We show how the star formation activity of galaxies is progressively inhibited from the outer region to the center of the massive cluster A2142.From an extended spectroscopic redshift survey of 2239 galaxies covering a circular area of radius~11 Mpc from the cluster center,we extract a sample of 333 galaxies with known stellar mass,star formation rate,and spectral index D_(n)4000.We use the Blooming Tree algorithm to identify the substructures of the cluster and separate the galaxy sample into substructure galaxies,halo galaxies,and outskirt galaxies.The substructure and halo galaxies are cluster members,whereas the outskirt galaxies are only weakly gravitationally bound to the cluster.For the cluster members,the star formation rate per stellar mass decreases with decreasing distance R from the cluster center.Similarly,the spectral index D_(n)4000 increases with R,indicating an increasing average age of the stellar population in galaxies closer to the cluster center.In addition,star formation in substructure galaxies is generally more active than in halo galaxies and less active than in outskirt galaxies,proving that substructures tend to slow down the transition between field galaxies and cluster galaxies.We finally show that most actively star-forming galaxies are within the cluster infall region,whereas most galaxies in the central region are quiescent. 展开更多

Terahertz atmospheric windows for high angular resolution terahertz astronomy from Dome A

Atmospheric transmission from Dome A, Antarctica, presents new possibilities in the field of terahertz astronomy, where space telescopes have been the only observational tools until now. Using atmospheric transmission measurements from Dome A with a Fourier transform spectrometer, transmission spectra and long-term stabilities have been analyzed at 1.461 THz, 3.393 THz, 5.786 THz and 7.1 THz, which show that important atmospheric windows for terahertz astronomy open for a reasonable length of time in the winter season. With large aperture terahertz telescopes and interferometers at Dome A, high angular resolution terahertz observations are foreseen of atomic fine-structure lines from ionized gas and a water ice feature from protoplanetary disks. 展开更多

大气传输导致的PM;跨界输送会引起重大的跨境健康影响.在过去几十年间,各区域人为源污染物排放发生了巨大且不同的变化,但是,由此产生的全球跨界健康影响及其中隐含的健康不平等性问题仍不清楚.本研究发现,在1950~2014年间,全球人为源PM... 大气传输导致的PM;跨界输送会引起重大的跨境健康影响.在过去几十年间,各区域人为源污染物排放发生了巨大且不同的变化,但是,由此产生的全球跨界健康影响及其中隐含的健康不平等性问题仍不清楚.本研究发现,在1950~2014年间,全球人为源PM_(2.5)累计导致了1.86(95%CI:1.16~2.56)亿例过早死亡,其中约14%是跨界PM;所致.在四个不同富裕程度的地区中,从对跨界PM;过早死亡的人均贡献的角度来说,越富裕的地区所造成的累计跨界健康影响越严重,而最贫穷的地区承受着最严重的跨界健康负担.这意味着,大气输送所造成的跨界健康影响不平等性问题十分严峻.并且,跨界健康效应及其不平等性随时间的变化也十分显著.降低PM;跨界污染需要全球紧密合作,而合作的基础应当将历史责任以及健康不平等性问题考虑在内. 展开更多
