By considering the joint effects of the Kelvin-Helmholtz(KH) and Rayleigh-Taylor(RT) instabilities, this paper presents an interpretation of the wavy patterns that occur in explosive welding. It is assumed that the elasticity of the material at the interface effectively determines the wavelength, because explosive welding is basically a solid-state welding process. To this end, an analytical model of elastic hydrodynamic instabilities is proposed, and the most unstable mode is selected in the solid phase. Similar approaches have been widely used to study the interfacial behavior of solid metals in high-energy-density physics. By comparing the experimental and theoretical results, it is concluded that thermal softening,which significantly reduces the shear modulus, is necessary and sufficient for successful welding. The thermal softening is verified by theoretical analysis of the increase in temperature due to the impacting and sliding of the flyer and base plates, and some experimental observations are qualitatively validated.In summary, the combined effect of the KH and RT instabilities in solids determines the wavy morphology, and our theoretical results are in good qualitative agreement with experimental and numerical observations. 展开更多

Since the COVID-19 pandemic was first reported in 2019,it has rapidly spread around the world.Many countries implemented several measures to try to control the virus spreading.The healthcare system and consequently the general quality of life population in the cities have all been significantly impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic.The different waves of contagious were responsible for the increase in the number of cases that,unfortunately,many times lead to death.In this paper,we aim to characterize the dynamics of the six waves of cases and deaths caused by COVID-19 in Rio de Janeiro city using techniques such as the Poincaréplot,approximate entropy,second-order difference plot,and central tendency measures.Our results reveal that by examining the structure and patterns of the time series,using a set of non-linear techniques we can gain a better understanding of the role of multiple waves of COVID-19,also,we can identify underlying dynamics of disease spreading and extract meaningful information about the dynamical behavior of epidemiological time series.Such findings can help to closely approximate the dynamics of virus spread and obtain a correlation between the different stages of the disease,allowing us to identify and categorize the stages due to different virus variants that are reflected in the time series. 展开更多

Nanocrystalline yttrium vanadate doped with europium ions powders were synthesized via sol-gel method based on decomposition of metal-polymer complex. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that samples had pure tetragonal phase without any impurities. Scanning electron microscopy and static light scattering technique were used to study morphology and size of prepared nanoparticles. Average diameter of the nanoparticles was about 40 nm. The changes in structural and luminescence properties were observed as a function of the first and second calcination temperature. The optimal conditions for synthesis of nanoparticles were determined as Т1=500℃, t1=1 h; Т2=950 ℃, t2=1.5 h. The effect of different media surrounding the nanoparticles on their luminescence properties and lifetime was investigated and discussed in terms of effective refractive index. It was found that the observed lifetime of YVO4:Eu^3+ 5 at.% nanophosphor was decreased from 0.64 ms in air(nmed=1) to 0.45 ms in chalcogenide glass As39S61(nmed=2.39). 展开更多

Recent monitoring techniques employ multiple sources of information for the characterization of the phenomenon to be studied, being the coupling and adjustment of multi-source data one of the first challenges to consider and solve. The authors propose a new framework of the multi-source and multi-temporal data-oriented fusion for the characterization of landslide events. The main objective is to generate 3D virtual models(in the form of dense point clouds) and feed them back with the characteristic of soil and subsoil information. The scheme consists of three main steps. The first one is on-site data collection(geological characterization, geophysical measurements, GPS measurements, and UAV/drone mapping). The second step is generation of a high-resolution 3D virtual model(~1-inch spatial resolution) from the frames acquired through the UAV using the structure of motion(SfM) processing;the developed virtual model is optimized with GPS measurements to minimize geolocation error and eliminate distortions. The last step is assembling of the acquired data in the field and densified point cloud considering the different nature of the data, re-escalating procedure and the information stacking layer. 展开更多

Eu3+-doped MgAl2O4 nanoparticles were prepared by modified Pechini method.X-ray diffraction analysis shows pure tetragonal spinel phase without any impurities.The average size of synthesized nanoparticles was determined to be about 50-60 nm using scanning electron microscopy and static light scattering techniques.Emission and excitation spectra as well as lifetimes of MgAl2O4:Eu3+ nanophosphors were explored in surrounding media with different refractive indexes.Surrounding medium does not affect luminescence bands position,whereas 5D0 lifetime monotonically decreases along with increase of medium refractive index.Effect of surrounding media on radiative and nonradiative decay rates,which were calculated using 4f-4f intensity theory,was studied and discussed.Filling factor of prepared nanoparticles is defined using both radiative and observed lifetimes. 展开更多

Due to the unique luminescent properties, Eu^3+ ions can be used as a structural probe. In this paper, effect of doping concentration,excitation wavelength and excitation mechanism on asymmetry ratio was systematically studied using Y3Al5O12:Eu^3+, YVO4:Eu^3+ and Y2O3:Eu^3+nanophosphors. The asymmetry ratio gives information about the local surrounding and environmental changes around the Eu^3+ ions. Asymmetry ratios of YAG:Eu^3+and YVO4:Eu^3+ nanopowders were calculated using standard technique and the obtained average values were found to be 0.75 and 8.2, respectively. However, it is found that standard method of asymmetry ratio calculation is suitable only for samples where all Eu^3+ ions occupy one site. The "multisite model" of asymmetry ratio calculation was developed and used for Y2O3:Eu^3+ nanocrystalline powders. Average value of asymmetry ratio for Eu^3+ ions occupied "normal" sites is 6.0 and for Eu^3+ ions occupied "defect"sites is 2.3. 展开更多
