Exploration of the profession-oriemed education in college English teaching in independent colleges

With the economic and social development of our country, the demand of all walks of life in our society on the compound talents who both master the professional knowledge and have the higher skills of English is increasing gradually. But at present, the graduates that the traditional teaching systems of the independent colleges which cultivate the application-oriented specialists cannot completely meet the requirement of the society. Therefore, colleges and universities should take the professional English ability as the core, and make the major reform from the teaching concepts of the college English teaching, the teaching models, and the teaching evaluation and so on, and establish the new system of college English teaching.

Experiments on the orientation of the bilingual learning majored in tourism management in independent colleges based on the data mining

This study takes two undergraduate courses of Grade 2011 and 2012 of tourism management in an independent college as the sample, uses the questionnaires and the interviews to obtain the relevant data, analyzes the tendency of the bilingual learning of the students, and then uses the data analysis to draw the factors influencing the bilingual teaching effect. Based on the above data analysis, the paper puts forward the composition elements and the implementation path of the bilingual teaching systems of the tourism management specialty in indeoendent colleges.

A Study of the Semantic Features of “Obtaining” Verbs in English

“Obtaining” verbs depict a person taking temporary possession of an object. They signal an event of the transferring of one thing from its original owner to a potential possessor. Based on theories of Cognitive Semantics, this paper intends to probe into the semantic features of English “obtaining” verbs and the different profiles, background frames entailed in different words, hoping to shed light on the further study of the syntactic performance of this category of verbs.

Formation Mechanism and Characteristics Research of Ball Lightning Based on Vortex Model

The strange characteristics of ball lightning are considered as a question hard to explain. In order to solve the problem, in this paper a complete model of plasma vortex is presented for the ball lightning. By ideal MHD equations, through imposing disturbance to plasma column, the possibility of sausage and kink instability of the lightning channel is analyzed from the perspective the minimum potential energy. The conclusion is that the kink instability （m = 1） is most prone to occur. And when instability occurs, because of the difference of the magnetic field in the twisted area, the magnetic pressure makes the trend further and therefore forming the plasma vortex that may eventually turn into ball lightning if the energy of the vortex is large enough. The existence of the vortex makes ball lightning have a short period of time stability. By the proposed model, the ball lightning features that are hard to understand in the past are explained. In this paper, the reason for bead lightning is also explained from the perspective of the sausage instability.

Essential Characteristics of Plasma Antennas Driven by One-ended Surface Wave

Based on the principle that one-ended electromagnetic surface wave can drive a plasma antenna, the relation between the effective length of an antenna column and the applied radio frequency （RF） power was studied both theoretically and experimentally. The density dis- tribution along the antenna column as well as the electron temperature in different conditions were investigated. The characteristics of the reception of local frequency modulated （FM） electro- magnetic wave by the plasma antenna were compared with that by a copper antenna with same dimensions. The results show that it is feasible to take plasma antennas as receiving ones.

Reconstruction of geological surfaces using chance-constrained programming

Geological surface modeling is typically based on seismic data, well data, and models of regional geology. However, structural interpretation of these data is error-prone, especially in the absence of structural morphology information, Existing geological surface models suffer from high levels of uncertainty, which exposes oil and gas exploration and development to additional risk. In this paper, we achieve a reconstruction of the uncertainties associated with a geological surface using chance-constrained programming based on multisource data. We also quantifi ed the uncertainty of the modeling data and added a disturbance term to the objective function. Finally, we verifi ed the applicability of the method using both synthetic and real fault data. We found that the reconstructed geological models met geological rules and reduced the reconstruction uncertainty.

Design of High-speed Sampling System in Pulse Laser Application

In measurement system by means of pulse laser, such as plasma measuring, laser ranging, the amplitude of echoed laser wave is very weak and difficult to detect by traditional analog electronic technology. A digital high speed data acquisition and processing system was designed to meet the accuracy requirement. It adopted high speed AD chip and advantage FPGA chip as core unit. Experiment results have verified this system can reach to 1GHz sample rate and can catch weak echo wave effectively and the measuring accuracy is improved markedly.
