The result shows that the pl...Optical nonlinear refractive properties of a series of Mo(W)/S/Cu planar square clusters are investigated using the Z-scan technique with the ns laser pulses at the wavelength of 532 nm. The result shows that the planar metal clusters containing the halogen ligands demonstrate the self-focusing effect, and the other planar metal dusters demonstrate the self-defocusing effect. These facts indicate that the halogen ligands can act as crucial factors in determining the sign of the nonlinear refraction of the Mo(W)/S/Cu planar metal clusters. The analysis of the experimental data shows that the planar clusters with halogen ligands possess greater refraction volume of the excited state than that of the ground state, while the other planar clusters possess the smaller refraction volume of the excited state than that of the ground state.展开更多

Based on theoretical calculations using the density functional theory (DFT), the mechanism of these reduction reactions was postulated. This mechanism can be applied to help predicting the reduced products of aryl ketones (or aldehydes) in an alkaline solution.展开更多

The comparison of the limiting performances between carbon nanotube suspension, C60 solution, and carbon black suspension (CBS) was performed. The results show that the optical limiting characteristic of nano-gold self-assembled MWNT is better than those of C60 and CBS. The appa...The interactions between rutin or the inclusion complex of rutin-b-cyclodextrin and DNA were investigated by means of cyclic voltammetry, UV-vis absorption spectroscopy and fluorescence emission spectroscopy. The appar-ent binding constant of rutin with DNA is found to be 2.9×104 L/mol. The results showed that the ben-zopyranic-4-one plane of rutin mainly intercalated into DNA in the absence of b-cyclodextrin, while the catecholic portion of rutin was located in the double helix of DNA in the presence of b-cyclodextrin.展开更多
Based on the calculation results of pair correlation energy contributions of the various electron pairs in Na2 and H2NNH2 systems and the application of the scaling ionic partition scheme for symmetrical A2 type syste...Based on the calculation results of pair correlation energy contributions of the various electron pairs in Na2 and H2NNH2 systems and the application of the scaling ionic partition scheme for symmetrical A2 type systems, the to-tal correlation energies of Na2 and H2NNH2 have been reproduced by using this simple scheme. The two results show that the absolute deviations are within an acceptable range of error, however, in this way, more than 90% of computational work can be saved. The most attractive result in present paper is that, in these two molecules the co-efficients c1 and c2 in the estimation equation can be obtained by the proportion of correlation energy of A- to that of A+ singlet system. Therefore, it is believed that the proposed ionic partition scheme for symmetrical A2 mole-cules would be very useful to estimate the correlation energies of large symmetrical molecules.展开更多
