This paper describes a sensitive spectrophotometric method developed for determination of Ketoconazole (KC) in tablets based on amplification reactions. Ketoconazole was oxidized with periodate, resulting in formation of KC2t and iodate ions. After masking the excess periodate with molybdate, the iodate was treated with iodide to release iodine. The liberated iodine was transformed to ICl2 species and extracted as ion-pair with rhodamine 6G into toluene for spectrophotometric measurement at 535 nm. A linear calibration graph was obtained between 0.2136 mg/mL and 1.7088 mg/mL of Ketoconazole with a molar absorptivity of 5 105 mol L 1 cm 1. The procedure was successfully applied for the determination of ketoconazole in tablet formulation. 展开更多

The study deals with stream response to sustained tectonic during the Cenozoic and development of two parallel scarps in the western Kachchh. The study encompasses fluvial networks developed over the Jara and Jumara domes, which are a part of the laterally extensive belt of flexures bounded by the Kachchh Mainland Fault(KMF) to their north and called as Northern Hill Range(NHR). Parameters such as longitudinal profile, Hack profile, stream length gradient index(SL), hypsometric curve, hypsometric integral(HI), valley floor width to height ratio(Vf), elongation ratio(Re) and escarpment sinuosity(ES) were analysed. Hack profiles of the major rivers draining through the area show similar convex up nature suggesting primary influence of the tectonics in controlling and shaping the landscape of the region. Elongation ratio <6 and undergone higher degree of fluvial erosion indicated by the low values of hypsometric integral suggest the tendency of river systems to increase the basin area longitudinally rather than laterally. The study suggests that higher net uplift in the eastern half(Jumara dome) caused the rivers to overcome the structural control and to carve out generally straight north oriented channels. The rivers of western part(Jara dome) show more prominent structural control of cuesta girdles formed in compact lithologies and attributed to the domal structure. The ~10 km long Jaramara scarp believed to the remnant of older KMF scarp, is a product of headward erosion of the fluvial channels through different hard and soft litho-units of the area. The similar orientation of Jaramara scarp and morphology of the Ukra intrusive body suggests that the Ukra intrusive played a significant role in controlling the formation and morphology of the Jaramara scarp. 展开更多

In this paper we have reported a simple and cost effective lab level experiment to determine the revolution of DC motor at various voltages. This experiment is designed on the basis of laser light pulses observed in cathode ray oscilloscope(CRO)output through an aperture. These output waveforms are directly related with the revolution of DC motor.A laser light beam was allowed to pass through a slot attached with the shaft of DC motor. The outcoming light is in the form of light pulses that falls on the photodetector which was connected to CRO.The frequency of light pulses is the function of applied voltage to DC motor. The CRO output was measured at different voltages. The visual waveforms on CRO interpret the different values of revolutions per minute(rpm)at different values of voltages given to DC motor.Analysis was made to determine the voltage depended revolution. 展开更多

Adaptation of microbial communities to anthropogenic stress has often been shown to involve reduction in diversity and in selective enrichment of species capable of survival. The gut bacterial community of pollution-stressed polychaete Neanthes chilkaensis was studied using cultivation dependent and independent approaches. The possible role of the gut bacteria in remediation of pollutants was also studied. The analysis of clones covering about 90% of the 16S rRNA clone library indicated that the majority of the taxa in the library resemble GenBank entries of aromatic- hydrocarbon pollutant degraders. Among them Firmicutes and Actinobacteria were dominant. About 84% of the gut isolates were capable of utilizing PAHs as sole carbon sources while 20% of isolates were found to produce biosurfactants. Production of surfactant along with capability to utilize PAH and other pollutants indicate the role of the gut community in alleviating the pollution stress. The results also show the potential source of microorganisms with industrial and environmental application. 展开更多

Estimation of NEE of Grasslands ecosystems becomes mandatory as these grasslands with their wide spread (almost 40% of land of the earth) and high plant diversity play a major role in global carbon balances and NEE at both local and global scale. The present study has been focused on understanding the role of different plant species responsible for variation in NEE of the Banni Grasslands of India. These grasslands form a belt of arid grassland having low growing forbs, graminoids and scattered tree cover. Due to its wide spread and inaccessibility of Banni, this study utilized spatial approach for evaluating carbon emissions and NEE. Landsat data was utilized for vegetation type classification and SMAP data for extraction of NEE values proved their potential for categorising vegetation type and generating NEE values precisely. Three major plant types were identified from the study area <i>viz.</i>, Grasslands, Land with <i>Acacia</i> and Land with <i>Prosopis</i>. Grasses were dominant covering 77% and the rest of the area was occupied by the other two classes, <i>i.e. Acacia</i> and <i>Prosopis</i>. The NEE values were higher for the grasses when compared to the other two plant species proving to be the active sinks when compared to other plants. The differential contribution of NEE by species has been depicted in the present work. 展开更多

We analyze the periodic orbits of “f” family (simply symmetric retrograde periodic orbits) and the regions of quasi-periodic motion around Saturn in the photo gravitational Sun-Saturn system in the framework of planar circular restricted three-body problem with oblateness. The location, nature and size of these orbits are studied using the numerical technique of Poincare surface of sections (PSS). In this paper we analyze these orbits for different solar radiation pressure (q) and actual oblateness coefficient of Sun Saturn system. It is observed that as Jacobi constant (C) increases, the number of islands in the PSS and consequently the number of periodic and quasi-periodic orbits increase. The periodic orbits around Saturn move towards the Sun with decrease in solar radiation pressure for given value of “C”. It is observed that as the perturbation due to solar radiation pressure decreases, the two separatrices come closer to each other and also come closer to Saturn. It is found that the eccentricity and semi major axis of periodic orbits at both separatrices are increased by perturbation due to solar radiation pressure. 展开更多

We analyze the periodic orbits, quasi periodic orbits and chaotic orbits in the photo gravitational Sun-Saturn system incorporating actual oblateness of Saturn in the planar circular restricted three body problem. In this paper, we study the effect of solar radiation pressure on the location of Sun centered and Saturn centered orbits, its diameter, semi major axis and eccentricity by taking different values of solar radiation pressure q and different values of Jacobi constant “C”, and by considering actual oblateness of Saturn using Poincare surface of section (PSS) method. It is ob-served that by the introduction of perturbing force due to solar radiation pressure admissible range of Jacobi constant C decreases, it is also observed that as value of C decreases the number of islands decreases and as a result the number of periodic and quasi periodic orbits decreases.Fur-ther, the periodic orbits around Saturn and Sun moves towards Sun by decreasing perturbation due to solar radiation pressure q for a specific choice of Jacobi constant C. It is also observed that due to solar radiation pressure, semi major axis and eccentricity of Sun centered periodic orbit reduces, whereas, due to solar radiation pressure uniform change in semi major axis and eccen-tricity of Saturn centered periodic orbits is observed. 展开更多

Evolution of periodic orbits in Sun-Mars and Sun-Earth systems are analyzed using Poincare surface of section technique and the effects of solar radiation pressure of bigger primary and actual oblateness of smaller primary on these orbits areconsidered. It is observed that solar radiation pressure of bigger primary has substantial effect on period, orbit’s shape, size and their position in the phase space. Since these orbits can be used for the design of low energy transfer trajectories, so perturbations due to solar radiation pressure has to be understood and should be taken care of during trajectory design. It is also verified that stability of such orbits are negligible so they can be used as transfer orbit. For each pair of solar radiation pressure q and Jacobi constant C we get two separatrices where stability of island becomes zero. In this paper, detailed stability analysis of periodic orbit having two loops is given when q = 0.9845. 展开更多

Dry powder inhaler Liposomes were prepared to investigate the effectiveness of pulmonary delivery of Colchicine and Budesonide for Idiopathic Pulmonary fibrosis. Budesonide(BUD) and Colchicine(COL) liposomes were prepared by thin layer film hydration method(TFH) using 1,2-Dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoglycerol sodium(DPPG), Hydrogenated Soyaphosphotidylcholine(HSPC), Soyaphosphatidylcholine(SPC), cholesterol(CHOL) and drug in different weight ratios. The optimum lipid composition for BUD(74.22 ± 0.97%) was DPPG:HSPC: CHOL(4:5:1) and for COL(50.94 ± 2.04%) was DPPG: SPC: CHOL(3:6:1). These compositions retained drug for a longer period of time so selected for further study. Liposomes were found to be spherical in shape with mean size below 100 nm. Liposomes lyophilized using Mannitol as carrier and cryoprotectant showed high entrapment efficiency(97.89-98.6%). The powder was dispersed through an Andersen cascade impactor to evaluate the performance of the aerosolized powder. It was found that prepared liposomal dry powder inhaler(DPIs) sustained the drug release up to 24 hours. Optimized Budesonide DPI Formulation B2(86.53 ± 1.9%), Colchicine DPI Formulation C2(90.54 ± 2.3 %) and BUD and COL DPI Combination M2(89.91 ± 1.8%, 91.23 ± 1.9%). Histopathological results, measurements of lung hydroxyproline content, Myeloperoxidase activity indicated that liposomal drypowder inhaler administration attenuates lung fibrosis induced by bleomycin. Long term stability studies indicated that lyophilised BUD and COL liposomes were stable for 6 months at(25 °C± 2 °C, 60% ± 5% RH) and refrigerated conditions(2-8 °C). These results supported that combination of budesonide and colchicine liposomal dry powder inhaler pulmonary drug delivery for treatment of idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis exhibits prolonged drug retention at targeted site and reduces the systemic exposure. 展开更多

Risk assessment and uncertainty approximation are two major and important parameters that need to be adopted for the development of pharmaceutical process to ensure reliable results.Additionally, there is a need to switch from the traditional method validation checklist to provide a high level of assurance of method reliability to measure quality attribute of a drug product. In the present work, evaluation of risk profile, combined standard uncertainty and expanded uncertainty in the analysis of acyclovir were studied.Uncertainty was calculated using cause-effect approach, and to make it more accurately applicable a method was validated in our laboratory as per the ICH guidelines. While assessing the results of validation, the calibration model was justified by the lack of fit and Levene's test.Risk profile represents the future applications of this method. In uncertainty the major contribution is due to sample concentration and mass. This work demonstrates the application of theoretical concepts of calibration model tests, relative bias, risk profile and uncertainty in routine methods used for analysis in pharmaceutical field. 展开更多

Dexamethasone—a potent synthetic glucocorticoid—has multiple diagnostic and therapeutic applications in wide range of age groups. However, the side-effects of dexamethasone (Dex) treatment including those on development are becoming increasingly apparent. Since the developmental processes are energy-dependent, we examined the effects of chronic Dex treatment on kinetics properties of liver mitochondrial F0.F1-ATPase and mitochondrial membrane lipid profiles in rats belonging to different developmental age groups (2, 3, 4 and 5 weeks) and in adults (~8 weeks). The animals were treated with a subcutaneous dose of 2 mg of Dex/kg body weight (or saline as vehicle) for three alternative days (at around 7.00 A.M.) prior to the day of sacrifice. Dex treatment resulted in significant reduction in F0.F1-ATPase activity in developmental age groups and in adults as compared to their age-matched vehicle-treated control group. The substrate kinetics analysis of F0.F1-ATPase resolved Km and Vmax values in 3 components in all the control age groups;whereas Dex treatment significantly altered the Km and Vmax values or abolished the entire components in age-specific manner. Dex treatment significantly lowered the energy of activation and altered phase transition temperature (TtoC) in all the developmental age groups and in adults. Dex treatment significantly increased the contents of total phospholipid (TPL), individual phospholipids classes and cholesterol (CHL) in all the developmental age groups whereas opposite pattern was observed in adults. The mitochondrial membrane became more fluidized in the developing age groups (2, 4 and 5 weeks);whereas no change was observed in 3-week and adult groups following Dex treatment. In present study, our data demonstrate comprehensive deleterious effects of chronic Dex treatment on liver mitochondrial membrane structure and F0.F1-ATPase functional properties with respect to energy metabolism. At the same time, our data also warns against excessive repeated use of antenatal DEX in treatments in growing and adult human patients. 展开更多

The AC Power Transmission Congestion Distribution factor (PTCDF) is suitable for computing change in any line quantity for a change in MW bilateral transaction. The proposed PTCDF method is more accurate as compared to the DC power distribution factor. With PTCDF ATC can be calculated. The low ion energy argon plasma was used for surface modification of Poly tetra fluoroethylene (PTFE) polymer. The plasma was generated between two plane metal electrode by using 50 kHz bipolar power supply. The plasma treated surface was characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The surface free energy (SFE) of plasma treated surface was calculated from contact angle measurement. SFE increases from 33.39 mJ/m2 to 41.40 mJ/m2 with the increase in plasma treatment time and the corresponding contact angle changed from 76? to 60?. XPS study shows that F/C ratio change from 1.8 (untreated) to 1.3 (treated) and O/C ratio changes from 0.094 (untreated) to 0.148 (treated). The XPS analysis shows that both F1s and the C1s spectra for PTFE are marginally modified by plasma treatment. AFM study shows that the average surface roughness (Ra) increased from 8.5 nm to 22.8 nm after plasma treatment. Vicker’s micro hardness of the film increases upon plasma treatment. The increase in SFE after plasma treatment is attributed to the functionalization of the polymer surface with hydrophilic groups as supported from the above observations. 展开更多

We performed theoretical investigations on self-energy, screening charge density, screened potential and pair distribu- tion function for a doped single layer graphene. Random phase approximation density-density response function and graphene’s massless Diracfermions concept have been used in our calculations. Local field effects have been included using Hubbard approximation to go beyond random phase approximation. Ultraviolet wave vector cutoff has been used to exclude the effect of vacuum states. Our computed self energy of graphene though displays a behavour similar to that of 2DEG, its magnitude differs drastically from that of 2DEG. Freidel oscillations are seen in computed screened potential and density of screening charge of graphene, which can be seen as a signature of Fermi liquid state in doped graphene. In agreement with experimental results, our computed pair distribution function, as a function of carrier density, suggests that exchange and correlation terms make negligible contribution to compressibility of graphene. Incorporation of LFC reduces the magnitude of self energy, screening charge density and screened potential. 展开更多
