We focused on key aspects of forest governance for biodiver- sity conservation in implementing new climate change policies. The national forest institutions must be adaptive to identify the existing pitfalls of prior conservation policies to take advantage of new climate change policies. Strengthening roles and technical capacity of national institutions for systematic biodiversity monitoring and carbon stock assessment is required in developing and least developed countries. Community participation needs careful analysis to ensure equitable ac- cess of particular social groups to local decision-making processes and to sustain optional livelihoods. The livelihood options around forest reserves or protected areas must be taken into account to enhance forest-based adaptation. 展开更多

As an important connection between the West and the East,the Silk Road has greatly promoted the cooperation between countries and regions.Transportation infrastructure plays a key role in the economic development and cultural exchanges,which has promoted the development of regions and cities along the Silk Road.Based on previous literature,combining the comparative advantage theory in economics with the transportation corridor and regional development theory,this paper divides the evolution of the Silk Road into three historical periods,and explores the economic motives for the development from the ancient Silk Road to the contemporary Belt and Road,as well as the impacts of transportation construction on the regional and urban development along the Belt and Road.The paper concludes that transportation infrastructure has a positive impact on the development of regions along the Belt and Road,which also influences the rise and fall of cities along the road.The paper comprehensively applies the theory of the comparative advantage and the theory of transportation and regional development,and proposes that economical mutual benefit and integration of transportation construction and regional development will play a key role in the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative. 展开更多

Based on the relatively developed highway and road network in China's eastern coastal provinces, the public transit-oriented development model(TOD) for village-town communities aims to create a network connecting the urban and rural public transportation system and the public service system, by selectively constructing "urban-type" communities with bus stops, thus promoting the mobility of urban and rural factors and to optimize the public service system, so as to change the traditional top-down development mode with tree structure. Through the planning practice in Linyi County, Dezhou City, it is found that a TOD-based spatial development mode in village-town communities can provide references for new countryside planning and construction in China in terms of upgrading the urban-rural functional structure, satisfying local demands, optimizing local government decisions, improving the planning mode, etc. 展开更多
