Its aim was to assess the nutritional status and associated factors of infants aged between 6 and 23 months. This descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in the health centers of the action zone during medical consultations in community medicine from 13 to 22 February 2023. For this purpose, 53.0% of a sample of 398 mothers of infants aged 6 - 23 months were male, and the most represented age group was 12 - 23 months with 53.8%. Mothers were asked about the diet of their children. All the children involved in this study were vaccinated, whereas 99.2% were given vitamin A supplements. The most frequent illnesses in this age group were acute respiratory infection (ARI) (73.4%), fever (66.6%), diarrhea (53.8%), and vomiting (40.5%). Analysis of nutritional status showed that infants had severe (8.3%) and moderate (70.4%) acute malnutrition. Factors associated with infant nutritional status comprised the occupation of mother (P = 0.009), level of education of mother (P = 0.0625), and prolonged diarrhea (P = 0.004). To remedy this problem, concrete nutritional and educational interventions are needed to promote optimal infant nutrition during the first two years of life.展开更多

Currently in South Kivu, most universities have an information system in the form of a database made up of several disparate files. This makes it difficult to use this data efficiently and profitably. The aim of this study is to develop this transactional database-based information system into a data warehouse-oriented system. This tool will be able to collect, organize and archive data on the student’s career path, year after year, and transform it for analysis purposes. In the age of Big Data, a number of artificial intelligence techniques have been developed, making it possible to extract useful information from large databases. This extracted information is of paramount importance in decision-making. By way of example, the information extracted by these techniques can be used to predict which stream a student should choose when applying to university. In order to develop our contribution, we analyzed the IT information systems used in the various universities and applied the bottom-up method to design our data warehouse model. We used the relational model to design the data warehouse.展开更多

R.Br that are not yet well known. The HPLC-DAD-MS-ESI+ method was used to investigate the chemical profile, the disc diffusion and microdilution method for the antimicrobial activities, the DPPH and FRAP assays for antioxidant property and SYBR Green I-based growth inhibition assay on Pf 3D7 (CQ-sensitive) strain for antiplasmodial properties. The results indicated significant amounts of hydroxybenzoic acid, flavonol and hydroxycinnamic acid in the two species. The total polyphenols analysis gave 209.0 ± 16.1 mg GAE/100g DW for P. erici-rosenii and 175.3 ± 1.6 mg GAE/100g DW for L. martinicensis while for total flavonoids analysis 33.4 ± 1.8 mg TE/100g DW was found for P. erici-rosenii and 39.6 ± 0.6 mg TE/100g DW for L. martinicensis. Moreover, antimicrobial tests revealed 0.125 mg/mL on E. faecalis ATCC25922 for ethanol extracts P. erici-rosenii and L. martinicensis. The antioxidant assays revealed IC50 56.17 μg/mL and 78.43 μg/mL for DPPH assay, and 112.03 μM TE/100mL and 90.46 μM TE/100mL) for FRAP assay for ethanol extracts of P. erici-rosenii and L. martinicensis respectively. Finally, for Antiplasmodial activity, IC50 was 4.07 μg/mL for P. erici-rosenii and 12.29 μg/mL for L. martinicensis. Therefore, the antimicrobial, the antioxidant, and the antiplasmodial results suggest that the ethanolic extracts of the aerial parts of P. erici-rosenii and L. martinicensis contain compounds with antimicrobial, antioxidant, and antiplasmodial properties, which can be searched in new drug discovery for treatment of infectious diseases.展开更多

The aims of this study were to investigate the effects of different levels of urea supplementation on nutrients intake, digestibility, growth performance, feed efficiency and economics in growing camels fed roughage based complete pellet diets. In the present study, eighteen growing camels with an average live body weight of306.17 ± 2.05 kg were randomly assigned in three treatments: T1 = roughage complete pellet diet without urea,T2 = T1 plus 1% urea, and T3 = T1 plus 2% urea. The results showed that the urea supplementation significantly affected average daily feed and nutrient intake of dry matter(DM), organic matter(OM), crude protein(CP), neutral detergent fiber(NDF), and acid detergent fiber(ADF)(P < 0.05).On the contrary, the average daily intake of nitrogen free extract(NFE) and water were not influenced by increasing urea supplementation(P > 0.05). Similarly, digestion coefficient of DM, CP, ether extract(EE),crude fiber(CF) and ADF was influenced by increasing urea level(P < 0.05), while the digestion coefficient of OM, NFE and NDF was not affected by increasing urea level(P > 0.05). The intake of digestive nutrients was similar among all treatment groups. Total body live weight gain and average daily gain were significantly higher in urea supplemented groups(P < 0.05) than in the control group. The supplementation of urea at 1% in low quality roughage complete pellet diets significantly improved(P < 0.05) the feed efficiency. In conclusion, these results indicated that the incorporation of urea at 1% in roughage based complete pellet diets could positively improve nutrients intake, digestibility, growth performance and feed conversion efficiency of growing camels.展开更多
