This study compared the chemical composition of wild sea cucumber Isostichopus sp., between February 2013 and January 2014. Sea cucumbers were captured by hand by artisanal fishermen and transported alive to the laboratory of Aquaculture of the Universidad del Magdalena (Colombia), where they were subsequently killed and taken to freeze until analysis. For proximate analysis 20 g of muscle were used for each sample. The analysis (in triplicate) was performed according to [1]. Significant differences (p Isostichopus sp. was similar to that reported for fresh sea cucumbers internationally traded, which indicates that it is a species with a competitive commercial value for use in food.展开更多

They are commonly eaten as dry-salted. Thus, a dry-salting protocol for cucumbers includes the processes of: gutting, cooking, salting, drying and packing. Drying trials were conducted at 50℃ and 60℃ in an oven and air-dried, with no difference (P > 0.05) in yield observed between them. Protein content varied depending on the type of drying, while fat content did not change significantly (P > 0.05). Final yield ranged between 5% to 7% of initial mass, with the main losses in mass (due to water loss) registered in the gutting and cooking stages. The sea cucumbers dried in an oven at 60℃ reached the humidity goal faster and there were statistically significant differences (P Isostichopus sp. aff badionotus is for consumers a viable alternative source of protein.展开更多

However, it can be objectively measured from the heart autonomic activity. In the present study, the validity and reliability of a system for recording heart rate variability are demonstrated. Twelve prototypes were created and paired with standard electrocardiogram. Long segments with cardiac pulse recordings were used within ten minutes. A highly significant correlation index (p < 0.01) and a significantly high Cronbach’s alpha were obtained. In the variance analysis, all data analyzed presented a value of p < 0.05. It is concluded that there is no significant variation between paired systems;therefore, the attention detection system based on heart rate variability is valid and reliable.展开更多
