Objective:To evaluate the influences of entrepreneurship training on the innovation potential among nursing students. Methods:A quasi-experimental design was utilized to conduct this study. The study was conducted in the classroom at the faculty of nursing, and the“i Hub”center at Ain Shams University(ASU)in Cairo,Egypt.A purposive sample of 42 nursing students who participated in the“Ain Shams University-innovate”competition from the Faculty of Nursing of ASU were included in this study.Data collection tools included(1)Nursing students'innovation skills assessment questionnaire and(2)Innovative projects evaluation tool. Results:There was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of nursing students'total innovation skills pre-and post-implementation of entrepreneurship training, where P-value<0.05.Conclusions:The results of the current study support the research hypothesis because the implementation of entrepreneurship training positively affects nursing students'innovation potential.Developing entrepreneurship education in nursing and integrating it into nursing programs will stimulate creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship among nursing students and health care services. 展开更多

Objective:To determine the impact of applying the theory of human becoming and self-care deficit theory of nursing in overcoming insomnia in patients of urinary incontinence(UI)after stroke.Insomnia is a sleep disorder experienced by UI patients after stroke which can exacerbate problems related to brain damage and can complicate the recovery process. Methods:This study was a quasi-experimental conducted in 4 hospitals.Fifty-six patients were selected by convenience sampling and divided into 2 groups(the intervention and control group).Participants in the intervention group received“applying the theory of Human becoming and self-care deficit theory of nursing,”starting when the patient is about to go home from the hospital and continuing at the house.Measurement of insomnia is done using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI).Results:The mean insomnia scores of participants from both groups increased in the first and third measurements. The second and third insomnia measurements found a significant difference(P<0.001).This intervention decreased the average score of insomnia by 4.11 times in the second measurement and 5.82 times in the third measurement. The most important item that decreased in the third measurement of insomnia was sleep efficiency. Conclusions:Applying the theory of human becoming and self-care deficit theory of nursing in this study significantly decreased the insomnia score of post-stroke UI patients. It can be used as a guide for nurses, patients, and families in managing insomnia. In addition, the application of nursing theory in nursing practice can systematize nursing care plans and organize the knowledge of professionals into a conceptual framework,as well as provide effective guidance for nurses on what to do. 展开更多

Objective:To determine and compare the abilities of Shot Blocker and cryotherapy for reducing pain and anxiety associated with subcutaneous injections.Subcutaneous injection has been used excessively for continuous,low-dose administration of drugs.Considering that these drugs may require prolonged administration, new devices and methods of injection are needed to decrease pain and anxiety associated with repeated drug injections. Methods:A quasi-experimental study design on a purposive sample of 54 patients comprised of both sexes has been utilized. The subjects were divided into 2 equal groups(group 1,Shot Blocker;group 2,cryotherapy),and 3 tools were used, namely the sociodemographic and medical data sheet,Verbal Descriptor Scale for measuring pain, and Beck Anxiety Inventory. Results:A significant reduction in pain and anxiety mean scores was observed after using cryotherapy and Shot Blocker techniques during subcutaneous injection. In addition, the Shot Blocker group exhibited significantly lower pain and anxiety mean scores compared with the cryotherapy group. Conclusions:Our findings revealed that Shot Blocker and cryotherapy were effective non-pharmacological methods for reducing pain and anxiety levels associated with repeated subcutaneous injections. 展开更多

It progresses quickly and has high morbidity and mortality. In this study, we aimed to explore a case of necrotizing fasciitis in a diabetic patient. Patient concerns: A 46-year-old woman presented with severe pain and inflammation in the left leg, and with fever and chills. Diagnosis: Necrotizing fasciitis in the left leg. Intervention: Broad debridement of infectious tissues and broad-spectrum venous antibiotics. Outcomes: The patient was discharged without pain, inflation, or fever. Lesson: This disease is a surgical emergency, therefore, early diagnosis and quick and invasive treatment could significantly decrease morbidity and mortality. 展开更多

Reinforcement of TPNR (thermoplastic natural rubber) with cotton fibre spun was prepared by using hot compression moulding. The TPNR was prepared by mixing NR (natural rubber) with PE (polyethylene) using 2-roll mills before compressed on cotton fibre spun and vulcanized at 150℃. The mechanical properties and morphology of the membrane were investigated using DMTA (dynamic mechanical thermal analyzer) and SEM (scanning electron microscopy), respectively. The membrane strength was increased from 10 MPa to 18 MPa after reinforced with cotton fibre spun as well as the increasing of dielectric constant. The membrane was immersed in xylene to remove PE phase before characterization of membrane properties. 展开更多

We conducted a systematic review andmeta-analysis to determine the prevalence of depression among elderly people living with HIV.We searched electronic databases and included 12 observational studies that reported on depression among people who were 50 years of age or older and had HIV.The studies were mostly hospital-based and fromWestern and African countries. They included a total of 5868 older peoplewith HIV,ofwhom 1667 had depression.Pooled prevalence of depression was 28%with heterogeneity of 95.2%.Prevalence ranged from 14.5%in the Netherlands to 42.4%in South Africa.Although therewas asymmetry in the funnel plot, the Egger’s test showed no significant publication bias. Our meta-analysis found a high burden of depression among older people with HIV.Comprehensive health services addressing psychosocial needs and interventions to prevent and treat depression are needed, especially in community settings.Healthcare providers and policymakers should address the prevalence of depression in such communities. 展开更多
