Most cities in China have experienced dramatic changes during the systematic progress of modernization and commercialization. Rebuilding residential space into heritage preservation is popular in Chinese urban planning. Yearning for modernity generates a policy of cultural protection which is transformed by the public spaces within which people carry out daily lives. However, heritage preservation in these cities is in a dilemma. On side, with the opening up, Chinese society toward modernization has been accompanied by large-scale urbanization, rapid commercialization and a booming consumerism. The Chinese capital has forced people to face the challenge of urban environment management and adaptation to a new city. The traditional streets in big cities are destroyed first and then rebuilt to turn the capital into an international metropolis. On the other side, heritage protection needs its historical roots as the authentic cultural features. To some extent, the process of urban landscaping stimulates people＇s nostalgia tie. Although it seems to be individual, it is also a link of one＇s historical memory of sentiment with the development of social construction. Hence, collective urban nostalgia that emerged through the rebuilding of heritage in urban China can promote nationalism from the governmental perspective. Further, it can also lead people face the life itself but neglect the social tensions around them. Meanwhile, rebuilding mode of Longtang also elaborates the power structure existing among state, capital, intellectuals.

This paper reviews the evolving foreign language education policies and their interaction with the development of the multimedia education and information technology in China since the 1920 s.Major national foreign language education policies have been cited to analyze their emergence in the multimedia context and their influences on foreign language education.Studies show that foreign language education in China has experienced several ups and downs throughout these years.The policy-making and the education practices maintain a dynamic balance between each other.

Measurement of International Competitiveness of Clothing Industry under the Background of Value Chain Reconstruction

Relying on cheap labor cost advantage,China is locked in the low-end processing link of the global value chain and obtains a lower profit share.With the deepening of the international division of labor,changes in the distribution of national interests and the spread of anti-globalization in some developed countries,the global value chain is undergoing a new round of large-scale reconstruction and emerging economies are trying to penetrate and extend to the high end of the global value chain.Based on the theory of industrial upgrading and global value chain,this paper focuses on the current development of Chinese apparel industry,the mechanism,development and problems of global value chain reconstruction,analyzes the relevant elements in the apparel industry value chain reconstruction,and proposes the application of data envelopment analysis(DEA)competitiveness model in the value chain reconstruction of apparel enterprises.We use the CCR(C2R)model to simulate the improvement of production efficiency.Finally,we put forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions for the value chain reconstruction from the perspective of improving product competitiveness.

A Review of Studies on Sino-Vietnam Relations Under Tributary System(AD 968-1885)

For a long time,the concept“Nei Wai(内外―center-periphery)”has been used to construct the narrative of the backwarded pre-modern East Asian history.While over emphasizing the effect of the center(Nei),it just simply ignored the reactions from the marginal entities(Wai),as ancient China and its neighboring countries’tributary relations could offer us the classic paradigm.In the knowledge world and historical writing records before the establishment of the national states,the period after Vietnam politically independent to China,the most intricate relations between the two countries,or dynasties,we could still find so many similarities of politics and culture in China and Vietnam,which is far beyond the summarized conditions as tributary relations.On the basis of the previous academic construction of Zong Fan relations and applying the research path of decentralization in the view of global history,we can explore and interpret such tributary and diplomatic relations from various perspectives and thus a multi-dimensional,high definition and colorful past of communications between countries is projected to us by the voiceless,motionless,and monotone historical materials.

China＇ s Security Measures for 2010 Shanghai World Expo： A Retrospect

The security threats to Shanghai World Expo were multi-faceted, ranging from terrorist threat to ethnic separatist threat, from foreign diplomatic and political disputes to domestic mass disturbances as well as serious social crimes The first was from terrorist threat, and the global Jihad network in Eurasia was looming in the early 21st century, which was guided by radical ideologies; the second threat was from ethnic separatist groups; the third threat was related with foreign personnel and diplomats＇ security; the fourth threat was from mass disturbances, and the fifth was from serious social crimes. China＇s measures to these potential multi-faceted challenges were serious and various, including preventing terrorist attacks through international cooperation, lessening ethnic separatists＇ dissatisfaction and avoiding possible mass demonstration, reducing the chance of domestic mass disturbances, guaranteeing public transportation and aerospace security, making extensive use of advanced technologies and referring to other countries＇ expertise in security check, seeking help from other provinces bordering Shanghai, and strengthening control over explosive materials, etc.. Nevertheless, the efficacy of the above-mentioned countermeasures was problematic, for they were more defensive than offensive, more passive than proactive, and more tactical than strategic.

The Belt and Road Initiatives and China＇s International Energy Cooperation： Progress, Mechanisms, and Recommendations

China＇s international energy cooperation and energy security are important parts of The Belt and Road initiatives. China and the countries along the Belt and Road continue to promote cooperation, actively use the existing bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms to promote the regional and inter-regional energy cooperation. Countries along the Belt and Road are rich in oil and gas resources; their demand on the diversification of export meet with the diversification demand on imports of consumption countries; and their oil refining and chemical technology as well as construction capacity is weak, which provides a lot of new opportunities in cooperation for Chinese enterprises. However, the energy cooperation of Chinese enterprises are also facing some challenges in the complex environment of energy cooperation, the interference of big powers, non-traditional security threats, and energy policy factors. Finally, the paper puts forward the strategic thinking of China＇s international energy cooperation under the new situation.

Reform of China’s IPO Mechanism: Enhancing Efficiency and Optimizing the Market Ecosystem

A well-developed financial market system is crucial for supporting high-quality development in the new era.Initial Public Offerings(IPOs)are essential for enabling financial markets to facilitate new industrialization while accelerating the development of a manufacturing powerhouse.Therefore,research on IPO mechanism reform holds significant practical implications.This paper examines the impact of China’s IPO mechanism reform by studying the equilibrium relationship between the primary market and the lending market.Using empirical analysis,we compare the average return on online subscriptions for newly listed shares using the risk-free rate before and after China’s 2015 IPO mechanism reform,as well as analyze the underlying mechanisms driving excess returns during both periods.Our findings indicate a gradual alignment of returns in the primary and lending markets,with institutional arbitrage opportunities between them diminishing.The reforms have effectively enhanced market mechanisms,improved pricing capabilities,rationalized participant behavior,and optimized the securities market ecosystem.These improvements have contributed to the market’s equilibrium and enhanced the market’s ability to interpret information.However,further improvements to the IPO mechanism are necessary,including deeper market-oriented reforms,standardization of participant behavior,acceleration of a comprehensive registration system,and stronger information disclosure and quality management.

Outcomes of the effect of exercise on cognitive function in patients with depression:A meta-analysis

BACKGROUND Major depressive disorder is a common mental disorder,characterized by a high rate of suicide and recurrence,which is frequently accompanied by cognitive impairments,particularly in executive function,memory,attention,and infor-mation processing speed.As such,improving the cognitive function in patients with depression and enhancing their quality of life are urgent issues.AIM To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of the effects of exercise on cognitive function in patients with depression.METHODS The PubMed,Web of Science,Cochrane Library,Embase,China National Knowledge Infrastructure,Wanfang Medical,VIP,and Biomedical Databases for randomized controlled trials(RCTs)databases were searched(from inception to October 19,2023)for studies investigating improvements in cognitive function in patients with depression through exercise.Tools recommended by the Cochrane Handbook for RCT evaluation,and GRADEpro and Stata17 software,were employed for risk of bias assessment,evidence grading,forest plot construction,subgroup and sensitivity analyses,and assessment of publication bias.RESULTS Seventeen RCTs(1173 patients with depression)were included.Exercise had a small but significant positive effect on attention,with an effect size of 0.21,95%CI:0.07-0.34,P<0.01.Specifically,aerobic exercise regimens of 30-60 minute/session,thrice a week,at moderate intensity,and sustained over 3-12 weeks,were associated with the most pronounced benefits(P<0.05),with effect sizes for executive function,memory,and information processing speed of 0.11,95%CI:-0.11-0.32,P=0.34;0.08,95%CI:0.00-0.16,P=0.05;and 0.14,95%CI:0.04-0.25,P=0.01,respectively.The evidence levels for attention,information processing speed,and memory were rated as'low,’whereas that for executive function was rated as'very low’.CONCLUSION Exercise could improve attention and information-processing speed in patients with depression,although improvements in executive function and memory are not significant.

Cultural heritage and protection is an important part of rural revitalization.Chongming district is a place with special geographical advantages and historical and natural resources in Shanghai.However,after recent investigations,it is found that the cultural heritage and protection of local traditional architecture in Chongming has not been adequately researched.This paper is based on the analysis and abstract of the traditional architectural design elements of Chongming,combined with renewal design projects,hoping to summarize the public space renewal design strategies in Chongming countryside with the characteristics of Chongming,and providing certain reference value to relevant research or design projects in the future.

Affordance Derivation Facilitates the Semantic Access in Comprehending Chinese Puns

The study employed ERP technique to explore whether the affordance derivation can facilitate semantic access in comprehending Chinese puns. ERPs were measured while participants read the pun sentences containing dual meanings and made a judgement about the following probes and statements. The results showed that highly related probes in pun sentences elicited a smaller N400 and a larger LPC than moderately related probes in pun sentences. As for the comparison of sentence types, both highly and moderately related probes in pun sentences produce a smaller N400 and a larger LPC than those in control sentences. These results indicate that in the early stage of pun comprehension, semantic access to the literal meaning is easier through affordance derivation because of meaning dominance and frequency. In the late stage of integration, however,the intended meaning of puns can be facilitated and accessed through its privilege of affordance derivation activated by pun words in a pun context because of the priming context and its underlying intention. The study has discovered empirically that it is the affordance derivation,which connects the context and the dual meanings indicated by the pun words, that contributes to the different time courses and dynamic underlying neurocognitive mechanisms in comprehending puns in Chinese.

Customer Tiered Purchase Forecast by Mobile Edge Computing Based on Pareto/NBD and SVR

Mobile edge computing is trending nowadays for its computation efficiency and privacy.The rapid development of e-commerce show great interest in mobile edge computing due to numerous rise of small and middle-sized enterprises(SMEs)in the internet.This paper predicts the overall sales volume of the enterprise through the classic ARIMA model,and notes that the behavior and arrival differences between the new and old customer groups will affect the accuracy of our forecasts,so we then use Pareto/NBD to explore the repeated purchases of customers at the individual level of the old customer and the SVR model to predict the arrival of new customers,thus helping the enterprise to make layered and accurate marketing of new and old customers through machine learning.In general,machine learning relies on powerful computation and storage resources,while mobile edge computing typically provides limited computation resources locally.Therefore,it is essential to combine machine learning with mobile edge computing to further promote the proliferation of data analysis among SMEs.
