Continuumtopology optimization considering the vibration response is of great value in the engineering structure design.The aimof this studyis toaddress the topological designoptimizationof harmonic excitationstructureswith minimumlength scale control to facilitate structuralmanufacturing.Astructural topology design based on discrete variables is proposed to avoid localized vibration modes,gray regions and fuzzy boundaries in harmonic excitation topology optimization.The topological design model and sensitivity formulation are derived.The requirement of minimum size control is transformed into a geometric constraint using the discrete variables.Consequently,thin bars,small holes,and sharp corners,which are not conducive to the manufacturing process,can be eliminated from the design results.The present optimization design can efficiently achieve a 0–1 topology configuration with a significantly improved resonance frequency in a wide range of excitation frequencies.Additionally,the optimal solution for harmonic excitation topology optimization is not necessarily symmetric when the load and support are symmetric,which is a distinct difference fromthe static optimization design.Hence,one-half of the design domain cannot be selected according to the load and support symmetry.Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the discrete variable design for excitation frequency topology optimization,and to improve the design manufacturability. 展开更多

This paper aims to propose a topology optimization method on generating porous structures comprising multiple materials.The mathematical optimization formulation is established under the constraints of individual volume fraction of constituent phase or total mass,as well as the local volume fraction of all phases.The original optimization problem with numerous constraints is converted into a box-constrained optimization problem by incorporating all constraints to the augmented Lagrangian function,avoiding the parameter dependence in the conventional aggregation process.Furthermore,the local volume percentage can be precisely satisfied.The effects including the globalmass bound,the influence radius and local volume percentage on final designs are exploited through numerical examples.The numerical results also reveal that porous structures keep a balance between the bulk design and periodic design in terms of the resulting compliance.All results,including those for irregular structures andmultiple volume fraction constraints,demonstrate that the proposedmethod can provide an efficient solution for multiple material infill structures. 展开更多

The paper describes the three kinds of impact varieties and impact mechanisms in the sub-synchronous oscillation phenomena of wind power system based on doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) wind generators. Moreover, based on the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System, the optimum setting strategy for the maximum energy capture was proposed for the practical operation process. The present work introduces a novel concurrent optimization formulation to meet the requirements of lightweight design and various constraints simultaneously.Nodal displacement of macrostructure and effective thermal conductivity of microstructure are regarded as the constraint functions, which means taking into account both the loadcarrying capabilities and the thermal insulation properties.The effective properties of porous material derived from numerical homogenization are used for macrostructural analysis. Meanwhile, displacement vectors of macrostructures from original and adjoint load cases are used for sensitivity analysis of the microstructure. Design variables in the form of reciprocal functions of relative densities are introduced and used for linearization of the constraint function. The objective function of total mass is approximately expressed by the second order Taylor series expansion. Then, the proposed concurrent optimization problem is solved using a sequential quadratic programming algorithm, by splitting into a series of sub-problems in the form of the quadratic program. Finally, several numerical examples are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed optimization method. The various effects including initial designs, prescribed limits of nodal displacement, and effective thermal conductivity on optimized designs are also investigated. An amount of optimized macrostructures and their corresponding microstructures are achieved. 展开更多

In this paper, we tested the entire charging process of a single off-board charger in one charging station in Beijing. Among the testing data, we chose the typical power quality parameters and compared them with national standard. Then we drew conclusions as follows: 1) Electric vehicle battery is the capacitive load. It can export reactive power when charging. 2) In the charging process of the off-board charger, indicators of voltage deviation, frequency deviation, power factor, and voltage distortion rate are qualified. 3) Off-board charger produces odd harmonics in the charging process, and with increasing harmonic order, harmonic content reduces. There is a certain amount of high-order harmonic in off-board charger, mainly distributing around 6650 kHz. 4) Generated harmonics of the actual device, the harmonic is mainly reflected in the current, voltage, only a small distortion. 展开更多

When an additional frequency control is implemented in the voltage source converter-based multi-terminal high voltage direct current(VSC-MTDC)system,the DC grid is capable of responding to a frequency disturbance in the AC system.However,the original additional frequency control may cause the DC voltage to exceed the limit when providing power for a severe frequency disturbance,threatening the security of the DC system.A novel dynamic additional frequency control strategy for the VSC-MTDC system is developed based on the relationship between the DC voltage and the frequency droop coefficient.A dynamic frequency droop coefficient is designed to adaptively adjust the support power of the DC grid,balancing the frequency regulation of the disturbed AC system and the voltage stability of the DC grid.A DC voltage recovery method based on multi-converter cooperation is proposed to cope with the DC voltage deviation caused by the additional frequency control.Simulations validate the advantages and satisfactory performance of the proposed method during power disturbances with different severities and for the process of DC voltage recovery. 展开更多

Firstly, a novel method for probabilistic production simulation for wind power integrated power systems is proposed based on universal generating function(UGF), which completes the production simulation with the chronological wind power and load demand. Secondly,multiple-period multiple-state wind power model and multiple-state thermal unit power model are adopted, and both thermal power and wind power are coordinately scheduled by the comprehensive cost including economic cost and environmental cost. Furthermore, the accommodation and curtailment of wind power is synergistically considered according to the available regulation capability of conventional generators in operation. Finally, the proposed method is verified and compared with conventional convolution method in the improved IEEE-RTS 79 system. 展开更多

This paper proposes an effective reliability design optimizationmethod for fail-safe topology optimization(FSTO)considering uncertainty based on the moving morphable bars method to establish the ideal balance between cost and robustness,reliability and structural safety.To this end,a performancemeasure approach(PMA)-based doubleloop optimization algorithmis developed tominimize the relative volume percentage while achieving the reliability criterion.To ensure the compliance value of the worst failure case can better approximate the quantified design requirement,a p-norm constraint approach with correction parameter is introduced.Finally,the significance of accounting for uncertainty in the fail-safe design is illustrated by contrasting the findings of the proposed reliabilitybased topology optimization(RBTO)method with those of the deterministic design method in three typical examples.Monte Carlo simulation shows that the relative error of the reliability index of the optimized structure does not exceed 3%. 展开更多

Subsynchronous oscillation (SSO) with low amplitude that exceeds cumulative fatigue threshold of the generator shaft frequently could significantly reduce the shaft's service life, which is a new SSO problem that emerges in recent years. According to the real recording oscillograph, the basic reason for frequently over-threshold SSO with low amplitude at multi-power plants was analyzed based on Hulunbuir League system. The sensitivities of the electrical damping to the main electrical parameters in the contributing loop of subsynchronous torsional interaction were calculated. Based on the sensitivities, a simulation method was presented, which was used to excite the same oscillation as the actual case by exerting disturbance on the firing angle. The limitation of wide-band and narrow-band supplementary subsynchronous damping controller (SSDC) for mitigating this kind of SSO was analyzed based on the electromagnetic transient simulation model of Hulunbuir League system. The difference of supplementary excitation damping controller (SEDC) and parallel-form FACTS connected to the generator terminal was compared from the aspects of response time and the ability of damping torque supplying. The analysis indicates that their response time is similar but FACTS has stronger ability of damping torque supplying than SEDC. Time-domain simulation method was used to compare the mitigation effects of SEDC, static var compensator (SVC) and static synchronous compensator (STATCOM). Considering the mitigation effect, the floor space limit of the power plant and so on, STATCOM was considered as the best mitigation measure. A control strategy of cascaded STATCOM for engineering application was presented and the capacity for SSO mitigation as well as output characteristics was analyzed. The analysis indicates that STATCOM using the proposed control strategy has better mitigation effect and output characteristics with smaller capacity. 展开更多

In order to clarify the charging characteristics of suspension droplets in ion flow field under different temperatures and humidity,the effective charging factor used to characterize the charging characteristics of suspension droplets is introduced in this paper,and a calculation method of charging factor is proposed based on the upstream finite element method(FEM).Then,the charging factor under different temperatures and humidity is calculated,and the analytic expression of the charging factor considering the influence of temperature and humidity is obtained by fitting the calculation results.The influence of suspension droplets on the ion flow field is analyzed.The results show that the charging factor is small and increases little with the relative humidity when the relative humidity is less than 60%,and the charging factor is large and increases rapidly with the relative humidity when the relative humidity is more than 60%.At the same relative humidity,the charging factor increases linearly with the temperature.The influence of charged suspension droplets on the ion flow field can be ignored when the relative humidity is less than 60%and must be considered under high temperature and humidity.The calculation method and analytic expression of the charging factor proposed in this paper can be used to model of ion flow field considering the influence of temperature and humidity and provide technical support for the construction of HVDC transmission lines across high temperature and humidity. 展开更多

High-frequency resonance can occur when a modular multilevel converter(MMC)is inserted into an AC grid.Additional damping control is a relatively low-cost resonance suppression strategy compared to passive damping strategies.This paper analyzes the influences of a feed-forward voltage filter and feedback current filter for the inner controller for the high-frequency impedance characteristics of the MMC based on a model.Moreover,the mechanism,influencing factors,and limitations of the existing strategy including an additional lowpass filter in the voltage feed-forward stage are investigated.Secondly,a resonance suppression strategy for the inclusion of additional cascaded notch filters in the voltage feed-forward stage is proposed,and its parameter design method and applicable scenarios are analyzed.In addition,this paper analyzes the effects of the inclusion of an additional control in other stages for the inner controller of the MMC.Finally,the correctness of the theoretical analysis and the proposed strategy is verified based on the simulation of an actual project on PSCAD/EMTDC. 展开更多

The growth of renewable energy reduces the moment of inertia for the synchronous AC grid,so the authors put forward two basic questions:1)What is the physics insight that a synchronous AC grid needs for mechanical inertia?2)How to provide inertial response for the power grid dominated with renewable energy?Based on Einstein’s special relativity and the Lorentz transformation,these papers illustrates that the nature of the inertia of the AC grid comes from the relativity of the electromagnetic field and motion,and from the strong coupling between them.According to their nature,the inertial response of the synchronous generator is self-proven.By contrast,the converter for the grid-connection of renewable energies used various algorithms in order to provide virtual inertia.But because algorithms do not rebuild the coupling between electromagnetic fields and motion,it is doubtful whether they can provide inertia and inertial responses.Therefore,the authors propose that there is a need to build extra electromagnetic fields and motion coupling for grids with high penetration rates of renewable energy.Therefore,a new grid-connection technology via Motor-Generator Pair(MGP)is discussed.The electromagnetic-motion coupling of the MGP is analyzed,and the results of simulation and experimental studies are also reported. 展开更多

A comprehensive model that included mechanical dynamics of the shock absorber coupled with its thermal properties was proposed innovatively.Moreover a thermal-mechanical coupled model which reflected the closed-loop positive feedback system was established by using MATLAB/SIMULINK,and some curves of shock absorber temperature rising characteristic were obtained by simulation &computation under several operating modes and different parameters conditions.Research results show that:shock absorber design parameters,external excitations,and thermo-physical properties parameter,such as oil density have effect on the shock absorber temperature rising characteristic.However other thermo-physical properties parameters,such as oil specific heat,cylinder density,cylinder specific heat,and cylinder thermal conductivity,have no effect on it.The results may be used for studying reliability design of the shock absorber. 展开更多

A methodology for achieving the maximum bulk or shear modulus in an elastic composite composed of two isotropic phases with distinct Poisson’s ratios is proposed.A topology optimization algorithm is developed which is capable of finding microstructures with extreme properties very close to theoretical upper bounds.The effective mechanical properties of the designed composite are determined by a numerical homogenization technique.The sensitivities with respect to design variables are derived by simultaneously interpolating Young’smodulus and Poisson’s ratio using different parameters.The so-called solid isotropicmaterial with penalizationmethod is developed to establish the optimization formulation.Maximum bulk or shearmodulus is considered as the objective function,and the volume fraction of constituent phases is taken as constraints.Themethod ofmoving asymptotes is applied to update the design variables.Several 3D numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed structural optimization method.The effects of key parameters such as Poisson’s ratios and volume fractions of constituent phase on the final designs are investigated.A series of novel microstructures are obtained fromthe proposed approach.It is found that the optimized bulk and shearmoduli of all the studied composites are very close to the Hashin-Shtrikman-Walpole bounds. 展开更多

This nonlinear diode rectifier circuit has low power factor and high harmonic content. In order to improve power factor and reduce the harmonic distortion rate of the AC side current, single-phase non-controlled rectifier charger needs to install the active power factor correction device. A piece of power system analysis software which is called PSCAD is used in modeling of an EV charger which contains Boost-APFC. By means of simulation and analysis, differences of APFC characteristics between the hysteresis current control mode and average current control mode which has an influence on the power grid are compared. The consequence of simulation shows that the two control strategies achieve power factor correction and harmonic reduction requirements;Boost type power conversion circuit employs the average current control mode is better, which has following features: relatively faster settling time of the output voltage, relatively smaller overshoot, lower current harmonic distortion rate on AC side, lower switching frequency and better control effect. 展开更多

This paper describes the research on a largescale dispatchable grid-connected photovoltaic(PV)system for supplying power to the grid for dispatch instead of supplying the electricity to a local load.In order to maximise the value of the solar energy,a hybrid electricity storage consisting of batteries and supercapacitors is used with the PV system.This paper proposes a control strategy focusing on theDCpower at theDClink rather than at the grid-connected inverter.Two typical sets of real data,collected from existing sites,are used to demonstrate the practicality of the system.Finally,the simulation results are used to demonstrate the good performance and feasibility of the proposed system together with the proposed control strategy. 展开更多
