Methods:Patients with lumbar disc herniation who were treated in the Seventh People's Hospital of Shanghai between March 2015 and February 2017 were selected as the LDH group and patients with violent thoracolumbar vertebral fracture were selected as the control group. The intervertebral disc tissue was collected to determine the mRNA expression of PDCD5 as well as the protein levels of apoptosis molecules, inflammatory factors and MMPs/TIMPs molecules. Results: PDCD5 mRNA expression in intervertebral disc tissue of LDH group was significantly higher than that of control group;Caspase-3, Caspase-8, Fas, Caspase-9, Bax, SDF-1, CXCR-4, TNF-α, PGE2, MMP1, MMP2, MMP8 and MMP9 protein levels in intervertebral disc tissue of LDH group were significantly higher than those of control group and positively correlated with PDCD5 mRNA expression while TIMP1 and TIMP2 protein levels were significantly lower than those of control group and negatively correlated with PDCD5 mRNA expression. Conclusion: The high expression of PDCD5 in degenerated intervertebral disc tissue can activate apoptosis and inflammatory response and cause MMPs/TIMPs imbalance.展开更多

However, the mechanism is not clear. The present study was to investigate the role of p38 MAPK in acute pancreatitis in mice.METHODS: Mice were divided into 4 groups: saline control; acute pancreatitis induced with repeated injections of cerulein; control plus p38 MAPK inhibitor SB203580; and acute pancreatitis plus SB203580. The pancreatic histology, pancreatic enzymes, cytokines, myeloperoxidase activity, p38 MAPK and heat shock protein (HSP) 60 and 70 were evaluated.RESULTS: Repeated injections of cerulein resulted in acute pancreatitis in mice, accompanying with the activation of p38 MAPK and overexpression of HSP60 and HSP70 in the pancreatic tissues. Treatment with SB203580 significantly inhibited the activation of p38 MAPK, and furthermore, inhibited the expression of HSP60 and HSP70 in the pancreas, the inflammatory cytokines in the serum, and myeloperoxidase activity in the lung.CONCLUSION: The p38 MAPK signaling pathway is involved in the regulation of inflammatory response and the expression of HSP60 and HSP70 in acute pancreatitis.展开更多

Tissue samples from these miners presented pathological characteristics, such as fibroplasia in carcinomas, peri-cancerous tissue in lung cancers, and hyperplasia and dysplasia of epithelial cells in peri-cancerous tissue. Carcinomas induced by Yunnan tin mine dust in the animal experiment underwent inflammation, fibroplasia, hyperplasia, dysplasia, and carcinogenesis of epithelial ceils. A correlated and synergistic relationship was observed between bronchial epithelial cell transformation and fibroblast activation in vitro induced by mine dust. Fibroblast hyperplasia and activation are important factors that promote the transformation and carcinogenesis of epithelial cells. Our findings suggested that pulmonary fibrosis may increase the risk and promote the occurrence of lung cancer, which can lead to lun~ fiber hyperplasia.展开更多
