An increasing number of researchers have researched fixture layout optimization for thin-walled part assembly during the past decades. However, few papers systematically review these researches.By analyzing existing literature, this paper summarizes the process of fixture layout optimization and the methods applied. The process of optimization is made up of optimization objective setting, assembly variation/deformation modeling, and fixture layout optimization. This paper makes a review of the fixture layout for thin-walled parts according to these three steps.First, two different kinds of optimization objectives are introduced.Researchers usually consider in-plane variations or out-of-plane deformations when designing objectives. Then, modeling methods for assembly variation and deformation are divided into two categories:Mechanism-based and data-based methods.Several common methods are discussed respectively. After that, optimization algorithms are reviewed systematically. There are two kinds of optimization algorithms:Traditional nonlinear programming and heuristic algorithms. Finally, discussions on the current situation are provided. The research direction of fixture layout optimization in the future is discussed from three aspects:Objective setting, improving modeling accuracy and optimization algorithms. Also,a new research point for fixture layout optimization is discussed. This paper systematically reviews the research on fixture layout optimization for thin-walled parts, and provides a reference for future research in this field. 展开更多

There are lots of researches on fixture layout optimization for large thin-walled parts.Current researches focus on the positioning problem,i.e.,optimizing the positions of a constant number of fixtures. However, how to determine the number of fixtures is ignored. In most cases, the number of fixtures located on large thin-walled parts is determined based on engineering experience, which leads to huge fixture number and extra waste. Therefore, this paper constructs an optimization model to minimize the number of fixtures. The constraints are set in the optimization model to ensure that the part deformation is within the surface profile tolerance. In addition, the assembly gap between two parts is also controlled. To conduct the optimization, this paper develops an improved particle swarm optimization(IPSO)algorithm by integrating the shrinkage factor and adaptive inertia weight. In the algorithm, particles are encoded according to the fixture position. Each dimension of the particle is assigned to a sub-region by constraining the optional position range of each fixture to improve the optimization efficiency. Finally,a case study on ship curved panel assembly is provided to prove that our method can optimize the number of fixtures while meeting the assembly quality requirements. This research proposes a method to optimize the number of fixtures, which can reduce the number of fixtures and achieve deformation control at the same time. 展开更多

Herein,we develop cost-efficient superhigh-performance of engineering carbonaceous adsorbent from cigarette butts using combined wet-impregnated and re-dispersed method of KOH,which optimizes the implant approach of activator, breaking the restriction of selective capture of toluene using traditional activated carbon. The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)surface area and pore volume of targeted adsorbent can attain 3088 m^(2)·g^(-1) and 1.61 cm^(3)·g^(-1),respectively,by optimizing the temperaturedependent synthetic factor effect of the adsorbent. The adsorption capacity of resultant adsorbent for presenting volatile benzene and toluene shows a positive correlation with increasing carbonization temperature of carbon precursor.Besides,we demonstrated the unsmoked and smoked butts derived adsorbents afford feeble difference in saturated adsorbed capacity of volatile organic compounds(VOCs).The highest adsorption capacity of sample CF-800 for benzene and toluene in CF group is as high as 1268.1 and 1181.6 mg·g^(-1) respectively, slightly higher than that of sample UF-800,but far outperforming reported other adsorbents. The predicted adsorption selectivity of CF-800 and UF-800 for C_(7)H_(8)/H_(2)O(g)using the DIH(difference of isosteric heats)equation reach up to ca.3800 and 7500 respectively, indicating the weak adsorbability of water vapor on the developed adsorbent and greater superiority of the smoked butts derived adsorbents in selective capture of VOCs at low relative humidity in the competitive adsorption process for practical mixed VOCs. 展开更多

Vortex-shedding flow induced by the vertical oscillation of a cylinder with bottom-attached disks of different diameter ratio Dd/Dc and thickness ratio td/Dc is studied by a 3D (three-dimensional) numerical model developed in this paper, and compared with the results obtained through 2D (two-dimensional) numerical model. The high-order upwind scheme is applied to stabilize the computation, and convergence is accelerated by the multi-grid method. Qualitative and quantitative analyses of the differences between the 2D and 3D simulation results reveal the 3D effect on the flow field characteristics and hydrodynamic coefficients of the vertically oscillating cylinder with a bottom-attached disk. The 3D effect on the fluid field is mainly reflected in the significance of three vortex-shedding patterns: ωx has a greater effect on the flow fields around the sharp edges relative to the vortices generated in the 2D simulation. In the slice along the axial orientation, the vortex effect of ωy along the radial axis is smaller than that of ωx along the circumferential direction, indicating the radial effect on the velocity more pronounced than the circumferential effect around the sharp edges of the disk. The rotational interaction ωz of the fluid in the horizontal plane during the heave motion is insignificant. Based on the 2D and 3D simulation results, the turning points that separate the increasing regimes of the added mass coefficient and damping ratio are identified. The dependence of the turning point on the diameter ratio Dd/Dc and thickness ratio td/Dc are discussed in detail. 展开更多

The process of low-velocity water entry is utilized on a large scale for the military and engineering purposes. However, there are rarely systematic experimental investigations into the low-velocity water entry of cylinder structure for reference. In order to obtain typical phenomena and relevant laws, we design a set of experimental facilities with adjustable parameters and better repeatability to study this process with a high-speed photography system. The influences of cylinder radius, initial velocity and entry angle on the process of lowvelocity water entry are tested. Results show that six typical phases exist in this process: structure submersion, necking, cavity formation, cavity abscission, spray at the free surface and jet formation. Three factors mentioned above are key parameters and influence the process in different degrees, and some laws obtained in this paper have a reasonable agreement with the theoretical results. Our results provide references for the relevant numerical researches and engineering applications. 展开更多
