of Blending Learning on Undergraduates’Critical Thinking Disposition:A Quasi Experimental Study

Objective:To explore the influence of blending learning on the critical thinking disposition among undergraduates.Methods:Two undergraduate classes majoring in Applied Psychology with similar level of critical thinking disposition were selected as the research subjects.Class A(106 students)was the experimental class,and class B(131 students)was the control class.During the research period of one semester(four months),the following measures were implemented for the two classes.The control class studied Developmental Psychology under the conventional teaching methods and procedures,while the experimental class studied Developmental Psychology according to the requirements and procedures of blending learning.The two classes were investigated with Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory-Chinese Version(CTDI-CV)at the beginning and end of the course.Results:At the beginning of the course,the total scores of CTDI-CV of the two classes were(217.33±14.90)and(218.31±16.29),respectively,with no significant difference(P>0.05).At the end of the course,the total scores of CTDI-CV of the experimental class and the control class were(237.84±17.53)and(224.22±17.52),respectively,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001).Conclusion:Blending learning may have a positive effect in improving the critical thinking disposition in undergraduates.

The Effect of WeChat Usage on Upward Social Comparison in Undergraduates

To explore the status of undergraduates’WeChat usage and upward social comparison,and analyze the relationship between the above two variables.Totally 754 WeChat undergraduates were selected through poster recruitment from 5 colleges in Guangdong Province.They were investigated with Access Frequency to Social Networking Site Scale(AFSNSS),Upward Social Comparison Subscale of Iowa-Nwtherlands Comparison Orientation Measure(INCOM-USCS).The score of overall emotional engagement(OEE)of AFSNSS and the total standard score of INCOM–USCS(TSSI-U)were(22.41±4.70)and(0±4.5),respectively.The correlation between WeChat frequency and TSSI-U was not significant.TSSI-U was significantly positively correlated with the score of OEE and other items of AFSNSS(r=0.161~0.413,P<0.01).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that The scores of item 1,7and 8 of AFSNSS,as well as family economic status,grade ranking of academic performance(GRAP)and the purpose of WeChat use were postively correlated with TSSI-U(β=.104~.234,P<.05).Class cadre or not and origin were negatively correlated with TSSI-U(β=-.089,-.130,P<.05).Conclusion:It suggests that WeChat usage may be a related factor for undergraduates’upward social comparison.

Psychometric Performance of Learning Burnout Scale for Undergraduates (LBSU) in Guangdong

To analyze the psychometric performance of Learning Burnout Scale for Undergraduates(LBSU)in Guangdong province.LBSU was used to conduct the survey involving 1628 undergraduates who were selected with stratified random sampling from 7 colleges in Guangdong province.Cronbach’sαcoefficient and split-half reliability were used to analyze the internal consistency of the questionnaire.Convergent validity,discriminant validity and factor analysis were used to evaluate its structural validity.Ceiling and floor effect were used to analyze its sensitivity.Cronbach’sαcoefficient of the total questionnaire was 0.89 and cronbach’sαcoefficient of 3 dimensions were 0.73-0.78,which met with the requirements of the group comparison.Spearman-Brown split-half coefficient of the total questionnaire and 3 dimensions were 0.90,0.85,0.81,0.79,respectively,which also met with the requirements of the group comparison.Both the calibration success rate of convergent validity and discriminant validity of each dimension were 100%.Four components obtained from 20 items which cumulative variance contribution rate was 51.924%.The total score and score of each dimension were all normal distribution,without any floor or ceiling effect in dimensions.The psychometric performance of LBSU for assessing undergraduates in Guangdong province is valid and reliable.

Exploring Urban Population Forecasting and Spatial Distribution Modeling with Artificial Intelligence Technology

The high precision population forecasting and spatial distribution modeling are very important for the theory and application of population sociology,city planning and Geo-Informatics.However,the two problems need to be solved for providing the high precision population information.One is how to improve the population forecasting precision of small area(e.g.,street scale);another is how to improve the spatial resolution of urban population distribution model.To solve the two problems,some new methods are proposed in this contribution.(1)To improve the precision of small area population forecasting,a new method is developed based on the fade factor and the slide window.(2)To improve the spatial resolution of urban population distribution model,a new method is proposed based on the land classification,public facility information and the artificial intelligence technology.For validation of the proposed methods,the real population data of 15 streets in Xicheng district,Beijing,China from 2010 to 2016,the remote sensing images and the public facility data are collected and used.A number of experiments are performed.The results show that the spatial resolution of proposed model reaches 30m*30m and the forecasting precision is better than 5%using the proposed method to forecast the population of 15 streets in Xicheng district in the next four years.

Soliton excitations and interaction in alpha helical protein with interspine coupling in modified nonlinear Schrodinger equation

The three-coupling modified nonlinear Schr?dinger(MNLS) equation with variable-coefficients is used to describe the dynamics of soliton in alpha helical protein. This MNLS equation with variable-coefficients is firstly transformed to the MNLS equation with constant-coefficients by similarity transformation. And then the one-soliton and two-soliton solutions of the variable-coefficient-MNLS equation are obtained by solving the constant-coefficient-MNLS equation with Hirota method. The effects of different parameter conditions on the soliton solutions are discussed in detail. The interaction between two solitons is also discussed. Our results are helpful to understand the soliton dynamics in alpha helical protein.

Customer participation in the service encounter

This paper considers the role of service customers in those service encounters where the customer participates in the service production and delivery process, and the customer factors, motivations and incentive mechanism to participate in service delivery are analyzed. This study explores the relationship between service quality and service customer participation in the service encounter and the effect of customer participation on service providers＇ job stress. Finally, the management implications about customer participation in the service encounter from the findings are discussed.

Subjective Well-Being among Empty-Nest Elderly and Its Related Factors:Taking Guangdong Province as an Example

Objective:To explore the the status of happiness and social support of empty nesters in Guangdong Province and analyze the relationship between the above two variables.Method:Totally 1148 empty nesters(776 males,734 females)from 5 cities in Guangdong province are selected by stratified random sampling and conducted with Memorial University of Newfoundland Scale of Happiness(MUNSH),Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS),Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE)and a self-edited questionnaire on the general information.Results:The total score of MUNSH is(10.20±6.37).The total score and the scores of the 3 dimensions of objective support,subject support,the use of support in SSRS are(30.79±5.51),(9.24±2.37),(19.38±4.95)and(9.22±2.15)respectively.Multiple variable linear regression show that are positively associated with the total scores of MUNSH(B=.227,.115,.098,.158,.082,respectively,P<.05).was negatively associated with total score of MUNSH(B=-.097,P<.05).Conclusion:It suggests that the sort of leisure,gender,progress rank,family characteristics,such as family economic condition and father’s career may be related factors of undergraduates life satisfaction.
