Self-Compassion Moderates the Effect of Contingent Self-Esteem on Well-Being:Evidence from Cross-Sectional Survey and Experiment

Contingent self-esteem captures the fragile nature of self-esteem and is often regarded as suboptimal to psychological functioning.Self-compassion is another important self-related concept assumed to promote mental health and well-being.However,research on the relation of self-compassion to contingent self-esteem is lacking.Two studies were conducted to explore the role of selfcompassion,either as a personal characteristic or an induced mindset,in influencing the effects of contingent self-esteem on well-being.Study 1 recruited 256 Chinese college students(30.4%male,mean age=21.72 years)who filled out measures of contingent self-esteem,self-compassion,and well-being.The results found that self-compassion moderated the effect of contingent self-esteem on well-being.In Study 2,a sample of 90 Chinese college students(34%male,mean age=18.39 years)were randomly assigned to either a control or self-compassion group.They completed baseline trait measures of contingent self-esteem,self-compassion,and self-esteem.Then,they were led to have a 12-min break(control group)or listen to a 12-min self-compassion audio(self-compassion group),followed by a social stress task and outcome measures.The results demonstrated the effectiveness of the brief self-compassion training and its moderating role in influencing the effects of contingent self-esteem on negative affects after the social stress task.This research provides implications that to equip with a self-compassionate mindset could lower the risk of the impairment of well-being associated with elements of contingent selfesteem,which involves a fragile sense of self-worth.It may also provide insights into the development of an“optimal selfesteem”and the improvement of well-being.

Intrapreneurship can be developed in small and medium-sized enterprises where entrepreneurs have a sufficient level of creativity and it can influence the growth of enterprises. Hypotheses are specified and empirically tested based on responses to a structured questionnaire on a sample of small and medium-sized enterprises from China. The research results indicate positive relationships between the creativity of the entrepreneur and intrapreneurship and growth of the enterprise.

Identity Transformation of China through the Anti-Monopoly Law Penalty on Japanese Automotive Parts and Bearings Enterprises

The identity transformation of China is analyzed through the legal punishment given by China＇s National Development and Reform Commission on Japanese automotive parts and bearings enterprises that broke China＇s Monopoly Law by price- fixing in the automotive parts market of China for more than ten years. The standards for illegal conduction this penalty based are the international Cartel rules, the specific legal procedure is beyond the main concern of this study so the obscurity of how this penalty decided is kept aside for the sake of respecting the painstaking labor fruits of relevant executive departments as well as for dispensing political sensitivity related to any academic analysis developed. Three Japanese newspaper reports concerning this penalty fine are selected for critical discourse analysis. Emotional ambience of them is derogative, neutral, and approving respectively. Foucault＇s triad relationship of discourse-power-identity is borrowed and the postmodernists＇ view of the ＂other＂ is corroborated with the self-presentation of China. Positive self-presentation is underscored by the contrast of negative other-presentation and vice versa, the negative commendation on this punishment event revealed in certain news coverage is to lessen the negative image of Japanese enterprises because of their shared Japanese identity. However their fundamental tone maybe, the fact that China evolves to be able to handle the illegal international events in its confines with dignity is tacitly recognized as a warning in three newspapers. The new identity of China is thus highlighted as the role of the other by the Japanese media. The reason why Japanese accept it instead of staging substantial resistance is analyzed from the Japanese cultural considerations of the hierarchical sequence or the ＂weizhiyishi＂ （positional consciousness or postural consciousness）, and the practical reasons of why Hitachi and Nachi commit self-confession is analyzed. All these responses from Japanese side are the manifestation of China＇s being in charge of the situation, it has the ball at its feet in this power gaming.

Based on the translated version of“The Root Cause of Poverty”by Rutger Bregman on the Ted speech online platform,this research analyzes the application of direct borrowing,imitative translation and creative translation in English-Chinese translation.First,we believe the direct borrowing of a ready-made version is most ideal as it reveals the common ground both languages share when translating a source text.Next,it is preferable to imitate an already existing expression as similarity is reader-friendly.However,it is sometimes necessary to adopt creative translation to preserve differences to ensure that the meaning of the original language is accurately transmitted.

Accounting for interaction in language test validation:Applying the competition-mediation-moderation(CMM)approach to enhance the transparency of test score interpretation

Interaction in language ability refers to the exchange of information across different predictors of language ability in determining language test performance.Although interaction has long been claimed to be an essential mechanism in the construct of language ability and language test validation,systematic investigations into this issue are rare in language testing research.The current study revisited the concept of interaction in language testing and proposes the competition-mediation-moderation(CMM)approach for inquiry in language test validation to enhance the transparency of test score interpretation.As a demonstration,the paper used Test for English Majors Grade Four(TEM4)data and tested the interaction between vocabulary and grammar in predicting L2 reading performance.The results showed:1)grammar played a dominant role in predicting TEM4 reading performance,2)grammar fully mediated the effect of vocabulary on TEM4 reading performance,and 3)vocabulary did not moderate the effect of grammar on TEM4 reading performance.The paper has theoretical and methodological implications for language testing research as well as practical implications for language test preparation.

Mixed Integer Robust Programming Model for Multimodal Fresh Agricultural Products Terminal Distribution Network Design

The low efficiency and high cost of fresh agricultural product terminal distribution directly restrict the operation of the entire supply network.To reduce costs and optimize the distribution network,we construct a mixed integer programmingmodel that comprehensively considers tominimize fixed,transportation,fresh-keeping,time,carbon emissions,and performance incentive costs.We analyzed the performance of traditional rider distribution and robot distribution modes in detail.In addition,the uncertainty of the actual market demand poses a huge threat to the stability of the terminal distribution network.In order to resist uncertain interference,we further extend the model to a robust counterpart form.The results of the simulation show that the instability of random parameters will lead to an increase in the cost.Compared with the traditional rider distribution mode,the robot distribution mode can save 12.7%on logistics costs,and the distribution efficiency is higher.Our research can provide support for the design of planning schemes for transportation enterprise managers.
