The microRaman scattering of 4H-SiC films, fabricated by low pressure chemical vapor deposition under different growth conditions, is investigated at temperatures ranging from 80 K to 550K. The effects of growth conditions on E2 (TO), E1 (TO) and A1 (LO) phonon mode frequencies are negligible. The temperature dependences of phonon linewidth and lifetime of E2 (TO) modes are analyzed in terms of an anharmonic damping effect induced by thermal and growth conditions. The results show that the lifetime of E2 (TO) mode increases when the quality of the sample improves. Unlike other phone modes, Raman shift of A1 (longitudinal optical plasma coupling (LOPC)) mode does not decrease monotonously when the temperature increases, but tends to blueshift at low temperatures and to redshift at relatively high temperatures. Theoretical analyses are given for the abnormal phenomena of A1 (LOPC) mode in 4H-SiC. 展开更多

This paper studies theoretically the spin evolution of a Bose-Einstein condensate starting from a mixture of two or three groups of 52Cr (spin-3) atoms in an optical trap. The initial state is so chosen that the condensate has total magnetization zero so that the system does not distinguish up and down. It is assumed that the system is very dilute (particle number is very small), the temperature is very low, and the frequency of the harmonic trap is large enough. In these situations, the deviation caused by the neglect of the dipole-dipole interaction and by using the single-mode approximation is reduced. A theoretical calculation beyond the mean field theory is performed and the numerical results are helpful for the evaluation of the unknown strength go. 展开更多

We study the effect of dimension variation for second-harmonic generation(SHG) in lithium niobate on insulator(LNOI)waveguides. Non-trivial SHG profiles in both type-0 and type-I quasi-phase matching are observed during the wavelength tuning of the fundamental light. Theoretical modeling shows that the SHG profile and efficiency can be greatly affected by the waveguide cross-section dimension variations, especially the thickness variations. In particular, our analysis shows that a thickness variation of tens of nanometers is in good agreement with the experimental results. Such investigations could be used to evaluate fabrication performance of LNOI-based nonlinear optical devices. 展开更多

Spatial modes have received substantial attention over the last decades and are used in optical communication applications.In fiber-optic communications,the employed linearly polarized modes and phase vortex modes carrying orbital angular momentum can be synthesized by fiber vector eigenmodes.To improve the transmission capacity and miniaturize the communication system,straightforward fiber vector eigenmode multiplexing and generation of fiber-eigenmode-like polarization vortices(vector vortex modes)using photonic integrated devices are of substantial interest.Here,we propose and demonstrate direct fiber vector eigenmode multiplexing transmission seeded by integrated optical vortex emitters.By exploiting vector vortex modes(radially and azimuthally polarized beams)generated from silicon microring resonators etched with angular gratings,we report data-carrying fiber vector eigenmode multiplexing transmission through a 2-km large-core fiber,showing low-level mode crosstalk and favorable link performance.These demonstrations may open up added capacity scaling opportunities by directly accessing multiple vector eigenmodes in the fiber and provide compact solutions to replace bulky diffractive optical elements for generating various optical vector beams. 展开更多

The ability to measure the orbital angular momentum(OAM)distribution of vortex light is essential for OAM applications.Although there have been many studies on the measurement of OAM modes,it is difficult to quantitatively and instantaneously measure the power distribution among different OAM modes,let alone measure the phase distribution among them.In this work,we propose an OAM complex spectrum analyzer that enables simultaneous measurements of the power and phase distributions of OAM modes by employing the rotational Doppler effect.The original OAM mode distribution is mapped to an electrical spectrum of beat signals using a photodetector.The power and phase distributions of superimposed OAM beams are successfully retrieved by analyzing the electrical spectrum.We also extend the measurement technique to other spatial modes,such as linear polarization modes.These results represent a new landmark in spatial mode analysis and show great potential for applications in OAM-based systems and optical communication systems with mode-division multiplexing. 展开更多
