An algorithm for solving nonlinear least squares problems with general linear inequality constraints is described.At each step,the problem is reduced to an unconstrained linear least squares problem in a subs pace def...An algorithm for solving nonlinear least squares problems with general linear inequality constraints is described.At each step,the problem is reduced to an unconstrained linear least squares problem in a subs pace defined by the active constraints,which is solved using the quasi-Newton method.The major update formula is similar to the one given by Dennis,Gay and Welsch (1981).In this paper,we state the detailed implement of the algorithm,such as the choice of active set,the solution of subproblem and the avoidance of zigzagging.We also prove the globally convergent property of the algorithm.展开更多

The ordered structur...In this paper, an ion-vacancy lattice gas model is presented for M-ions occupying octahedrally coordinated sites in the intercalation compounds M<sub>x</sub>TX<sub>2</sub>. The ordered structures of M-ions are studied using probability wave theory of the atomic configuration. Three stablest ordered structrues have been deduced and the role of interaction parameters in the formation of ordered structures is analysed quantitatively. IntroductionFrom time to time in joint Sino-British ELT Projects there is conflict.This is not unusual.Conflict isinevitable in all areas of life no matter how you try to avoid it.Often it is tempting to try and ignor...IntroductionFrom time to time in joint Sino-British ELT Projects there is conflict.This is not unusual.Conflict isinevitable in all areas of life no matter how you try to avoid it.Often it is tempting to try and ignoreconflict in the hope that it will go away.However,the practical way of approaching the problem ofconflict in general and Advanced Teacher Training Course (ATTC) Projects in particular is to thinkof it as a positive opportunity for beneficial change;even though conflict is an opposition of interestsit is not necessarily synonymous with hostility.It only manifests itself as hostility when both sideschoose opposing positions and are unwilling to negotiate from them.Such hostility is often the resultof a personality clash.In this paper I will focus on identifying some of the cultural causes of intra-project,non-academic,administrative and managerial disputes in ATTC Projects and consider howsuch disagreements can be prevented through simple and effective negotiation.展开更多
