The focus of this study is to analyze the popularity of the vampire films or TV series by taking The Vampire Diaries for exam-ple.The tool used to carry out the research included a questionnaire and functional analysi...The focus of this study is to analyze the popularity of the vampire films or TV series by taking The Vampire Diaries for exam-ple.The tool used to carry out the research included a questionnaire and functional analysis approach.The main purpose of the question-naire is to find the reasons why so many people like the vampire films or TV series.Based on Jackie Stacey's three discourses-escap-ism,identification,and consumerism,the analysis of the results showed that through this kind of TV experience,people could feel re-laxed and happy in the rapidly developed society when they enjoy the escape fantasy and get some comfort that cannot get in the reality,also the plight people suffered that vampire has gone through is also the same as the human beings did in the reality.When they watchthis TV series,they can find a self in the episodes;and for the popularity of the The Vampire Diaries,the businessmen catch the fans' psychology,so there is a dazzling array of beautiful exhibits about The Vampire Diaries.展开更多
