TCM Treatment of Lumbago Due to Qi Stagnation in the Liver and Gallbladder

As we know, lumbago falls into the category of bi syndrome. It is mainly caused by the external pathogens, such as wind, cold, heat or dampness in the meridians and collaterals. Actually, the emotional disorder, and Zang and Fu damage can also lead to liver stagnation and finally the bi syndrome.

TCM Treatment of Extrasystole with Huanglian Shengmai Yin—A Report of 357 Cases

The previous experimental studies have demonstrated that addition of Huang Qi ([symbol: see text] Radix Astragali) to the formulated recipe Sheng Mai Yin ([symbol: see text] Decoction for Pulse-activation) exerts the effects of strengthening the myodynamia, increasing the coronary flow, improving myocardial metabolism, and resisting the arrhythmia. The active component of Huang Lian ([symbol: see text] Rhizoma Coptidis) can prolong the myocardial action potential and antagonize the chloroform-, aconitine-, barium chloride-, epinephrine- or coronary ligation-induced arrhythmia by blocking the calcium channel. Ku Shen ([symbol: see text] Radix Sophorae Flavescentis) contains matrine and flavones, which act as quinidine to decrease the excitability of the myocardium, prolong the refractory period, and inhibit the ectopic cardiac rhythm. And Dan Shen ([symbol: see text] Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae) has the action of improving the ischemic state of the myocardium by dilating the coronary vessels. In conclusion, the definite therapeutic effects of Huang Lian Sheng Mai Yin in treating ventricular, atrial and nodal arrhythmia suggests that the prescription is rational and accords with the therapeutic principle of TCM. Except discomfort in the gastric cavity and poor appetite experienced by some patients, there is no toxic or adverse reaction.

Two-year Observation of the Clinical Efficacy in Treating Chronic Hepatitis B Patients with Ganxian Recipe (肝纤方) and Lamivudine

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Ganxian recipe (肝纤方, GXR) and lamivudine (LVD) in a two-year treatment of chronic hepatitis B (CHB). Methods: One hundred and twenty patients with CHB were randomly divided into the combinedly treated group (combined group) of 40 CHB patients who were treated with GXR combined with LVD. Another 40 CHB patients were treated with LVD alone (WM group), and still another 40 CHB patients were treated with GXR alone (TCM group). All these cases were randomly controlled and observed for two years. Results: Comprehensive efficacy: Total effective rate of the combined group (complete response and partial response) was 92.5%, while that of the WM group was 67.5% and TCM group 57.5%, respectively, with the difference between them was significant ( P <0.01); after treatment, the hepatic functions (AST, ALT, SB) of the three groups were all reduced, and the reduction in the combined group was particularly significant in comparison with the WM group or TCM group, P <0.05 or P < 0.01 respectively, suggesting that the effect in the combined group was better than that in the other two groups; the rate of tyrosine-methionine-aspartate-aspartate (YMDD) virus mutation: it was 7.5% in the combined group, 40.0% in the WM group, and 5.0% in the TCM group; liver fibrosis improvement parameter: after treatment, the results in the combined group got better than those in the other two groups. Conclusion: GXR could inhibit the appearance of YMDD after long-term application of LVD, and combined use has marked synergism.

A Clinical Investigation on Garlicin Injectio for Treatment of Unstable Angina Pectoris and Its Actions on Plasma Endothelin and Blood Sugar Levels

To investigate the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of garlicin for treatment of unstable angina pectoris (UAP), garlicin injectio was intravenously dripped 60 mg/day in 34 cases for 10 days. Nitroglycerine was used in 21 cases of the control group. The results showed that the total effective rates in improving symptoms and electrocardiogram after garlicin treatment were respectively 82% and 62%, and that the plasma endothelin and blood sugar levels were markedly lowered in cases with hyperglycemia.

The Effect of Xin Mai Tong Capsules in Protecting Survival Cardiac Muscles of the Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction

To study the effect of Composite Xin Mai Tong capsules (复方心脉通胶囊 CXMT) in protecting survival cardiac muscles in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) operation. The treatment with Composite XMT capsules started 3 days prior to the operation and continued for a period of 4 weeks; and its effect on the number of segments of nuclide resting ventricular myocardial imaging, the nuclide defect extension score (ES) and nuclide defect severity score (SS),and the level of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) of circulatory blood were determined and compared with that of the control group. More segments originally scored 1 turning to be scored 2 in nuclide imaging were seen in the treatment group than in the control group; and smaller ES and less SS seen in the former than in the latter group (P＜0.05). Composite XMT capsules play an active role in myocardial salvage by promoting its metabolism and expression of circulatory VEGF. Its angiogenesis-like action helps establish collateral flow and has a positive role in myocardial salvage.

Application value of electrocardiogram in the treatment and prognosis of idiopathic pulmonary hypertension

Objective: To evaluate the treatment and prognostic value of 12-lead electrocardiogram in idiopathic pulmonary hypertension (IPAH). Methods: A total of 200 patients with initial diagnosis of IPAH were included to analyze the correlation between ECG variables and hemodynamics.Univariate and multivariate proportional hazards regression analysis (Cox regression analysis) were used to analyze the changes of ECG parameters and determine the ECG parameters related to IPAH patients. Results: Partial correlation analysis showed that the amplitude of R wave in V1 lead was correlated with mPAP(r=0.343, P<0.001), and the sum of the amplitude of R wave in V1 lead and S wave in V5 lead was correlated with mPAP(r=0.504, P<0.001). The amplitude of R wave in V1 lead was correlated with mortality (HR 3.154, P<0.001), and the sum of the amplitude of R wave in V1 lead and S wave in V5 lead was correlated with mortality (HR 5.056, P<0.001). After 3 months of treatment,ECG parameters and hemodynamic status were improved. Conclusion: The specific 12-lead ECG parameters can reflect the improvement of the treatment of patients with idiopathic pulmonary hypertension and help to evaluate the prognosis of patients with idiopathic pulmonary hypertension.

OBSERVATION ON THE THERAPEUTIC EFFECT OF TREATMENT OF 150 CASES OF INSOMNIA BY PUNCTURING BODY ACUPOINTS AND OTOPOINTS

In the present paper, the therapeutic effect of needling Baihui (GV 20) and Sishenchong (EX HN 1) combined with otopoint Xin (MA IC), Shenmen, Naodian and Pizhixia (MA AT 1) for treatment of insomnia was observed in 150 patients. Results showed that the cure rate, effective rate and ineffective rate were 84%, 13.33% and 2.67% respectively. Comparison between Western medicine group and acupuncture group showed a significant difference in the therapeutic effect (P< 0.01). It displays that acupuncture can correct the imbalance between excitement and suppression of the cerebral cortex and had effects of tranquilizing and allaying excitement.

Observation on Curative Effect of Self-made Wubeizi Decoction Combined with rhaFGF in Promoting Postoperative Wound Healing in Patients with Anal Fistula

[Objectives]To explore the curative effect of Self-made Wubeizi Decoction combined with recombinant human acidic fibroblast growth factor(rhaFGF)in promoting postoperative wound healing in patients with anal fistula.[Methods]A total of 82 patients with anal fistula who underwent anal fistula resection+use of setons in Luodian Hospital during January and March of 2020 were randomly divided into observation group and control group with 41 cases in each group.The control group was given rhaFGF external application regimen,and the observation group was treated with Self-made Wubeizi Decoction on the basis of the control group.After 3 weeks of treatment,the differences in curative effects of TCM syndromes were compared between the two groups.Besides,the changes in TCM symptom scores,inflammatory mediators[interleukin-12(IL-12),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interferon-γ(IFN-γ)],anorectal functions[anal resting pressure(ARP),maximal systolic pressure(MSP)and maximum tolerated volume(MTV)of the anal canal],quality of life[GQOLI-74 scores]were compared.[Results]After 3 weeks of treatment,the total effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05);the levels of TCM symptom scores,IL-12,TNF-α,IFN-γ,ARP,MSP,and MTV in both groups were significantly lower than those before treatment,and these levels in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group at the same time(P<0.05).The GQOLI-74 scores of both groups were significantly higher than those before treatment,and the observation group was significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05).[Conclusions]The Self-made Wubeizi Decoction combined with rhaFGF therapy has a significant effect in promoting postoperative wound healing in patients with anal fistula.It can effectively inhibit the local inflammation of patients,facilitate the recovery of anorectal function and improve the quality of life,thus has high clinical application value.

ADVANCES IN TCM TREATMENT OF HYPERPROLACTINEMIA

In recent years, rapid progress has been seen in the treatment of hyperprolactinemia with TCM and materia medica. The old pattern of simply using bromocryptine to treat the disease has been changed. Most of the cases reported in this paper were primary hyperprolactinemia, with other primary diseases excluded. As TCM treatment produces definite therapeutic effects with few side-effects, the methods above reported are worth recommending.

Acupuncture Treatment for 34 Cases of Uremic Cutaneous Pruritus

Chronic renal insufficiency is the result of renal injuries and progressive deterioration caused by various reasons. Nursing Based on Syndrome Differentiation Combined with Auricular Plaster Therapy in Alleviating Insomnia

Objective:To observe the effect of auricular point pressing combined with nursing based on syndrome differentiation in the treatment of insomnia patients.Methods:Totally 92 patients with insomnia were randomly divided into the observation groupgiven auricular point pressing combined with nursing care based on syndrome differentiation and the control group treated with auricular point pressing alone.The improvement of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),TCM Syndrome Score and nursing satisfaction were compared between the 2 groups.Results:The time effect of PSQI total score and 6 factors in both groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).The time effect,interaction effect and inter-group effect of subjective sleep quality,PSQI total score were statistically significant(P<0.05);the 4 inter-group factors of sleep quality,sleep latency,sleep duration and daytime function were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total score of TCM syndromes in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05),and the satisfaction rate in the observation group higher than that in the control group(80.43%vs.60.86%,P<0.05).Conclusion:Auricular point pressing combined withnursing based on syndrome differentiation can effectively improve the sleep quality of insomnia patients,and has significant advantages in improving TCM syndromes,as well as gained higher nursing satisfaction from patients.

Clinical Observation on Abdominal Cluster-Needling for Treatment of Chronic Annexitis

Chronic annexitis is a frequently encountered disease at clinic. According to clinical experience in acupuncture treatment of annexitis, the author has developed an effective acupuncture method called abdominal cluster-needling, with quite good therapeutic results as reported in the following.Clinical DataThere were altogether 66 cases of chronic annexitis in this series, which were divided randomly into the treatment group and control group. The treatment group consisted of 36 cases, ranging in age from 20-40 years, and duration of illness from 0.5-9 years. The control group consisted of 30 cases, ranging in age from 21-38 years, and duration of illness from 1-8 years.

Treatment of Diabetic Neuropathy——Principles and Methods

Diabetic neuropathy (DN) is one of the common complications of diabetes mellitus (DM), its incidence can be as high as over 90%. The lesion can involve the sensory, motor and vegetative nerves. As a whole, the lesion can be divided into symmetric multiple neuropathy and asymmetric single neuropathy. Because the pathogenesis of the disease is not clear, no specific therapy is available so far. Besides control of blood sugar level, vitamin B, vasodilators and analgesics are often used in Western medicine for expectant treatment. Basic studies on chronic complications of DM show that aldose reductase and non-enzymatic glycosylation of protein are factors initiating the pathological changes, inhibitors against them have been tested in experimental studies and proved effective. Unfortunately, they are not used clinically due to severe side effects. Screening for herbal drugs to treat DN is still a popular trend in the TCM circle.
