Density functional theory study of H, C and O chemisorption on UN(001) and(111) surfaces

We performed density functional theory calculations of H, C, and O chemisorption on the UN(001) and(111) surfaces using the generalized gradient approximation(GGA) and the Hubbard U parameter and revised Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof(RPBE) exchange-correlation functional at non-spin polarized level with the periodic slab model. Chemisorption energies vs. distance of molecules from UN(001) and UN(111) surfaces have been optimized for four symmetrical chemisorption sites, respectively. The results show that the Hollow, N-top, and Hollow adsorption sites are the most stable sites for H, C, and O atoms with chemisorption energies of 13.06,25.50 and 27.34 kJ/mol for UN(001) surface, respectively. From the point of adsorbent(UN(001) and UN(111)surfaces in this paper), interaction of O with the chemisorbed surface is of the maximum magnitude, then C and H, which are in agreement with electronegativities of individual atoms. For the UN(001) surface, U-N bond lengths change relatively little(< 9%) as a result of H chemisorption, however C and O chemisorptions result in remarkable changes for U-N bond lengths in interlayer(> 10%). Electronic structure calculations indicate that Bridge position is equivalent with Hollow position, and the most stable chemisorption position for H, C,and O atoms are all Bridge(or Hollow) position for the UN(111) surface. Calculated electronic density of states(DOSs) demonstrate electronic charge transfer between s, p orbitals in chemisorbed atoms and U 6d, 5f orbitals. 展开更多

For a CdZnTe digital γ detector system, different extraction algorithms for pulse amplitude and smoothing of energy spectrum are discussed in this paper. The results show that extraction of pulse amplitude using the first-order derivative method and smoothing of energy spectrum using the wavelet transformation method may obtain energy spectrum with good performance. 展开更多

A time-of-flight polarized neutron imaging setup was realized by integrating an in situ pumped polarized ^(3)He spin filter and energy dispersive neutron camera on the neutron technique development beamline(BL-20)of the China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS).Test experiments were performed with a solenoid with aluminum wire as a sample.These demonstrated that polarized radiography with a field of view in diameter 2.0 cm at different wavelengths can be obtained.The wavelength-dependent polarization was used to distinguish the neutron polarization behavior for different positions inside and outside the solenoid.The results of this work show the possibility of applying the technique at CSNS and marks a milestone for future polarized neutron imaging developments. 展开更多

SAR Image Change Detection Algorithm Based on Different Empirical Mode Decomposition

Empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is a data-driven and multi-scale transform theory, and it is a nonlinear and non-stationary signal processing theory. But each EMD decomposition theory has its advantages and disadvantages. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging is an important remote sensing technique to obtain the change information, and SAR image data belongs to non-stationary signal. So EMD is very suitable for SAR image processing. There are two kinds of typical EMD theories, which are the ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) and bidimensional empirical mode decomposition (BEMD). Based on the deep study of the two methods, this paper proposed a new SAR image change detection algorithm, which is called the FCD-EMD algorithm, i.e. fusion change detection based on EMD. So FCD-EMD algorithm can obtain more accurate information, which not only includes the directional information obtained by EEMD, but also can contain the spatial information got by BEMD. The main contribution of the FCD-EMD algorithm is to fuse the detail information in different directions, so that the results obtained are more accurate than the individual method. On the other hand, it can reduce the influence of speckle noise in SAR images by feature selections. The actual SAR image data verify the algorithm proposed in this paper and good experimental results are obtained, which show that the new method is feasible. 展开更多

Deep Convolutional Feature Fusion Model for Multispectral Maritime Imagery Ship Recognition

Combining both visible and infrared object information, multispectral data is a promising source data for automatic maritime ship recognition. In this paper, in order to take advantage of deep convolutional neural network and multispectral data, we model multispectral ship recognition task into a convolutional feature fusion problem, and propose a feature fusion architecture called Hybrid Fusion. We fine-tune the VGG-16 model pre-trained on ImageNet through three channels single spectral image and four channels multispectral images, and use existing regularization techniques to avoid over-fitting problem. Hybrid Fusion as well as the other three feature fusion architectures is investigated. Each fusion architecture consists of visible image and infrared image feature extraction branches, in which the pre-trained and fine-tuned VGG-16 models are taken as feature extractor. In each fusion architecture, image features of two branches are firstly extracted from the same layer or different layers of VGG-16 model. Subsequently, the features extracted from the two branches are flattened and concatenated to produce a multispectral feature vector, which is finally fed into a classifier to achieve ship recognition task. Furthermore, based on these fusion architectures, we also evaluate recognition performance of a feature vector normalization method and three combinations of feature extractors. Experimental results on the visible and infrared ship (VAIS) dataset show that the best Hybrid Fusion achieves 89.6% mean per-class recognition accuracy on daytime paired images and 64.9% on nighttime infrared images, and outperforms the state-of-the-art method by 1.4% and 3.9%, respectively. 展开更多

The real-time monitoring of environmental radiation dose for nuclear fa-cilities is an important part of safety, in order to guarantee the accuracy of the monitoring results regular calibration is necessary. Around nuclear facilities there are so many environmental dosimeters installed dispers-edly, because of its huge quantity, widely distributed, and in real-time monitoring state;it will cost lots of manpower and finance if it were tak-en to calibrate on standard laboratory;what’s more it will make the en-vironment out of control. To solve the problem of the measurement ac-curacy of the stationary gamma radiation dosimeter, an on-site calibra-tion method is proposed. The radioactive source is X-ray spectrum, and the dose reference instrument which has been calibrated by the national standard laboratory is a high pressure ionization. On-site calibration is divided into two parts;firstly the energy response experiment of dosim-eter for high and low energy is done in the laboratory, and the energy response curve is obtained combining with Monte Carlo simulation;sec-ondly experiment is carried out in the field of the measuring dosimeter, and the substitution method to calibrate the dosimeter is used;finally the calibration coefficient is gotten through energy curve correction. In order to verify the accuracy of on-site calibration method, the calibrated dosimeter is test in the standard laboratory and the error is 3.4%. The re-sult shows that the on-site calibration method using X-ray is feasible, and it can improves the accuracy of the measurement results of the stationary &gamma;-ray instrument;what’s more important is that it has great reference value for the radiation safety management and radiation environment evaluation. 展开更多

The fusion neutron penumbral imaging system Monte Carlo model was established. The transfer functions of the two discrete units in the neutron source were obtained in two situations:Imaging in geometrical near-optical and real situation. The spatial resolutions of the imaging system in two situations were evaluated and compared. The penumbral images of four units in the source were obtained by means of 2-dimensional (2D) convolution and Monte Carlo simulation. The penumbral images were reconstructed with the same method of filter. The same results were confirmed. The encoding essence of penumbral imaging was revealed. With MCNP(Monte Carlo N-particle) simulation,the neutron penumbral images of the large area source (200 μm×200 μm) on scintillation fiber array were obtained. The improved Wiener filter method was used to reconstruct the penumbral image and the source image was obtained. The results agree with the preset neutron source image. The feasibility of the neutron imaging system was verified. 展开更多

These frameworks mainly use techniques, s... Recently, 10 Gbps or higher speed links are being widely deployed in data centers. Novel high-speed packet I/O frameworks have emerged to keep pace with such high-speed links. These frameworks mainly use techniques, such as memory preallocation, busy polling, zero copy, and batch processing, to replace costly operations(e.g., interrupts, packet copy, and system call) in native OS kernel stack. For high-speed packet I/O frameworks,costs per packet, saturation throughput, and latency are performance metrics that are of utmost concern, and various factors have an effect on these metrics. To acquire a comprehensive understanding of high-speed packet I/O, we propose an analytical model to formulate its packet forwarding(receiving–processing–sending) flow. Our model takes the four main techniques adopted by the frameworks into consideration, and the concerned performance metrics are derived from it. The validity and correctness of our model are verified by real system experiments. Moreover, we explore how each factor impacts the three metrics through a model analysis and then provide several useful insights and suggestions for performance tuning. 展开更多
