For Purpose 1,the players(n = 17) and the untrained(n = 24) boys were tested for speed, jumping power, postural balance, flexibility, and aerobic capacity. After baseline testing, Purposes 2 and 3 were addressed by randomly assigning the untrained boys to either a soccer-training group(small-sided games,2 sessions per week for 8 weeks) or to a control group, followed by identical retesting. Results: At baseline, physical fitness was higher(p < 0.001) in trained players than in untrained for aerobic fitness, sprinting, jumping power, and postural balance. Small-sided games using 6 v 6 or 4 v 4 elicited similar heart rate(HR)(mean: ~ 85% peak heart rate, HR_(peak)), rate of perceived exertion, and enjoyment responses. Over 8 weeks, the between-group analysis revealed that soccer training had a large beneficial effect on postural balance(45%) when compared with control group with unclear effects on other fitness parameters. Conclusion: Adolescent soccer players had markedly higher physical fitness compared with untrained adolescents. Small-sided soccer games practiced by untrained adolescents elicited high exercise intensity. While 8 weeks of twice-weekly soccer training sessions induced significant improvement in postural balance, the short duration of the study was not sufficient to result in between-group differences in sprint and jump performance or aerobic fitness.展开更多

At the time of its compiling, the spread of Yersinia pestis, often causing septicaemia and gangrene of the extremities, may have discouraged doctors to come in direct contact with their patients and take the pulse. However, in recent decades, modern developments in the field of traditional Chinese medicine, as well as the spread of antibiotics in conjunction with the advancements of microbiology, have overshadowed the original purpose of this methodology. Nevertheless, the fast approaching post-antibiotic era and the development of artificial intelligence may hold new applications for tongue diagnosis. This article focuses on the historical development of what is the world's earliest tongue diagnosis monograph, and discusses the directions that such knowledge may be used in future clinical research.展开更多

Methods: A total of 30 gymnasts were randomized into two groups. After intensive physical training, 15 cases in the treatment group were treated by mild moxibustion and cupping, whereas the other 15 cases in the control group took a 30-rain break. After that, the Creatine Kinase (CK), Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN), routine urinalysis, Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE) and changes in Self-report Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) were observed before and after one and periodic exercises. Results: After intensive physical training, athletes in the treatment group obtained a faster recovery of elevated CK levels than those in the control group. Analysis on the SCL-90 has shown that athletes in the treatment group had better interpersonal relations than those in the control group. Additionally, RPE analysis has also indicated that athletes in the treatment group had milder fatigue than those in the control group. Conclusion: Combined moxibustion with cupping is an effective and easy-to-operate method for exercise-induced fatigue.展开更多

The treatment group received electroacupuncture + massage +blocking therapy, while the control group received blocking therapy only. A course of electroacupuncture treatment included therapy once a day for 10days. There were 10 treatments in a massage course and massage was given once a day, with a1-week interval given before the next course. A course of blocking treatment included therapy once a week, for twototaltreatments, andgenerallyno more than three times. The therapeutic effects were evaluated with the visual analog scale(VAS),grip strength index(GSI) score, and Mayo elbow performance score(MEPS) before treatment and at0, 6, 12, and 24 months after treatment to observe thetotaleffectiverate.RESULTS: In the treatment and control groups before treatment and at 0, 6, 12, and 24 months after treatment, the VAS scores were: 6.5±1.9 and 6.4±1.6; 4.6±1.3 and 4.6±1.7; 4.8±1.3 and 4.8±1.2; 4.6±1.2 and 6.6±1.6; and 6.5±1.6 and 6.5±1.3, respectively. The GSI scores were 63±8 and 63±8; 84±6and82±7;82±7and82±6;84±6and62±8;and64±6 and 64±7, respectively. The MEPS of both groups were65±7and66±8;85±6and84±7;84±5and84±7;80±7and66±6;and65±6and65±7,respectively.The total effective rates of the treatment and control groups at 0, 6, 12, and 24 months after treatment were 87.5% and 85.0%; 85.0% and 82.5%;80.0% and 12.5%; and 2.5% and 5.0%, respectively.Compared with the treatment group, the control group had greater joint function, better the rapeutic effect, and lower pain intensity(P<0.01), indicating a high recurrence rate in the 12th month after treatment. There were no differences inVAS, GSI, or MEPS at 0, 6, and 24 months after treatment(P>0.05)betweenthetwogroups.CONCLUSION: We found that both methods were effective for external humeral epicondylitis. After 6months of treatment, the effects were good in both groups. However, in the 12th month, the control group had a relatively severe relapse. After 24months, both groups relapsed. The effect of electroacupuncture, massage, and blocking therapy used in combination lasted longer, delaying the recurrence of the disease.展开更多

The estimated risk of ICH in DBS surgery reportedly varies from 0.2% to 5.6%.[1-3] ICH may develop at one of two sites depending on the puncture tract: (1) in the basal ganglia or target area or (2) in the puncture channel or cortex area. However, venous infarction in association with DBS surgery has rarely been described.[4-6]展开更多

文摘1.Introduction Physical inactivity has been identified as the fourth leading risk factor for global mortality.~1Globally,it accounts for about6%of deaths,21%–25%of breast and colon cancers,27%of diabetes, and 30%of ischemic heart disease.~1In China, the economic costs of health diseases due to physical inactivity had reached 6.7 billion US dollars in 2007,which accounted
文摘Muscle injuries remain one of the most common injuries in sport, yet despite this, there is little consensus on how to either effectively describe or determine the prognosis of a specific muscle injury.Numerous approaches to muscle classification and grading of medicine have been applied over the last century, but over the last decade the limitations of historic approaches have been recognized. As a consequence,in the past 10 years, clinical research groups have begun to question the historic approaches and reconsider the way muscle injuries are classified and described.Using a narrative approach, this manuscript describes several of the most recent attempts to classify and grade muscle injuries and highlights the relative strengths and weaknesses of each system. While each of the new classification and grading systems have strengths, there remains little consensus on a system that is both comprehensive and evidence based.Few of the currently identified features within the grading systems have relevance to accurately determining prognosis.
文摘The purpose of this paper is to think about the relationship between the thought of treating the disease of the Chinese medicine and preventing the subhealth.By discussing the connotation of traditional Chinese medicine and the concept of contemporary sub-health,it is considered that the prevention and cure of sub-health is the main category of"preventive treatment of disease".Both have different approaches but equally satisfactory results, while the Chinese use their own unique advantages, the clinical symptoms of Sub-health with personalized regulation and preventive effect, and opens up a new idea for clinical prevention and treatment of sub-health state.

文摘Chinese herbs have been used as dietary supplements to improve exercise performance.However,evidence-based studies for the use of Chinese herbs in sports remain scarce.Traditional Chinese therapy(TCT),a form of traditional Chinese non-pharmacological intervention, has remained in use for thousands of years in sports medicine.TCT is beneficial for sports injuries and in enhancing skill development, and is becoming increasingly popular among athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and individuals who regularly exercise. The therapeutic effects of TCT have been demonstrated by clinical and experimental studies, but using these modalities still is associate with potentially adverse effects.Further well-designed studies are necessary to confirm the efficacy of TCT in sports medicine. This review aims to summarize the application of TCT,discuss the issues surrounding TCT clinical research, and provide suggestions for applying traditional Chinese methods in the field of sports medicine.
文摘Wet-cupping therapy(WCT)is one of the oldest known medical techniques, used as a traditional and complementary therapy with a wide application all around the world for general health.Research on the effects of WCT on sports performance are sparse and inconsistent. Thus,we aimed to explore the effects of WCT on repeated sprint ability, wellness, and exertion in young active males.Forty-nine active adult males(age:[28±5]years;body height[177±8]cm;body mass:[79±7]kg;body mass index:[25.4±1.8]kg/m^(2))were selected for the study. The participants performed a running-based sprint test on two separate occasions(Control and Post-WCT).WCT was performed 24 h before the testing session. They completed the Hooper questionnaire to assess their well-being(i.e.,sleep,stress,fatigue,and soreness)before each session. The rating of perceived exertion(RPE)was collected after each testing session.A higher maximum power(p<0.05,effect size[ES]=0.6),mean power(p<0.01,ES=0.5)and minimum power(p<0.01,ES=0.6)were recorded post-WCT as compared to Control session along with a better perceived sleep(p<0.01,ES=0.85).Perceived stress(p<0.01,ES=0.6)and RPE(p<0.001;ES=1.1)were lower during the post-WCT compared to the Control session. The present findings demonstrated that WCT moderately enhanced repeated sprint ability and had positive effects on perceived sleep, stress, and exertion.WCT may be an effective ergogenic aid to improve repeated sprint ability and general wellbeing in young adult males.Future large-scale multicentric clinical studies are paramount to confirm the results of our study.

文摘Chinese tongue diagnosis was initially developed to quickly and efficiently diagnose and prescribe medicine, while at the same time allowing the doctor to have minimal contact with the patient. This article focuses on the historical development of what is the world's earliest tongue diagnosis monograph, and discusses the directions that such knowledge may be used in future clinical research.

文摘Objective: To observe the effect of moxibustion therapy plus cupping on perceived exertion and blood biochemical indicators in athletes with exercise-induced fatigue. Conclusion: Combined moxibustion with cupping is an effective and easy-to-operate method for exercise-induced fatigue.
文摘OBJECTIVE:To compare two therapeutic methods:electroacupuncture + massage + blocking therapy, and blocking therapy alone in the treatment of external humeral epicondylitis.METHODS:Eighty-six patients were randomized into two groups with 43 in each. The effect of electroacupuncture, massage, and blocking therapy used in combination lasted longer, delaying the recurrence of the disease.

文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the efficacy of Chaihu Ji Sang Decoction(CJSD),(a modification of Xiao Chaihu Tang(Minor Decoction of Bupleurum) was evaluated in patients with post-infection cough(PIC).Its effect on cough reflex sensitivity(CRS) was also described.METHODS:One hundred and eighteen patients with PIC were enrolled and randomly divided into an experimental group and control group(54 patients in each group). The experimental group was given CJSD orally, and the control group was given cetirizine hydrochloride for 7 d.Cough symptom scores and TCM symptom scores were compared before and after treatment.Efficacy, cough onset time, recurrence, and adverse drug reactions were additionally evaluated. Finally,CRS was evaluated before and after treatment of PIC patients in the experimental group.RESULTS:Fifty-two patients in the experimental group and fifty control patients completed the study.Cough symptom scores and the TCM symptom scores of the two groups were significantly improved after treatment, however cough symptoms in the experimental group 1(0,2) were significantly lower than the control group 2(1,2) after treatment(P < 0.05).Similarly,TCM symptom scores 4(0,7) in the experimental group were significantly lower than the control group 6(3,12)(P < 0.01).Overall,the effective rate of the experimental treatment(84.60%) was significantly higher than that of the control treatment(68.00%)(P < 0.01).The onset time of efficacy of the experimental treatment was one day faster than the control treatment [2(2,3) d vs 3(2,3) d,P < 0.01].The relapse rate in the experimental group(9.09%) was lower than that of the control group(29.41%)(P < 0.05).39 PIC patients in the experimental group completed a capsaicin cough challenge test before treatment. The lgC2 and lg C5 of the experimental group prior to treatment was 1.19(0.59,1.49) and 1.80(1.49,2.10),respectively.The lgC2,lg C5 of the healthy control group was 1.49(0.89,2.40) and 2.70(2.40,3.00),respectively.The differences in lgC2 and lg C5 between experimental group and healthy groups were significant at this time point(both P < 0.01).After treatment,34 patients in the experimental group received re-examination.lg C5 increased from 1.80(1.49,2.10) to 2.10(1.49,3.00).CRS after treatment/re-examination was significantly lower than those of baseline in the experimental group(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:CJSD could effectively improve the clinical symptoms of PIC patients, with demonstrable low recurrence and safety.CJSD also significantly decreased the CRS in patients with PIC.
文摘To the Editor: Cerebral vascular events (intracerebral hemorrhage [ICH] or venous infarction) are the most feared complications of deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery. The estimated risk of ICH in DBS surgery reportedly varies from 0.2% to 5.6%.[1-3] ICH may develop at one of two sites depending on the puncture tract: (1) in the basal ganglia or target area or (2) in the puncture channel or cortex area. However, venous infarction in association with DBS surgery has rarely been described.[4-6]

文摘We studied the muscle fatigue and recovery of thirty male sprinters(aged 18–22 years)using the Frequency Analysis Method(FAM).The interferential currents(ICs)with different thresholds for sensory, motor and pain responses, the maximal voluntary contraction(MVC),and the amplitude of the surface EMG(aEMG,sEMG)were assessed prior to and immediately after an acute explosive fatigue training session, and during one-week recovery. We found that IC increased on average from 32.38.9 mA to 37.57.5 mA in sensory response at 10 Hz immediately post training(p=0.004)but decreased at 24-hr post training(p=0.008)and returned to pre-levels thereafter.Motor and pain response patterns at 10 Hz were similar(motor:p=0.033 and 0.040;pain:p=0.022 and 0.019,respectively).The change patterns of ICs were similar to but prior to the changes of sEMG.The agreement between IC assessment and amplitude of sEMG(aEMG)/MVC ratio was good(>95%).The present study suggested that the changes in ICs were prior to the changes in both the aEMG and force during fatigue. These changes may reflect the physiological sensory change due to peripheral fatigue.FAM may be useful as an effective early detection and simple tool for monitoring muscle fatigue during training and recovery in athletes.
文摘Purpose This cross-sectional study investigated dynamic force-time variables and vaulting performance in young female gymnasts of different maturity status. Methods 120 gymnasts aged 5-14 years were sub-divided into maturity groupings using percent of predicted adult height(%PAH)attained.Participants performed three jumping protocols, the squat jump(SJ),countermovement jump(CMJ)and drop jump(DJ),before completing straight jump vaults that were recorded using two-dimensional video. Results Jumping performance improved with biological maturity evidenced by the most mature gymnasts’producing sig-nificantly more absolute force(P<0.05;all d>0.78),impulse(P<0.05;all d>0.75)and power(P<0.05;all d>0.91)than the least mature group, resulting in the greater jump heights(P<0.05;all d>0.70).While,no significant differences were observed in relative peak force across multiple tests, measures of relative peak power did significantly increase with maturity.Based upon regression analyses, maturation was found to influence vertical take-off velocity during vaulting, explaining 41%of the variance in each jumping protocol.Across all tests, the DJ was found to have the highest predictive ability of vaulting vertical take-off velocity, explaining 55%of the total variance. Conclusion Biological maturation impacts jump height and underpinning mechanical variables in young female gymnasts.Vaulting vertical take-off velocity appears to be influenced by maturation and various dynamic force-time variables,par-ticularly those during DJ,which had the highest explained total variance.
