The results showed that tuina had a better regulatory effect for subhealth status. In the selection of the position for tuina application, tuina was predominantly applied to the whole body, guided by the holistic viewpoint and meridian theory of Chinese medicine, especially on the Governor Vessel and Bladder Meridian of the back and on the area the patient felt uncomfortable. In terms of tuina techniques, the routine relaxing technique, tendon-regulating technique and acupoint-pressing technique were used in predominance. In terms of the therapeutic time and course, although the reports were different in various literatures, it was believed in most reports that 50 min and 2-4 sessions per week were appropriate. The therapeutic aim could be achieved by 15-20 sessions. Without pain from the needles and suffering in taking drugs, tuina has a better psychological regulatory effect, therefore it has a better prospect for popular application. But, the basic study on the explanation of its functional mechanism by modern medical theory and means needs to be intensified.展开更多

It entails an exclusive methodology in addressing politics, philosophy and everything in the universe. This concept has permeated into all aspects of traditional Chinese culture. As an ancient therapy, tuina is an important part of Chinese medicine and has its characteristic theory and methods. Just like Chinese medicine, tuina has long been greatly influenced by the concept of golden mean. To better promote the development of tuina, it's necessary to investigate the historical evolution of tuina and the concept of golden mean as well as the influence of 'golden mean' idea on tuina manipulation, mechanism and treatment.展开更多

This is caused by unstable joints or soft tissue inflammation that irritates or compresses the vessels and nerves. Contributing factors include hyperplasia of the cervical spine, cervical intervertebral disc herniation, decreased intervertebral foramen, facet derangement and surrounding soft tissue injuries. Long-term sedentary lifestyle also played a role in developing this condition. We have treated 142 cases using combined tuina and acupuncture. The results are now reported as follows.展开更多

Methods:A total of 45 non-pregnant Wistar rats were randomly divided into a control group, a model group and a WAA group, 15 rats in each group. Rats in the model group and the WAA group received continuous abdominal subcutaneous injection of Diethylstilbestrol to establish dysmenorrhea rat models. On the first day after modeling, rats in the WAA group began to receive acupuncture on Point Lower 1 and Point Lower 2, once a day for 10 d. The control group and the model group didn’t receive any treatment. Writhing latencies and frequencies were recorded.β-EP and NO in uterus tissue homogenates and PGF2α, SP in serum were detected. Results:In the model group,β-EP and NO levels were the lowest among the groups, the serum PGF2α level was the highest, and serum SP level was the lowest. These measurements showed significantly difference between the model group and the control group (P〈0.05). PGF2α in the WAA group was lower than that in the model group;β-EP, NO and SP levels were higher than those in the model group, with inter-group statistically significant differences (P〈0.05). Conclusion: WAA may achieve analgesic effect through decreasing PGF2α, increasingβ-EP, NO and SP to relieve uterine cramps, increase blood flow and promote functional improvement.展开更多

Results: The drop-out, recovery, improvement and failure cases, recovery rate and total effective rate in the observation group were 1, 15, 20, 0, 42.9% and 100% respectively, versus 2, 6, 23, 5, 17.6% and 85.3% in the control group, showing significant differences in recovery rate and total effective rate(P<0.05). As for health economics, the cost-effect in the observation group was better than that in the control group. Conclusion: Compared with tuina alone, tuina combined with auricular point sticking can obtain better effect and lower cost in health economics for cervical radiculopathy.

文摘The literatures of the recent ten years about tuina(massage) therapy in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) for regulating and treating the subhealth status were searched and analyzed to understand the current thought and methods for the regulation and treatment of subhealth status by tuina. But, the basic study on the explanation of its functional mechanism by modern medical theory and means needs to be intensified.

文摘The concept of golden mean (Zhong Yong), i.e. moderation, is the highest principle of moral cultivation in Confucianism. To better promote the development of tuina, it's necessary to investigate the historical evolution of tuina and the concept of golden mean as well as the influence of 'golden mean' idea on tuina manipulation, mechanism and treatment.

文摘Cervical headache is a clinical syndrome[1] characterized by headache and pain radiating to the neck, shoulder and arms. The results are now reported as follows.

文摘Objective:To observe effects of wrist-ankle acupuncture (WAA) onβ-endorphin (EP), nitric oxide (NO) in uterus tissue and prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α), substance P (SP) in serum of rats with primary dysmenorrhea. Conclusion: WAA may achieve analgesic effect through decreasing PGF2α, increasingβ-EP, NO and SP to relieve uterine cramps, increase blood flow and promote functional improvement.
