The bifacial silicon solar cell, placed at temperature (T) and illuminated from the back side by monochromatic light in frequency modulation (ω), is studied from the frequency dynamic diffusion equation, relative to the density of excess minority carriers in the base. The expressions of the dynamic recombination velocities of the minority carriers on the rear side of the base Sb1(D(ω, T);H) and Sb2(α, D(ω, T);H), are analyzed as a function of the dynamic diffusion coefficient (D(ω, T)), the absorption coefficient (α(λ)) and the thickness of the base (H). Thus their graphic representation makes it possible to go up, to the base optimum thickness (Hopt(ω, T)), for different temperature values and frequency ranges of modulation of monochromatic light, of strong penetration. The base optimum thickness (Hopt(ω, T)) decreases with temperature, regardless of the frequency range and allows the realization of the solar cell with few material (Si). 展开更多

The relationship between hydrodynamic mesoscale structures and plankton formation in the wake of an island, as well as its interaction with a coastal upwelling, is investigated. Our focus is on the process by which vortices create localized plankton blooms. A basic three-component model for marine ecology was utilized, as well as a coupled system of kinematic flow that mimicked the mesoscale features underlying the island. We show that the prevalence of localized plankton blooms is produced mostly by the prolonged residence times of nutrients and plankton in the island’s vicinity, as well as the confinement of plankton within vortices. 展开更多

The objective of this work is to analyze the spatial distribution of biases of nine (9) regional climate models (RCMs) and their ensemble average used under the framework of COordinated Regional climate Downscaling EXperiment (CORDEX) project over West Africa during the summer period. We assessed the ability of RCMs to represent adequately West African summer rainfall by analyzing some statistical parameters such as the relative bias, the standard deviation, the root mean square error (RMSE) and the correlation coefficient between observation data (GPCP used as reference) and regional climate models outputs. We first analyzed the relative bias between GPCP climatology and the other available observed data (CRU, CMAP, UDEL, GPCC, TRMM and their ensemble mean). This analysis highlights the big uncertainty on the quality of these observed rainfall data over West Africa which may be largely due to the rarity of?in situ?measurement data over this region. The statistical analysis with respect to GPCP rainfall shows the presence of large relative bias values over most part of West Africa for engaged RCMs. However their ensemble mean outperforms individual RCMs by exhibiting the weakest relative change. The RMSE values are weak over West Africa except over and off the Guinea highlands for RCMs and the Era-interim reanalysis. The spatial distribution of the coefficient of correlation between the observation data and RCMs shows that all models (except HIRHAM) present positive values over the Northern Sahel and the Gulf of Guinea. The model of the DMI exhibits the weakest values of correlation coefficient. This study shows that RCMs simulate West African climate in a satisfactory way despite the fact that they exhibit systematic biases. 展开更多

The excess of certain elements in drinking water causes health problem for people consuming these waters. In Senegal, the excessive levels of fluoride and salts found in the groundnut basin cause public health problem such as dental and/or skeletal fluorosis. Thus, the treatment of such waters is essential before consumption to prevent health problems. For a partial removal of fluoride and salinity, we tested the performance of two commercial nanofiltration membranes namely TFC-SR3 and SelRO MPF-34 at laboratory scale. The results showed that TFC-SR3 membrane was very efficient with rejection rates of 83% - 96% for fluoride ions and 89% - 96% for salinity. For SelRo MPF-34 membrane, retention rates of 25% - 52% were obtained for fluoride ions and 24% - 60% for the salinity. 展开更多

Fluoride excess in drinking water is noticed in many countries around the world and particularly in Senegal where, in addition to fluoride excess, high levels of salinity are also encountered. In order to reduce fluoride excess in drinking water in the groundnut basin of Senegal, two types of clays namely montmorillonite KSF and montmorillonite K10 as well were used as adsorbent materials. The results show that the pH which was initially alkaline becomes acidic varying from 2.80 to 6.80. The pseudo first-order kinetic model fit well with the adsorption experiments for KSF montmorillonite (<em>r</em><sup>2</sup> = 0.96), while for K10 clay the same model describe the experiments with slight differences (<em>r</em><sup>2 </sup>= 0.90). The KSF clay has a better fluoride adsorption capacity compared to that obtained with K10 clay due to the presence of a great level of calcium oxide in the montmorilonite KSF clay. 展开更多

Intake Nutritional Variabilities of Saba senegalensis Fruits

Despite its economic potential, its nutritional potential is unknown. The objective of this study is to characterize its fruits according to Senegal’s main production areas. The study included five samples from five geographical areas of Senegal. Parameters measured include pH, protein, lipids, ash, moisture, vitamin C, carotenoids, polyphenols, minerals, and sugars. The results showed that for moisture, proteins, lipids, pH and reducing sugars did not differ significantly (p 0.05%) for all accessions. Vitamin C content varies between 32.86 and 198.22 mg&middot;100g<sup>-</sup><sup>1</sup>, carotenoids with a content of between 5.05 and 9.12 mg&middot;100g<sup>-</sup><sup>1</sup>;polyphenol contents are between 1.17 and 2.56 g&middot;100g<sup>-</sup><sup>1</sup>. The nutritional value of Saba fruits appears to be homogeneous in Senegal. A thorough study of the functional molecules seems necessary for a better appreciation of the potential of this fruit. 展开更多

Thermochemical Characterization of Casamance Biomass Residues for Production of Combustibles Briquettes

The development of alternatives energies illustrates the common interest of all countries in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and combating climate change. Thermochemical treatment of municipal solid waste, agricultural and forestry wastes is a major challenge for this XXIst century to replace petroleum fuels. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) makes it possible to elucidate the thermal behavior of Casamance (Senegal) biomass residues, mass losses and decomposition rate, under inert (N2) atmosphere and oxidizing (O2) atmosphere. Carbonization and briquetting techniques of these various residues encountered in this part of Senegal country, by densification in order to produce fuel briquettes (call biochars) will be used to improve stoves for cooking. Samples used in this study are peanuts shells (PNS), cashew nut shells (CNS), palm nut shells (PLS) and millet stems (MS). Elemental and approximate analyses make it possible to determine the CHNSO* composition, volatile matter, fixed carbon and ashes content of the samples used. Higher heating values (HHV) of the former residues are ranging from 28.60 MJ&middot;kg-1, 26.51 MJ&middot;kg-1, 29.69 MJ&middot;kg-1 and 24.93 MJ&middot;kg-1 respectively. The chars are obtained by slow pyrolysis with a heating rate of 5&deg;C&middot;min-1 from ambient temperature up to 800&deg;C under inert atmosphere. The morphology of the samples is different for the four biomasses studied, from biomass in the form of wood fibers to a more compact biomass. The parietal composition of different samples presented was determined by Van Soest method using neutral detergents (NDS), acid detergent (ADS) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4, 72%);to solubilize successively extractable, hemicellulose and cellulose respectively;lignin was obtained by balance (Table 2). The samples show a high level of cellulose, this pseudo-component is very rich in carbon directly linked to the calorific value, whose values vary from 32.35%;24.20%;34.94% and 39.67% for PNS, PLS, CNS and MS respectively. 展开更多

For this same magnetic field, the diffusion coeffi-cient of the photogenerated carriers by a monochromatic light in frequency modulation enters into resonance, at the frequency (ω<sub>c</sub>). Under this double resonance in temperature and frequency, the diffusion coefficient is used in the expression of the recombination velocity of the minority charge carriers on the back side of the base of the solar cell (n<sup>+</sup>/p/p<sup>+</sup>), to obtain, by a graphical method, the optimum thickness. This work involves an investigation of nanostructures, microelectronic properties and domain engineering of nanoparticles thin layers of Pb(Zn1/ 3Nb2/3)O3-PbTiO3 (PZN-PT) ferroelectric single crystals deposited on nanostructured silicon substrate. In this study, devices made from PZN-4.5PT nanoparticles thin films successfully deposited on silicon substrate have been studied and discussed. SEM images show the formation of local black circles and hexagonal shapes probably due to the nucleation of a new Si-gel component or phase induced by annealing. Micro Xray Fluorescence mapping shows that the high values of Si and B atoms (&cong;7 and 4 normalized unit respectively) can be explained by the fact that the substrate is p-type silicon. The most interesting result of optical measurements is the very good absorption for all the thin films in UV, Visible and NIR regions with values from 70% to 90% in UV, from 75% to 93% in Visible and NIR. Tauc plots present particularities (rarely encountered behavior) with different segments or absorption changes showing the presence of multiple band gaps coming from the heterogeneity of the thin films (nanowires, gel and nanoparticles). Their values are 1.9 and 2.8 eV for DKRN-Gel, 2.1 and 3.1 eV for DKRN-UD and 2.1 and 3.2 eV for DKRN-D) corresponding respectively to the band gap of nanowires and that of the gel while the last ones correspond to the undoped and doped nanoparticles (3.1 and 3.2 eV respectively). 展开更多

In Senegal, this phenomenon continues to grow, making soils unsuitable for agriculture. To rehabilitate salty lands, one of the recommended strategies is the use of salt-tolerant plants. Among them, plants of </span><i><i><span style="font-family:Verdana;">Casuarinaceae</span></i></i><span style="font-family:Verdana;"> family form a relationship with symbiotic microorganisms such as arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and nitrogen fixing bacteria. It has been shown that symbiotic microorganisms play an important role in the establishment of tolerant plants in saline conditions (Djighaly </span><i><i><span style="font-family:Verdana;">et al</span></i></i><span style="font-family:Verdana;">., 2018). They improve plant performance and reduce transplant shock under salt stress conditions (Diagne </span><i><i><span style="font-family:Verdana;">et al</span></i></i><span style="font-family:Verdana;">., 2014). These microorganisms can be used as biofertilizers. However, inocula containing symbiotic microorganisms are either too expensive or unavailable in many developing countries. The aim of this study is to test alternatively affordable and low-tech solutions to promote symbiotic interactions such as Casuarina crushed nodule, Casuarina rhizosphere soil and Casuarina leaves compost that may contain symbiotic microorganisms and also nutrients such as N and phosphorus. Two species of Casuarina (</span><i><i><span style="font-family:Verdana;">Casuarina equisetifolia</span></i></i><span style="font-family:Verdana;"> L. and </span><i><i><span style="font-family:Verdana;">Casuarina obesa</span></i></i><span style="font-family:Verdana;"> Miq.) were grown in the greenhouse on sterile soil to which an amendment was added (Casuarina crushed nodules, Casuarina Rhizospheric soil or Casuarina leaves compost). Plants were subjected to saline stress. After four months of cultivation, they were harvested and morphological and physiological parameters were determined. Results showed that inoculation with Casuarina crushed nodules, Casuarina rhizospheric soil and Casuarina leaves compost improved growth, total dry biomass, total chlorophyll and proline contents of </span><i><i><span style="font-family:Verdana;">C. equisetifolia</span></i></i><span style="font-family:Verdana;"> and </span><i><i><span style="font-family:Verdana;">C. obesa</span></i></i><span style="font-family:Verdana;"> plants in salt stress condition. Electrical Instability in Pentacene Transistors with Mylar and PMMA/Mylar Gate Dielectrics Transferred by Lamination Process

This study deals with electrical instability under bias stress in pentacene-based transistors with gate dielectrics deposited by a lamination process. Mylar film is laminated onto a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate, on which aluminum (Al) gate is deposited, followed by evaporation of organic semiconductor and gold (Au) source/drain contacts in bottom gate top contact configuration (Device 1). In order to compare the influence of the semiconductor/dielectric interface, a second organic transistor (Device 2) which is different from the Device 1 by the deposition of an intermediate layer of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) onto the laminated Mylar dielectric and before evaporating pentacene layer is fabricated. The critical device parameters such as threshold voltage (V<sub>T</sub>), subthreshold slope (S), mobility (μ), onset voltage (V<sub>on</sub>) and I<sub>on</sub>/I<sub>off</sub> ratio have been studied. The results showed that the recorded hysteresis depend on the pentacene morphology. Moreover, after bias stress application, the electrical parameters are highly modified for both devices according to the regimes in which the transistors are operating. In ON state regime, Device 1 showed a pronounced threshold voltage shift associated to charge trapping, while keeping the μ, I<sub>off</sub> current and S minimally affected. Regardless of whether Device 2 exhibited better electrical performances and stability in ON state, we observed a bias stress-induced increase of depletion current and subthreshold slope in subthreshold region, a sign of defect creation. The latter also highlighted azygos continuation, retro aortic renal vein and an iliac venous anomaly. These variants are important to know in order to be able to differentiate them from lymphadenopathy, para-vertebral masses, and aortic pathologies. The present work relates to a process for silicon surface texturing for preparing large-area, silicon nanotextures on silicon substrates at ambient temperature by assisted chemical etching. A novel strategy comprises of two fundamental steps (metal-assisted chemical etching (MACE) and solution post-treatment) of using the silver catalyst to obtain specific nano- or micro-textures. The strategy is based on metal-induced (Ag) local oxidation and dissolution of a silicon substrate in three different concentrations of aqueous fluoride solution with the post-treatment solution. The etching technique is dependent on the etching time and concentration of aqueous fluoride solution. Therefore, detailed scanning electron microscopy observations reveal specifics shapes as inverted pyramids, cubic nano-microholes, spiroconical nano-microholes and rhombohedral-stared nanosheet bouquets (called Nanobukets), obtained for the first time on a (100) silicon surface by this new variant of the MACE method named Double Etching Method (DEM). Silicon nanostructures are used in many nanotechnology applications such as nano-microelectronics, optoelectronics or biomedical applications. UV-Visible spectrometry measurements carried out made it possible to obtain the lowest reflectance and highest absorbance values who are 3% and 97%, respectively for the rhomboedral-stared nanosheet bouquets on (100) crystalline silicon substrates in the UV-visible-NIR wavelength range from 300 to 1200 nm. 展开更多

Meckel’s diverticulum is a common pathology in children and rare in adults. We present a case of a 79-year-old patient in which a significant gastrointestinal bleeding, whose paraclinical explorations confirmed a fatty tumor of the terminal ileum. The exploratory coelioscopy revealed a tumor of the Meckel diverticulum complicated of intestinal invagination, resected at the same time with resection and extracorporeal anastomosis by mini coelio-guided laparotomy. Histology confirmed the presence of heterotopical tissue of the duodenal mucosa with Brunner cells and a carcinoid tumor. In conclusion, this clinical case shows that coelioscopy can be considered a very important diagnostic and therapeutic tool in this pathology especially in the elderly. 展开更多
